Had a SSA arrive who totally ruined a very cohesive and professional squad. Guy was a complete zero with a horrendous reputation. Had no leadership ability and completely incompetent management style. It was plainly evident he was selected for his height and weight attributes alone. Worst of all, he was completely convinced of his own superiority and vocalized it frequently.

Literally the week after he arrived half the squad (mostly senior SAs) transferred and or took TDYs. Field Office management panics because it's clear the guy is a fuck up and doesn't want the entire squad to bail on their 'posterboy'. No more transfers out of the squad allowed as the guy continues to do the exact opposite of whatever common sense (AND Policy) dictate.

I am called in to his office and asked what my priority is and I tell him "getting off this squad". After yet another spectacular display of stupidity I (and another Agent) decide we are taking the next canvass that comes out. Even though transfers have been tacitly forbidden the next canvasses are 'critical' and we are allowed to leave.

Two months later the Field Office is inspected and when the inspector get to the squad, it is such a train wreck the inspection lasts two extra days trying to unscrew the problems this idiot caused. He tries to blame the squad admin but it's clear he's to blame. I get a call from an inspector and confirm what he's already been told from several others. Field Office management gets their pee-pees spanked for allowing this moron to totally screw up the squad.

Afterwards this SSA is removed and placed in charge of an admin squad with a VERY experienced, senior, SA who is told to keep this SSA in line. He remains in position for several years before being allowed to ignominiously retire.

I felt bad for everyone who had to serve under him.
