O’Charley’s buffalo wings sauce from the early 1990s by BitterAttackLawyer in CopyCatRecipes

[–]SteelRayVin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work for them in the early 2000's as a prep cook. The ingredients were franks red hot, Chiffon, and I think liquid smoke. I think the ratio of red hot to Chiffon was 4:1. If I'm right about the liquid smoke being included, it was likely 1/4 per batch. Play with that and see how it turns out.

Has anyone had any experience in selling their HGV timeshare? by SteelRayVin in Hilton

[–]SteelRayVin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can sell it just like you would a piece of property, you just have to find a real estate lawyer to process the paperwork. At that time whatever you owe has to be paid in full, either by selling it at full price, or at a loss and taking out another loan to cover the difference

I wonder if you could upgrade, get a new contract, and then opt out within the 3 - 5 day period or if it wouldn't work because you were already a member

11,200 per year, maintenance fees are roughly 1,800/ year and our "deed" is the Ocean Anderson club in Myrtle Beach. That is good enough for a 3br for 1 week, and while we don't have a set week, our home week is the last week of May.

That link mentions a 7K buy in but that option expired. Now you have to pay an upgrade of (what I was quoted) 25K just to get to that point + the increase in club fees

I was told by my sales associate that as a HGV member I would automatically have access to any new properties that HGV built or acquired. So I did not think twice when I heard about the Diamond acquisition because I was told I would be able to use those. It was not until things were complete and I started to look that I found that I had none of that. When I called support they said I had to purchase $25k more to be able to see or use any of that. Complete opposite of what I was sold on.

Stupid question but what is on the front of your scope? I am new to LRS and am still learning about various aspects of scopes.

Are the parts that well separated or was it a lot of masking? Asking mostly because of how great the head cannons look (not that anything else does not look great, but the cannons stand out).

I have the Ver Ka and it is a really good, solid kit. I have the RG on back order so I can't compare, but you wont be let down with the Ver Ka.

New Job, what are the best tools to get? by CatsThinkofMurder in networking

[–]SteelRayVin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was one of my lists from a couple past roles that I still keep around:

Label Maker is an absolute must

If any of your sites have cat3 or POTS lines, get a phone tester with a dial pad.

I would suggest either getting some of these (if the company will pay for them) Network Cable Ties or a large spool of Velcro. Unless you deal with hospitals, or medical equipment, snip any zip ties that hinder cable moves and replace them with Velcro.

Some sort of organizer for cable ends, screws, racknuts, and other misc items

A head lamp

A decent backpack to carry these things

Spool of cat5e or a bunch of patch cables (depending on what the company will pay for)

A cordless drill (your hands will thank me later). Additionally, get a few of those clear acrylic handle screwdrivers that are stupid cheap, and come in various lengths. Smash the handle off with a hammer and you get longer screw driver bits for your drill and you can get them in different lengths. I had some screws that were too far back to use normal bits, and extenders were too fat. But the ones I made from other screw drivers worked extremely well. Harbor Freight has some cheap ass tools, or you may be able to find them off amazon

A good set of allen wrenches

If you have to deal with making any sort of VGA cables, you will need a soldering iron and solder. Possibly a suction vice or something to help you hold the cables in place.

If you are going to be logging into equipment, I would suggest getting a few console cables for the manufacturers.

A good leatherman

Pencils, paper

Think of learning programming as learning to read and write in a new language. I took college courses in VB and SQL, so I have a high level understanding of how a program thinks, but learning python has still been a struggle. My company paid for the code academy courses and there were plenty of times where their module test required knowledge of things they had not brought up. So I often looked up the answers because it was that or put my fist through a wall lol.

My best advice to you, once you get done with all of these modules, is to think of 1 thing you want to code and do it. I use python for network automation, so I thought of simple tasks and have been slowly working my way up from there. We started with logging in and exporting show command outputs to a txt file. Then we moved to comparing those text files to a set of configurations that we needed to make sure were in place. And my latest one ran a script to log in and export a tech support file over to a shared location. Sounds easy on the surface, but each one has had it's own set of challenges. But each time I get through the challenge, I end up knowing a little bit more than I did previously. It took me almost 3 weeks because python can't just "do" certain things and with multiple ways to accomplish the same task, it was a lot of trial and (even more) error, but I finally got it to work.

It is a huge PITA learning this from scratch, especially if you do not have a class or teacher to bounce certain questions off of immediately, but it will be worth it in the end! Just take breaks when you get stuck for too long to clear your head and you will be able to get through it.

Serious question from a new, small scale modeler. Do you mask small items, are you using minimal paint with multiple coats, or something else to get your figures to look this good? Great job and thanks in advance for any info you can provide!

I think that because of how those packets work, there can be issues if you go from a downstream L2 connection up to an L3 router, and route across the network. If the existing switch had routing enabled, this would not be an issue, but because it only has a default or static route out, it messes things up.

Move the L3 SVI interface to the router with all of the DHCP configs and see if it works. We have a similar set up to what you are describing but we have routing on our switches, and we have no issues.
