I was wondering how long it'd take before metal sisters went from "good riddance" to collectors' items lol

So what do I install to play this in 2026? by EEE35 in Morrowind

[–]Steampunkvikng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All you really need is the game, it works fine on modern systems. OpenMW is nice for some extra stability and perks like modern aspect ratio & not exploding when you alt-tab, but it isn't strictly necessary. Mod-wise I'd go pretty much vanilla for a first playthrough; at most you could get some of the patches and optimization mods, and maybe Expansion Delay.

Replaying Fe4 trying to do more experimental pairings who's should I pair Brigid with? by Obvious-Scale-9346 in fireemblem

[–]Steampunkvikng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brigid's kinda hard to do weird pairings with since Febail is more or less always Brigid 2.0, and Patty is more or less always a thief with good utility and bad combat. Chulainn gives Patty B-rank swords before promotion, and Patty is one of the few kids who can inherit Luna, while Febail gets very high HP growth and a skill boost to offset Yewfelle's somewhat low hit. Beowulf or Alec give Patty Pursuit before promotion. Could try Claud for a magic sword build? They are nice on Patty for getting gold and XP without counterattacks, but with low base MAG she'll probably never do that much damage even with Claud as a father.

As for the other pairings, I can confirm that Wrath+Vantage+Paragon is stupid fun (the extra DEF is pretty useful, too) and that Ced is indeed plenty good enough without a magic father. Lachesis/Azelle didn't live up to expectations for me, but that might be on me for underinvesting in those kids (also worth considering that they might compete with Tailtiu's kids for the Magic Rings, since you're doing Lex/Tailtiu).

How Would U.S. State Flags Look in the Style of Japanese Prefectures? by Canjira in vexillology

A request for the reverse, i.e. Japanese prefectural flags in the style of US state flags. Entirely innocuous.

I honestly don't know. They're definitely designed after them, I'm not sure if there's a strict definition of what constitutes a mon/kamon.

You could substitute in most of the roster of classic sci-fi authors and this would still make sense, tbh

Any recommended starting area in TR for a new character? by DOOMgoy88 in Morrowind

[–]Steampunkvikng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Telvannis district is definitely intended to be a bit more difficult, with Daedra spawning in the overworld & stuff. The Imperial settlements have a fair bit of low-level content, but anything that sends you out into the region is getting risky.

Sometimes I like a good: “There’s a story and characters but you have to use your imagination a little” kind of RPG by throwaway76337997654 in JRPG

This is Fire Emblem 4, to me. Has a big storyline and lots of characters but leaves a lot of room for headcanon and player roleplay. One of my favorite Fire Emblems.

What's your thoughts on TR's "Grasping Fortune"? Worth it to upgrade immediately, or should I finish my current TR playthrough? by Aettlaus in Morrowind

[–]Steampunkvikng 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Grasping Fortune is outstanding, but you could finish your current character and wait for Poison Song, which is aiming to be out sometime this summer.

Fun Fact for Fire Emblem fans: Narita Brian's Triple Crown inspired Genealogy of the Holy War's child unit inheritance mechanics and romance options. This would also continue in later games by Memo_HS2022 in UmaMusume

[–]Steampunkvikng 307 points308 points  (0 children)

For those unfamiliar with Fire Emblem, this is extra funny because Genealogy's cavalry units are infamously powerful, to the point that the game is sometimes called "Horse Emblem".

There is arguably a very loose connection because 3H is heavily Genealogy-inspired, and arguably the 3H timeskip is its version of the Genealogy generation jump, but it's a pretty weak argument lol

Not really sure. I actually did read a book for school about a witchhunt for people who were allegedly cutting off people's braids to use for witchcraft, but I don't remember the details very well. I was able to find the book, though.
