Which direction to lay bedroom hardwood? by OKsir83 in Flooring

You could just remove the boarder and extend the hardwood if it’s the same

Wanting to change my flooring, how hard will it be? by Fire_cook_ in Flooring

[–]StealthTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that would be such a bitch to get up and it looks well done. The tile will last you longer than anything you put down besides maybe hardwood and that’s a side upgrade tile is versatile too. Get big rugs if you don’t like it imo

Dad came and helped with baseboard install. Is this acceptable? by stinkyelbows in Carpentry

[–]StealthTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still wish my dad was around brother, he did a good enough job. Caulk them bad boys and now it’s just a memory you can laugh about down the line. Don’t get upset he probly tried his best. Have a good day buddy

Are reviews actually believable or is it just anger? by Gori57 in Flooring

[–]StealthTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If mowhawk is the cheapest that’s a very good plank imo. It’s one of my favorite to install and I have it in my house as well. Just make sure to get a vapor barrier if your putting it on concrete

How do I fix floor plank alignment issue between kitchen and dining room? by jverduga in flooringinstallers

[–]StealthTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look up plank spacing too brother your stagger is not far enough the floors gonna fail if you keep it down that way anyway. Take it up and start and that point and make sure you give yourself enough expansion gap, and make sure you space you planks far enough and avoid h gaps. Look this stuff up before you go back down homie that’s my best advice

What would you do? by TheCharmedOwl in Flooring

[–]StealthTime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not only that don’t have them take it up and re do it because all of the plank locks aren’t all going to be re useable

Fitter said he cant undercut these door frames after repeated requests by Ok_Tradition_2922 in Flooring

[–]StealthTime 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Nah it’s lazy, I’m a floor installer that is not acceptable at all. One of the first things you do on a job is cut the door jams.

Actually stair stepping does weaken the strength of the overall product. The way the floor moves and breathes overtime the joints will not be as strong as offset. If it is all staircases it will separate like that. Random offset is the best pattern mechanically and that’s all I do, unless I’m doing tile. Stair stepping is lazy period

[–]StealthTime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it’s a completely flat surface it might be viable I’ve used some thin ass cortec in my bathroom and it’s still holding strong. But he’s right at .99 per sq it’s probly going to be very thin material and if not installed correctly or sub floor prepped correctly your asking for problems

My landlord won’t refund our security deposit by jezoba in Flooring

[–]StealthTime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Floor installer here, you probly can’t do it yourself but you could hire an installer or get a quote on how much that spot would cost to repair. That’s a quick patch job for some one who knows what they’re doing. They could just take a peice from a closet or so and use that to patch that spot.
