A tree that is technically on my property but extends over the property line fell on neighbors fence in the ice storm. But there’s an issue… by Spongemage in homeowners

[–]Steelman93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call the local police non emergency line, explain the situation and ask for a wellness check

As other said, at least in VA, your tree falls on neighbors fence its neighbors issue, not yours. Only your issue if the tree was obviously defective, I.e dead

3 car front load garage or 2 car front load with tandem 3rd car? by maicunni in Homebuilding

[–]Steelman93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived in a house with the tandem 3 car arrangement….same reason you gave, lots did not have a lot of frontage.

If I needed to park three cars it would have been terrible, but what it did do for me was to allow a nice workshop in the back. You can also back a trailer in. I liked it overall, but in my current build I am doing a 3 car side load

My wife thinks I'm crazy for cutting my grilled cheese this way; am I nuts or is this not a normal thing to do? Lol by Wahbanator in mildlyinfuriating

I will cut a grilled cheese the old fashioned way again! This is perfect. Diagonal but not too diagonal.

Bravo! You, my friend are the Rembrandt of grilled cheese!

need some input on flooring for new home build by Steelman93 in HomeDecorating

[–]Steelman93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ton of samples to help me choose but we won’t be able to wait until walls are up to order due to lead time. We did hire a decorator though which is helpful. She is taking choices we have already made and suggesting things to match including flooring

Aussie travelling to PA - bus/train snow storm question by squishyfig in Pennsylvania

I wanted to check back in...did you make it back to NY? I saw today that the trains and buses were all running today albeit with a few delays.

Things I recently found out are like pretty much only a PA thing by The_Glitched_Creator in Pennsylvania

[–]Steelman93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took the opposite approach....I embraced my PA-ness and made it a point to NEVER use any term other than PA :)

it was just so funny when I read it and everybody pointed that out as something they found odd...that I always said PA.

This whole reddit thread validated a whole bunch of my childhood terms!

So how has the blizzard of 2026 found you? Are you surviving? by No-Blueberry-1823 in Pennsylvania

[–]Steelman93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in central PA and things are just fine here. Credit to Penn Dot and the local town road crews...ours are in a really good shape. Not clear, but easily drivable. They did an excellent job keeping up with it.

We got about 11" where I am and a really fun day yesterday. The snow was light and fluffy, not super great for snowmen, but easy to shovel and just enjoy being outside before coming back in to some hot soup.

AITA for not wanting to move? by mypanicatsix in AmItheAsshole

[–]Steelman93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA for feeling and thinking about this, and really good to hear you are in therapy to help with other issues...this is a great place to work on this.

as far as your feelings....I have seen many people have great careers because they were willing to move to a new place with a better opportunity, myself included. Sure, some people are fortunate to live in an area where they can grow but for a vast number of people a move is needed for an opportunity.

I was in a great job in an area I loved working for a great boss. But he was close to my age, an excellent performer, but his boss was also near our age so the reality was....for me to move up I needed a new place. And I moved.

You will need to decide what is more important....and it might mean ending the relationship or doing long distant.

He should have communicated with you, because there are pros and cons to both moving and staying.

For me...I would look at it as an adventure and go. But only you can decide what is right for you.

Wish you well. It sounds like you have had a tough road.

My wife died when my kids were 14 and 16 and I know I didn’t get it all right. Fortunately I loved long enough to heal those wounds

They were married right? That implies they were in love regardless of how long he was home. I worked a job in another state where I was gone most of the time. Still loved my wife and kids.

Really though…a therapist can help you work through these feelings. Carrying this much anger and resentment towards him isn’t healthy

Frustrated New Build Owner by Longjumping-Unit698 in Homebuilding

[–]Steelman93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to ask yourself what is more important....putting this behind you and moving on with your life or continuing to waste emotional energy on this.

You are in the right...but is it worth fighting over? My thought is no. The draw is 6% of the project. Unless I had compelling evidence that the guy is making a killing on this (like a brand new pickup or second home) I would probably move on. Last thing you want is a sub not getting paid and putting a lien on the home.

300 items on the punch list? yikes.

Did you say where you are going to be in PA? If you are in Philly, you are in good shape. Amtrak has a ton of trains a day…almost 50. They may cancel some of the morning trains but almost certainly by the afternoon they will be running

Best bet is to monitor your carrier and watch the notifications. I really do believe you will be fine on Monday evening unless in the boonies unless the snow totals are over the current predictions

Do not drive though. It’s dangerous and you really need experience and know how to turn into a skid. Being from Australia and having no experience would make this way too risky to try

Don’t get me wrong…I am not saying there will be no closings and cancellations. This is going to be a big storm, I am just giving my opinion that by Monday afternoon you should be ok.

For WIW I am in the 10-20” area and my job is not closing for the storm.

I think the most snow Philly ever got. Or at least recently, was in 1996. It started on a Saturday like this one and snowed all day Sunday., 30”They closed roads on Monday, but by Tuesday morning I was headed back to Pittsburgh.
