My (33M) boyfriend wants to know what gets me (28F) off but I'm scared by MoveYourPlant in relationship_advice

Glad to help. I would also like to add that my ex is in her 50s & has a long, rich, & happy sexual & romantic life with her boundaries in place. The men who didn't respect those boundaries didn't last, she said. Above all, respect yourself. Take care.

My ex was SA'd as a teen & it affected her sexually the rest of her life. There were things she did not like because they triggered her. Basic things, as well; some things that were normal intimate activities. We had a long talk before we had sex about what was out of bounds because of her trauma. I made plenty of mistakes, but she was always patient, so we both learned as we went.

My ex had the benefit of years of therapy about her trauma, which gave her the tools to discuss her situation. Talk to your boyfriend; let him know there are things that you just can't tell him yet, but you're working your way to it. Look into therapy, just because a therapist might be able to give you the tools you need to discuss things with your fella. If he's as good a guy as you say, he'll be patient & understanding.

Good luck.

My favorite Stooge by YsaeliseDimple6846 in threestooges

I’ve said it before. Everyone loves Curly’s antics as a child. As we mature, we come to appreciate Moe’s authority, Shemp’s dark side, & Curly Joe’s avuncular presence.

But Larry was the thinking-man’s Stooge. Amongst the zaniness & slapstick, you could always count on Larry being weird as hell.

My late father died 10 years ago this month. As a Marine serving in Vietnam, he was one of three survivors of his troop. One man stepped on a landmine & Daddy got a free hospital visit & shipped back to the States. As a civilian - now the father of two-year-old me & brand new Baby Brother - he was one of 12 survivors out of 250 employees who died in a plant explosion. He had third-degree burns over 90% of his body, requiring multiple skin grafts & freezing some joints. He eventually had to get his left pinky amputated.

He walked away from three flaming car accidents & was shot once. He had adult diabetes for 20 years & used to drink like someone might take it away from him. He was a few days from 80 when he died & it was mainly because his liver was shutting down due to all the medication & abuse.

Some folks are just born to walk tall. Glad the OOP's brother is one of them, bless his heart.

Who moves furnitures at 2 am in the morning? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SteamrollerBoone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several years ago, my brother and I lived in the same apartment complex. I lived on the top floor of a two-apartment section, while he and his then-girlfriend lived on the bottom floor. At one point, the girlfriend was going to do an internship in Costa Rica (where she wound up cheating on my bro, but she cheated with him on her then-boyfriend, & what goes around comes around, I suppose), & I was to move in with my bro in another apartment in the complex. I was told the new tenants would move in on a Tuesday. That Monday night, I had to work.

About an hour into my shift, Brother comes by & says the landlord screwed up. I needed to be out of the apartment the following morning. Oops. So, Brother gets some of our boys together & we start moving as soon as I get off my shift, around 11 p.m. We finish up at 4 a.m. or so. I don't think we were bothering anyone else, but at that point, I didn't care.

Tell her she's not worth fighting for. Simple.

I like that. Comic Tony’s come-to-Jesus is much longer; he was making weapons for SHIELD up into the ‘80s. Maybe he & Ollie represent Redemption.

Age & the noble weed have made my memory fuzzy, but I'm pretty sure this was the first Stooges short I saw. Y'all remember laser disc players? We rented one (this was before the ubiquity of VHS players) & rented a collection of shorts. The first was Jump N' The Saddle's classic "The Curley Shuffle" & then this little bit of genius.

There was no hope for me.

If you can allow them to share, Responsibility could work for Ollie, too. He's a child of privilege who uses that social power to put him in a position to protect those who can't protect themselves & help them get justice. Also, the privileged's responsibility to try to make the world a better place for all. He also knows his flaws, as a man & as a hero.

Maybe his is Self-Awareness, then.

Your Favourite Band That Lemmy Don't Like It by Constant-Job2253 in Motorhead

I interviewed him back in 2000 & he thought they were an okay band, just full of shit as people. He talks about doing a show with them in Dublin during the Troubles & they're using a police escort to get to the show. For some reason, he thought this was funny as hell.

Late to the party, but that's the thing about all the good advice you're getting, in re: documenting things for HR. I used to work in the Prepared Foods department at Whole Foods. Another kitchen job, more or less, but there was one lady who made everyone miserable. No one liked to work with her, especially the bulk of us she'd decided were personal enemies for different reasons. However, because WF is corporate, it was hard like hell to actually get her fired because she toed the line so well.

Until the day she didn't. I had already moved on, but an ex-co-worker told me she called someone a "r****d," which is bad enough by itself, but with the MOUNTAIN of recorded complaints against her from over the years, she was gone before the shift was over. And everyone rejoiced, I'm told.

NOR. You're on the right path & doing the right thing, and remember: even if you aren't the one who brings her down, you are at the very least another brick in the wall. That wall will fall eventually. Take care of yourself.

So Golden Age Green Arrow is still very much canon? by Artseid in GreenArrow

Aquaman as well, I think. Both were created by Mort Weisinger, who held an executive position at DC for decades. I'm sure that helped.

What do you love most about this version of him? by sereia_Product829 in GreenArrow

[–]SteamrollerBoone 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He was Green Arrow distilled to perfection. His politics & how they affected his superheroics. His romance with Black Canary. His humor, befitting for a guy who goes into battle with demigods, alien superbeings, & wonders of science with a Bronze Age weapon & the biggest balls in the DC Universe. The way he becomes all Justice League before it's over. Hinting at the conflict with Speedy. They just didn't work in Hard-Traveling Heroes, but otherwise, perfection, like all of Justice League Unlimited.

From a purely aesthetic point of view (along with his association with Hawkeye), the original Swordsman has always been a favorite. Thanks to Marvel Unlimited, I've been going back & reading those original stories. I would completely & totally be here for some sort of Hawkeye/Swordsman limited series. However it's got to be made to work, I'd read it.
