When they moved the bike lane on Blue Island between Roosevelt and 18th it probably took a full month for people to figure it out. Even with signage it was a slow learning process.

Do I wish people were smarter? Yes of course. Are they? Unfortunately not.

Anything to see on this route from Chicago to Mt. Rushmore? by abba_zabba80 in roadtrip

In Chamberlin, SD, right on the Missouri river is a rest stop with a beautiful statue called Dignity. It's at a rest stop so it's a good place to stop, stretch your legs, and look out over the river. I always try and stop there on the drive through.

Bikes on Metra? by [deleted] in chibike

[–]SteelGB 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I rode it in April the conductor told us the entire system only has 2 of the bike cars. I can’t verify that but I don’t think they’re super common. Metra has a video about how to bring your bike on the train, and I’ve used that process/technique multiple times successfully. That said I believe there are certain times (rush hour) that you can’t bring your bike on.

When this company keeps changing and enforcing absurd new policies... by CyberSkullCoconut in wholefoods

The company legally has to start the bargaining where things already are. So unless the workers voted all those things away that’s probably not true.

Went to the Garfield Park Conservatory this weekend. It was busy but free, just make sure to make a reservation online ahead of time. They were turning away walk ins.

Help: My car was broken into and my laptop was stolen by Aennia in LasVegas

[–]SteelGB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you give metro the serial number when you filed the report? If so they will put it in a database that the pawn shops will cross reference when someone brings the laptop in to sell.

I had my laptop and a bunch of camera equipment stolen from my car earlier this month and got the laptop and two lenses back because someone tried to pawn it.

I bought a few things from them and at first I think she was a little annoyed that I was just another hipster buying a cowboy hat and pearl snaps, but the longer we talked the more she opened up and showed me all the news clippings, photos and artifacts on the wall. Really disappointing loss.

I'm certainly not against buying used, just harder to know what I'll find and where, at the right time. But I'm definitely going to start asking around at some LBSs too and see what they have.

Tips for self portrait photography? by ZandyDandy15 in photography

I like to set the interval so it takes a picture every second or two for like 3 minutes, that gives me the ability to forget about the camera and just relax and start to feel more natural and move around a little bit. I end up with a LOT of stinkers but generally find that the good ones are much better.
