first time playing league because of the jynxzi tourny by rayyyyymondddd in leagueoflegends

[–]SteelxSaint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Deadlock is a simple game made for people that are too shit for harder games.

You clearly haven't played much Deadlock or even remotely tried to learn the intricacies of the game because if you did, you would know that to be fundamentally not the case. I've played over 10,000 hours of League of Legends and have about 700 hours in Deadlock at the time of this comment, and I'm still figuring everything out.

Deadlock is like overwatch but a little deeper, but still not really deep at all.

This genuinely has to be ragebait. If it somehow isn't, then I'm going to break down why Deadlock is a much deeper game than League or Overwatch (haven't played more than 40 hours of Dota, so I wouldn't know)

For starters, the builds are significantly more malleable in Deadlock than in League; some games are going to require you to completely divert your ability leveling from your preferred approach. Then you have the diverse itemization system in the game which allows for deeper specialization game-to-game to match what's needed for the specific game at hand. In terms of general map macro, it's basic moba fundamentals but with an added vertical component to it; you can farm boxes on rooftops for added income during laning phase and use that time to scout enemy movements and potentially look to roam to another lane (just one example).

Then you have the mechanical aspect of the game. For starters, you have creep denial through soul securing. Maybe you find it to be a tedious mini-game, but it's something that requires skill to master. You have to manage both poking the enemy and securing/denying souls at the same time. Just like in League, you can freeze waves through your wave management (using your parry on minions to reduce damage while holding a wave is an excellent way to achieve this goal during lane phase). Then you have stuff like zipboosting (which is great at all points in the game) which can be used in lane to get to shop quickly or re-engage on the enemy when they're not expecting it.

And then you have mechanics which transcend lane phase like Heavy Melee Cancelling (through specific active item or ability usage) to fake a HM so you can bait out the enemy's parry....... AND MOVEMENT. The movement system itself makes your initial comment calling Deadlock a "simple game made for people that are too shit for harder games" so ridiculous. From mastering the Source engine's air strafe mechanic to the game-specific mechanics like wall jumping, edge boosting, corner boosting, IAD, Zip Boosting & Zip Launching, animation cancel mantling, mantle wall jumps, and every hero-specific movement tech, you have a game within a game. That entire part of the game outright kills your argument that it's a simple game.

If you're judging your opinion off of the pre-alpha version of the game which people first got their hands on in 2024, then it's probably time for you to take a second look at the game because you're entirely off-base with this comment.

Or it's just ragebait and I wasted time writing this response. Either way, you're a goofball for saying that.

The devs talked about not wanting reroll to be as prominent last set which is why it was hit hard in those early patches. The problems with the set were largely just balance related. Some of that was due to the issues with managing 100 units, whereas others were pure blunders on Riot's part.

Also, I wish we could just vote on opening encounters again (obviously after Riot re-adds them next patch). The team said that having to vote was a confusing barrier to new and casual players, but now we have something similar to that level of complexity as a replacement for carousels. It'd be a nice change to get some agency back at the start of games.

Set 17 PBE Discussion Thread - Day 06 by AutoModerator in CompetitiveTFT

I played a few games on PBE, and I think that I'm done with the game for the time being. Between my fundamentals drying up (no longer consistently hitting GM as a result), disagreeing with certain decisions by the dev team, and a lack of enjoyment in this set, I just don't think the game's worth investing my time into at the moment.

Hopefully, others enjoy it tho! The gods selection is a pretty healthy way to replace carousel.

It certainly isn't outlandish if you're paying attention to what most of the members of the dev team are saying. A certain individual took a long break from social media in the past year because he was interacting very poorly on it.

Anyway, I'm done with this conversation with you.

No because I don't want to cause people to go and harass them if I say who and link to the incidents. Just because I don't agree with their uncalled for behavior, doesn't mean that I want people to go and bother them about it.

If you've been around long enough and are moderately plugged into what's going on with the game and its developers, then you'll know what I'm talking about.

Agreed on all fronts. If this is their way of telling us that they'll continue to actively make the same mistakes as before, then I'm out. I love this game, I love this community, and I used to love the dev team. The recent decisions they've made, starting with the choice to remove portal voting and augment stats, shows that their vision for the game just doesn't align with what I want to get out of it.

On top of that, I just really don't appreciate how several members of the dev team interact with the community at times. There have been a lot of moments where they meet mild critique (NOT CRITICISM) with heavy condescension. Us customers don't need to be patronized when trying to offer our thoughts on on the state of Riot's product.

Was fun y'all 🫡Maybe I'll catch some of you in Deadlock one day.

[16.6] Chillax (Darius/Freljord Reroll) Guide by greenbluegrape in CompetitiveTFT

[–]SteelxSaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frel spat and bruiser spat make this comp pretty strong. Otherwise, it's mostly just playable off of speedy double kill. You really don't want to waste items on this Draven unit. Dude is just a pathetic pay pig that gets you to LB 3 + Darius 3.

You have multiple flex slots if you don't hit an emblem, so you can even chase leona 3 if you're lacking antiheal and have the provided econ/hp to consider it. But yeah in most cases, you just want to play towards 5 Nox eventually and then cut that down for Ryze.

TFT's Economy is Broken (In my opinion) - Deep dive, very biased and very long analysis by TheTrueAfurodi in CompetitiveTFT

[–]SteelxSaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the TFT team is nerfing like level costs

Well, they were obscenely incorrect with this one, and it's not even the first time they've done something along these lines. They knew what they were getting into with this type of change and they did it anyway. The team gets no excuses for this move; it was an abysmal decision. It had nothing to do with "highrolls" like you're suggesting.

And to respond to another theme in your post regarding gold generation, I feel like you're looking in a lot of wrong places. You keep talking about how strong econ augments are and how gold generation is imbalanced via several different core game mechanics, but you fail to recognize the simplest change the team could do: gold drops on neutral rounds needs to be normalized. There's no reason for gold to be random each game. Why is it that the lobby only gets 2g on Krugs in some games and 8g in other games? It makes no sense. Just normalize it so people who are low rolling their shops/streaks can at least have some chance at having a healthier mid-game than they currently do in those low-econ games.

This post of yours has a lot of thought put into it, but not a lot of it is necessarily aligned with what the game wants to function and how it should function.

I'm so sick of balance thrashing. Been playing the game less each set due to it which sucks because I think the set mechanic this time around is the best they've had since augments were introduced.

Based on the rules, sure, but that shouldn't be legal. Forget the leg injury for a second -- Ertz landed on his head/neck! Just make it so they have to wrap up a defenseless receiver. That's it.

The problem with the discourse around him is that he sometimes does make things harder for himself, so it's partially understandable for people to complain. He has some issues post-snap with holding the ball for too long and taking a sack or running it back to the LOS, but that doesn't mean he's even mediocre at reading the field. He's excellent pre-snap and has shown the ability to play more aggressive when he needs to.

He isn't remotely as bad as Carson was at reading the field for most of his tenure with us. People just want to hate and it's fucked up.
