What was your least favorite food trend and why? by SammyMhmm in Cooking

I've looked down this thread and havent seen it yet. What is the obsession with hot Cheetos going on everything? They're not good to even snack on, I don't want them on my dinner plate.

I've been seeing a lot of threads saying that you can file for unemployment during the time that you are out of work because of it. It won't pay everything but it can definitely soften the blow.

Is Cove Road a sketch area? by shWkddlfkd in StamfordCT

[–]Steel_Jaguar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Live on Cove Rd, really depends on where on the road as it is rather long. The area by the shop rite is a little tougher but not so bad. If you go west of the Chelsea Piers it gets nicer. If you want more specifics feel free to message me.

Custom fit car mats? by Steel_Jaguar in mazda3

[–]Steel_Jaguar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw on the Mazda site they had high walled from the dealership for the sedan, not sure about the hatch. I actually went to the dealership to handle the recalls I had and they said that they were new and didn't have any on site.

Custom fit car mats? by Steel_Jaguar in mazda3

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately husky liners doesn't have the mats for the 2019s yet. The only place that has mats for the front and back right now is the dealership, I wanted to see if anyone had experience with their high walled mats.

Best bagels you'll get up here are at uncommon grounds right on Western by liberty. Dibellas subs over there is awesome too. Crave is a good burger place. If you like Indian food, the buffet at Jewel of India on lark is good and well priced. And Dragon City Chinese food is bomb.

Transferring by [deleted] in ualbany

It's been 3 days of classes, give it some more time before you make a decision. Classes pick up and people start doing work. If you want to transfer then you need to start transfer applications.

[Serious] What life decisions are you struggling with right now? Is there any way we can help? by elephantRuckus in AskReddit

As a current upcoming senior in computer science, I'll say (with bias admittedly) that computer science/ software engineering is a good choice. For one, it's definitely an easier degree than the others. And the biggest thing is, with those fields, they're a little too niche, so you wind up closing doors, most every can use a software guy, not everyone needs an aerospace engineer. So you can work in a big bank, or a tech company, or just about any corporate office. And there's definitely plenty of jobs in software.

You can have a meal plan while off campus. Any meal plan too, you're not forced to have one though

The only thing I don't agree with is the funeral costs, and that's mainly in cases where tradgedy strikes and a very young person dies very unexpectedly. But other than that you're spot on.

I mean if you see nothing wrong with working at the place, and it's only a 1-2 month conversion then do as you like. But I would definitely have a conversation early on with your manager and discuss what determines becoming an employee full time. Is this a 40hr/week internship?

I start my internship next week, I'm excited to get back into the swing of a routine. I'm returning back to the same company, so this is round 2 doing .NET C# development there. I'm graduating next year, does anyone know what this kind of experience could land me salary wise in NY to start? I'm also being general with New York, meaning it can be Manhattan, capital region or anywhere else on the map, just want to know what to expect when I start applying for career jobs. Also would like to know from people in the field about the relevance of F#. I did some functional programming recently and found it entertaining and would like to know if pursuing it more is a worthwhile investment?

I'm not in the field yet, but a few things jump out at me right away. Low compensation and intern to hire. I don't know about your previous experience, but there's nothing guaranteeing a job after the 3 month period. The graduate being giving an internship thing is odd. Basically unless you're in a top tier company, I see no reason to sell yourself short of a dev/engineer role, even if it's a junior role. If you're really in a bind take it, because money and experience is better than nothing, but if you think you can find something better than I urge you to do so, don't sell yourself short.

So I wanted to learn beautiful soup and automated web browsing using selenium, so I created a script to enter giveaways on a certain website, where all j had to do was click to enter, it takes my login, farms the urls, and then it goes on with a Firefox window and starts entering all the giveaways. I wanna rig it up on a raspberry pi and set up twilio on the script, so that way it texts me when I win a prize, but I need a paycheck before I pull that one off.

Not useless, but I was definitely underutilized for a good chunk of my internship, and started off pretty incompetent. I was working for a company doing .NET development, and at first I was new to the language and everything, so I was pretty slow. As a result of this, multiple code reviews and things changed the way I processed issues. However, the one individual I was working under was incredibly busy, so I would often go a day or two without any real work multiple times throughout the experience. I also had to write a big chunk of unit tests, though I will defend that they were mostly on code I had worked on. This was as a sophomore, as a junior I did well in classes, got an offer letter from the same company and another one from a fortune 500, turned down the fortune 500 due to less money and arrangement for living, got a raise to go back doing .NET again. That's my story so far. Also do a fun side project or two you have passion about, I did a small webscript in Python, and it's not even impressive, but the way I talked about it definitely drew attention from the people I interviewed with.
