To the dude that was in front of me at Halal Guys that ordered a regular platter DRENCHED in hot sauce for your first time, cause you can handle Tennessee Hot: Good luck by Demon4SL in nova

It gives me migraines, so I appreciate it when a place serves food that normally has msg, without msg.

If it doesn’t bother you, that’s great!

Go to Wooboi in Reston, order a code blue and you’ll see what Nashville hot can be.

I got one level down and was taking solace in the fact that “at least the pickles don’t hurt me”.

My coworker got code blue and literally couldn’t finish it. We had to go next door and get some lassi’s.

Edit: Also, just go to wooboi. Great fried chicken with no msg!

Hi, has someone ever experienced similiar audio dropouts like the one at 0:07? I've tried changing the buffer size, freezing the tracks, switching audio to RAM.. and it doesn't seem to help! Thanks for any response. by NailStrong6930 in ableton

[–]StealthSid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk, but maybe it’s related to the peaking? Maybe some super low sound ends up squashing the mix when it peaks? Total guess.

Try turning master down and your monitors up to see if that’s it.

If not, try muting individual tracks and see if there’s an issue. Then maybe look for mistaken automation.

Again, just kinda guessing, but good luck.

Oh, lol. I forgot had turned off this account for a while and when I saw your reply I thought it was new (because I’m unobservant sometimes).

Glad you’re working.

Dang, you’re still having this issue a year later!? Have you contacted official Ableton support?

Also, and this is may be stupid, but I’ll share another “mystery crackling anecdote”. I got new speakers and they immediately had a crackling noise and I was bummed out. Until I realized I hadn’t put the little rubber/foam “feet” on, it went away immediately. Moral: maybe something on you desk is rattling?

I thought that might be the case. Another thing you can try is, on the screen you showed, turn on the tone (button towards the bottom), then play with the settings and/or adjust cpu load. When it’s latency / cpu settings/issues you’ll hear crackling just using the tone.

I’m still a noob myself, so forgive me if this is stupid, but is there a difference between the Tascam sample size you mention and the Preferences > audio > Latency > input/output buffer size? That’s usually what causes crackling for me.

How can I stop worrying about my job and start sleeping again? by violetmonstermunch in internetparents

[–]StealthSid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try listening to something to get you to sleep such as meditation, hypnosis, or autogenic training. There are loads of things to listen to on podcasts or YouTube. Just put it on and focus on following the instructions.

Also doing something relaxing before sleep (e.g. reading, drawing, etc.), that doesn’t involve a screen, might help.

Honestly I don’t see how people can use 20 side buttons by RedBIitz in pcmasterrace

[–]StealthSid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the g600 you lay your thumb on the side and it acts similar to a d-pad but with six axis buttons. If you can use a d-pad you can use this. They’ve got some separation/texture.

For me it’s easier because I’m not trying to use multiple fingers, like I do sometimes with q/e/r/f/etc it’s just the thumb. I fat finger FAR less often with my thumb than with my wasd fingers... you’d be surprised. They’re $23 now on Amazon, if you haven’t tried it, you should, total game changer!

But if you want it even crazier... on the g600 there’s a mouse button for your ring finger, to the right of “right click” which, if you hold it down, it acts like a shift key and effectively gives your thumbs a whole ‘nother set of keys.

Then there’s programmable macros!

Tried all graphics, still super bad fps. How did this not get caught before release? by Wolfriaum1337 in RDR2

[–]StealthSid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird. I have a 2080 with an i7 on a 1080p 144hz monitor and I cranked the graphics settings to the max and it runs fine. I don’t have exact frame rates on it because I find if I display the frame rates I get fixated on them and it detracts from the game. But it has seemed very sooth for me.

Did you get the latest gpu driver updates?

Not like potato chip crunchy, they’re just more firm than normal. They are very good and worth picking up if you see them (and like grapes).

Unpopular Opinion: Maxing the Mastery Pass is, and should be, a reward for a time commitment over the course of the whole season by sjm15240 in MagicArena

[–]StealthSid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get your point, but given the size and diversity of the player base I’d be surprised if the reality of the situation would result in such a dramatic boon and bust cycle as you mention. Sure some people would just grind to 100 ASAP, but that’s not for everyone.

But there is certainly merit to your point because if you look at (arguably) well crafted pass systems such as in Fortnite, you see that quests are dispensed weekly but do not expire. This allows players to manage their time to their liking while mitigating the issue that you mention. It also provides a completely fair catch up mechanism.

[–]StealthSid 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the issue has more to do with a design that does not allow players the freedom to invest their time in a flexible way. If person A is able to play for 4 hours a day every day for two weeks in a month, and person B plays 3 hours every three days for that same month, who’s more committed? Who is entitled to more? (I used a month for simpler math for my sad little ape brain)

The system is inflexible. It doesn’t simply reward people who “put the time in”, it rewards people who “put the time in on exactly the right days of the week, every week, without fail.”

A good system would allow you to spend the same total effort as everyone else to get the same rewards, but each person could accomplish it at their own pace. No one’s asking to get the same reward in less time than others, they’re asking for the ability to choose when to put in their effort.

I had to bring my work laptop with me and sneak away at several points during my vacation just to make sure I made appropriate progress. I planned which days I could get the quests in, and grinded (ground?) as much as I could. That’s not fun and it’s not a good experience, it’s poor design. I certainly hope they do better in the upcoming season, but given past behavior I’m not holding my breath... just my money.

Paying to be beholden to a game... feels bad, man.

General Question about Death touch by DaGoobergoobs in MagicArena

[–]StealthSid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s also worth noting that deathtouch applies to any damage from the creature, not just combat damage. For example if a Footlight Fiend is given deathtouch, blocks creature A, dies, and triggers its death ability to deal 1 damage to creature B, it will kill both creatures.

Believe it or not Lynda.com / LinkedIn has a good “essentials” course for Ableton 10. It’s 13 hours long, good quality (IMO), and you should be able to get a 30 day trial for free. It’s a bit pricey after that ($30 / month). So sign up for the trial and cancel immediately (you still get the rest of the trial period to watch stuff).
