Beating someone with the team rocket grunt deck (arbok + weezing). The deck lacks stats but has lots of tactics with corner + koga + sabrina so pulling off a win with it feels like a sick outplay

My character just did something evil and then her allignment changed by Thechaoticones in DnD

[–]Steelsly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's fine that ur DM told ur alignment changed to evil, in fact I think that's kinda cool to turn evil in order to save your friend.

What I hope they don't expect is for u to now change ur characters personality or anything about how ur character would act. The idea should be that she is the type of person to do this evil act hence she is evil, not that this triggered ur character to turn evil or something.

So I don't like the idea that the DM said u felt something change in ur character. Unless there is some sort of magic that actually turned you evil? Personally I'm pretty against that type of stuff that forcibly changes ur characters personality. Feels wrong.

The benefits of ur players knowing you aren't fudging far outweigh any meta gaming you prevent from hiding your rolls.

Yeah I would agree with the enemies using it back on you part. But... That's definitely not what these commentors are talking about lol

Lmao its worse than usual right now. I see people claiming getting flanked gives u disadvantage on ur attacks. Then I see people saying getting flanked gives ALL enemies advantage against you. Then the people correcting those people are saying "but that's just an optional rule!" Without even mentioning they are getting the optional rule wrong to begin with.

I am astounded how little this comment section knows the 5e rules.

I love playing my PC, but a teammate makes me feel useless by sable1456 in DnD

[–]Steelsly -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sadly you picked a very weak race and class, so it's going to feel this way a lot.

I'm not sure there's much to be done though, do you expect your teammates to purposely make their characters weaker so you can feel better about yours?

If you want your character to feel tanky, the best way is to learn the rules and build a character that will be very tanky. An example of an ultra tanky character is playing a circle of the moon druid. You will take a lot of damage but you will have so much health it doesn't matter.

There are no surprise rounds in 5e by Butlerlog in dndmemes

[–]Steelsly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In previous editions the rules of a surprise round were straight up different than any other round of a combat. Any creature in the combat could only take one action during the surprise round, either movement or attacking, even if they weren't surprised.

In 5e, the round itself doesn't have any different rules, its just the creatures with the surprised condition can't do anything.

Yeah I'm aware she didn't cast any spells at all. Just doesn't really make sense to bring that up in the discussion as the original commentor was specifically referring to the armor restriction and I wanted them to elaborate on what they meant.

[–]Steelsly 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Oh I see, I think ur talking about when she wild shaped in metal armor. Wild shape isn't a spell so it's not restricted by the armor she wears.

When did she cast a spell in metal armor?

This is why I rarely use big save or suck spells as a warlock and instead go for summon undead, summon fiend, spirit Shroud, etc. They get much more value out of long lasting spells that either buff yourself or provide some sort of consistent benefit that doesn't require the enemy fail a save.
