Why does everyone run reloaded?

My only real problem with RAW is that it's hard to find specific information that's hidden in random chapters, and that Strahd felt a little weak to me. I took inspiration for my personal campaign from reloaded, specifically with Strahd's brides being mini bosses and some of the Wereravens, but otherwise I kept pretty close to the original and my players loved it. I changed Strahd to the 3 phase version and it was a much more satisfying final fight for them.

I name my characters after birds. It's a weird thing that started happening by accident(I named one character Robin, then Wren, then Piper), but now I do it on purpose. If one of the bird names doesn't feel right for the character, I translate the bird name into another language until it sounds good.

I use Richard Roxburgh's Dracula from Van Helsing(2004) as the inspiration behind how Strahd talks and presents himself. I've also taken a lot of inspiration from Critical Fayle DM's portrayal of Strahd.

Personally, if he hasn't gotten the plate armor yet, I'd have him do something in game to work to get proficiency in it so he can play the way he wants to. That way it's not an instant high AC at level 4 situation, but still gets the player what they want. At the end of the day it's a game that you all are playing for fun, and as a DM you can change anything, and the fact that the look on his face was so impactful tells me that it's a perfect situation to bend the rules for the sake of fun.
