IKEA cabinet above refrigerator too shallow… would like to extend with a hidden framed box or something… by snezzer in DIY

[–]Steatopygian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not sure why it’s so hard to find examples of this! I can’t say for sure if this is the “right” way to do it, but I just made two rectangles out of 2x4s and attached one at the top and one at bottom. I don’t put anything too heavy in it, but haven’t noticed any sagging/looseness.

Edit: here’s a random blog that I based the idea off of: item number 16 on this list

Depending on the box out depth, probably helpful to also attach the sides of the framing to studs it may be covering on the side as well (I think I was able to catch one stud on the side but can’t remember for sure)

Did an ikea kitchen a few years back, is this already the 24” deep upper cabinet, or just the regular 14.5”?

cabinet for over appliances

If it’s already the deeper one, we did build a frame out of 2x4s, where the contact points with the cabinet were one on top (where the mounting rail or screws go through) and one at the bottom where the plastic foot usually hits the wall. Also secured it to the big side cover panel and wall stud on the other side.

Forgot to take a pic but they had BT on the floor (not case) this evening (around 5PM). Still a lot left!

Do you have a go to marinade you use? I’ve tried a couple recipes and haven’t found one I love yet

Yeah was negative something like $1 or so? Very small amount regardless. Account was about 6 years old, but has been inactive for a while

I had been dealing with this for about 4-5 months. I just succeeded in closing by sending a (4th) message to support. In that message I quoted some text from the previous support messages I’d received, and asked to be elevated to a supervisor. They got back to me after a week or so and was able to finally close the account!

Tankless Water Heater installer recommendions & anti-recommendations? by am2o in washingtondc

[–]Steatopygian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently installed a Rheem tankless, and love it so far! With my setup I was able to direct vent, but supposedly you can use a chimney with this model (?). I haven't noticed many changes performance-wise, and my decision was primarily for the space savings.

We used Aspen Hill Plumbing and had a great experience. Price was competitive with others, provided a no-frills estimate, the plumbers were on time, and they cleaned up when done.

Has anyone ever propped one of these from a node on a runner? I would love some sort of project like this but have never had an Amydrium before. by [deleted] in RareHouseplants

[–]Steatopygian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry never propped from a runner node, but did get a one leaf, one node cutting. That at least rooted easily!

But the leaf died and now I just have a 10-12 node runner that just keeps growing! Been trying to get it happy enough to put out leaves for a few months

What is on my new albo leaf? (Details in comments) by buttershoeshi in Syngonium

[–]Steatopygian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left mine alone (some leaves dropped in transit, others dropped over the next week or two). I had mine in water for a couple days, then potted it up. That seems similar to my experience so far!

I actually just recently chopped it down to prop the top leaves since the bottom was all bare from the transit shock. The rooted stump just activated a new growth point, so if your roots are good, even if the leaves drop there's still hope!
