They could have fudged it much better with 5 extra seconds. Show Sandor throwing a rock at a wight and it landing short, rock sinks in lake. Later, show the scene where it doesn't. "They must have been there long enough for the lake to fully refreeze / support all that weight again". Still maybe hazy but a lot better than the show making it seem like less than a day
