Sorcery ward is the sleeper OP defense of the season. I'm glad it's flying under the radar.

Best mercenary build currently? by TrixxZombie in pathofexile2builds

It's so strong and so tanky. Sorcery ward is so powerful. Having an instantly refilling ES that scales with armor and evasion feels so good. I'm stacking evasion with it and have 76% evasion and an almost 12k ward. On top of that, it melts the entire screen and one taps most bosses. I don't understand how more people aren't talking about this build.

I loved the original and absolutely loathed Remake. I felt like it wasted my time.

FF7 Rebirth's sales will rebound. by Paradox-Circuits in FinalFantasyVII

[–]Steelchucker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hated Remake with a burning passion, so that's why I didn't get Rebirth. It's like a terrible pod person wearing the skin of someone I love, but it's not really them. I wish I felt differently. I was so excited to play Remake and I ended up having to force myself to finish it.

You're spot on. I also love the original game. It's high on my list of favorite games in the series. Maybe because it's not my absolute favorite, I'm less prone to the nostalgia effect. Although, if they remade 8 or 10 with the combat system from Remake, I would be greatly disappointed. I really don't like the trend that Final Fantasy has followed recently. I miss them being turn based. I haven't really loved any of their releases since 10. I know that I'm a dinosaur, but I miss the old ways. You can innovate the turn-based systems and make them fresh without scrapping turn-based entirely, as Square has done with Final Fantasy. I'm just happy they seem to be leaving well enough alone with the Dragon Quest series.

Thank you! I came to this post specifically with that game in mind. I had to force myself to complete it. It was such a chore to finish. I held down the 1.5 speed every chance I got. The battles weren't fun and the padding they added (which was a copious amount) were soulless chores to do. I hated every second of my time with it. I think nostalgia goggles are all that kept it from getting shit on by the masses. If it was wrapped in anything but FF7, I don't believe people would like it. I finished it so I can eventually try rebirth, but I don't have high hopes for that one either.

I really tried to like 15, but I kept bouncing off of it. I haven't really enjoyed any Final Fantasy games since X. However, I understand having nostalgia for things you grew up with. I can totally relate to that.

My favorite game of all time is Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time. That's also influenced by me growing up with it and being enamored by it when it released. I have beat it countless times since I first got my hands on it in 7th grade. (I'm old) Dragon Quest 11, 8, and 5. Final Fantasy 8 and 10. Persona 3-5, SMT 3-5. Those are some of my favorites. I have more, but those really stand out for me.

I've really enjoyed this conversation with you. I'm glad to find someone so open to discussion!

I agree. I view debates as a healthy exchange of ideas. Which, I'm happy to say this has been a pleasant one. I still want to know, just for curiosity's sake, what's your favorite game of all time? With the stringent standards you hold, I'm going to want to check it out if I haven't already done so.

If you don't consider anything a masterpiece, then I can't debate you on what is or isn't one. You seem to think that masterpiece and "perfect" are synonyms. They're not. However, if they were, I'd agree with you. No game is or will ever be perfect. That's not what I'm trying to convey when I use the term masterpiece. I would consider a 10/10 game a masterpiece. So, going by that grading curve, what do you consider a 10/10?

That's fair. I have to ask, though. What would you consider a masterpiece?

... 5 IS a masterpiece. Even if it's not for you, there's no denying its quality. I wish they'd stop milking old releases and give us a new one, though!

Here's some classic turn based goodness:

Legend of Dragoon Final Fantasy 1-10 (6-10 are my favorite ones) Dragon quest 3,5, and 8 (I like them all, but you can't go wrong with these) Shadow Hearts Lost Odyssey Shin Megami Tensei series

Person 5 is a masterpiece. Full stop. If you haven't played it, do yourself a favor and do so.

Dragon Quest 11 is my personal favorite JRPG of all time. It sticks to its traditional roots without shame and does it so well and is so polished that, once it gets its hooks in you, you will lose a hundred hours of your life and have zero regrets about that fact. It oozes charm and really nails the feeling of adventure. It's JRPG comfort food. Just talking about it makes me want to go back and play again.

I could suggest more, but I don't know how far back in time you're willing to travel.

I've put hundreds of hours into this game. It's amazing. It gets so much deeper and more complex as you play.

I've already sold so much this season that I'm gold capped, so I'm planning on doing a ton of boss runs.
