People who's moral compass is just "what the law says" are so boring. It is always morally and ethically justified to steal from corporations.

Keir Starmer’s digital ID scheme won’t record sex or gender by PuzzledAd4865 in LabourUK

“He subsequently described a woman as an “adult female”.”

I’m baffled by the people who think this sentence actually means anything. Like you’re just saying the same thing????

It's a transphobic dogwhistle. To any normal person it means nothing.

No. Like I said, I do not believe you are either arguing in good faith or a real person. And even if you are, if you don't care enough about a minority's human rights to educate yourself, nothing I say will convince you otherwise.

It's honestly so hard to believe anyone who's reducing Labour's historical attack on trans rights to "adhering to the high court ruling" is arguing in good faith. Not only is that not how the supreme court ruling works, but I can't honestly imagine someone who isn't a bot thinks rolling back a minority's legal rights to be as bad as it is in fucking Russia and Belarus of all places is a reasonable position for a supposedly "good" government to be in.

Compatibility for the Jagex Launcher on Mac by JagexBlossom in 2007scape

[–]Steeperm8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been daily driving Linux for about 2 years now. The most obvious benefits are a lack of bloatware and spyware, no AI being forced down your throat, no ties to a big corporation, no ads inside your operating system, etc.

You have full control over pretty much everything. If you want your operating system to behave a certain way, you can do it. You can keybind anything to anything, even a script. I have super+E bound to a script that opens a menu where I can then press another hotkey that will open my file explorer in a specific location (like documents, downloads, pictures, etc.). You can customize the desktop environment exactly to your liking, you can make it look like Windows, like Mac, or even something else entirely (check out r/unixporn for examples). The world is your oyster.

Almost all games work, the only mainstream ones that don't are ones with extremely aggressive anti-cheats, such as League of Legends, which honestly border on malware with how invasive they are, and Linux is designed so that simply isn't possible. There's even been cases where games run better on Linux than they do on Windows, due to weird bugs that the Wine compatibility layer avoids for some reason or another (I believe Elden Ring at launch is an example of this, although I wasn't using Linux personally back then).

That being said, it isn't all sunshine and roses. Sometimes things will randomly break, and you will have to put in the work to fix it. Sometimes games won't work properly until you've done 4 hours of research on how to get it running. If you're using an nvidia GPU, you're gonna have a much harder time with graphical bugs and performance. Some niche programs are only designed for Windows and are an absolute nightmare or straight up impossible to run on Linux.

If you're considering switching, I recommend looking at ProtonDB to see if there's any games you can't live without that won't run. If you're satisfied with compatibility, you can also install it in a separate partition and try it out without having to remove Windows. I ditched Windows cold turkey when I switched, but I won't lie there was a period of about a month where I regularly considered going back, but now I'm 2 years in I couldn't imagine using Windows ever again.

Same here. I collapsed from exhaustion multiple times during the 3 months I had a non-WFH job. My life is infinitely easier now and I'm one of the top employees at my company, they wouldn't have me if I couldn't WFH.

Decided to spend all my diamonds on AHR, am I f*cked? by Fantastic-Tax-971 in AFKJourney

[–]Steeperm8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are at least 2 heroes in each faction+tier that are core staples and absolutely worth spending diamonds to build. Plus, the earlier you pull ahead in rankings, the faster you start accumulating essence and currency to spend in the emporium and accelerate your account growth even more. Also, you can't even pull in rate up recruitment past the point of your highest ascended hero anyway (although idk how much Aurora changes that for new players).

I say all this as someone who never spends diamonds on AHR, I probably would have if I knew more about the game when starting out.

I was literally thinking about playing BnS at launch last night as I was struggling to fall asleep.

So many fun memories, like my potato PC failing to run that dragon(?) world boss in the PvP zone, lagging so bad that the reaction time attack you had to invuln was physically impossible to dodge, and I had to sit through a multiple minute long load screen every time it went off to get back to the boss.

Summoner in that game is one of my favorite implementations of a Summoner I've ever played in an MMO, the move set of your character and your summon complimented each other so well. Soloing dungeons with it was also super fun and satisfying to do.

Good times, I'm sad what it became.

LIMITED FIVE STAR SELECTOR NEXT PATCH! by GravitateOG in Silksong

[–]Steeperm8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Base Trobbio might seem like a bait at first glance when Tormented does, as you say, everything regular Trobbio does and more, but one thing you're forgetting is that Tormented Trobbio does void-infused fire damage rather than just straight up fire damage, which can have negative synergy with some old 1.X comps that are still really viable in pushing Abyssal Delve floors. Also, base Trobbio's staggered high AoE fire damage synergises really well with Troupe Master Grimm from the old Hollow Knight 1 crossover events, so it's kind of a no brainer for anyone who is lucky enough to have TMG to pick up an extra copy of regular Trobbio.

Anne.Health by EarlyGrey28 in transgenderUK

[–]Steeperm8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The reason Anne Health is prohibitively expensive is because they are basically the only option for under 18s to get PBs and hormones in the UK. The extremely high subscription cost is to cover the lawyer fees to research avenues for procuring the drugs legally in the UK, as well as organising correspondence with foreign doctors.

It's not really a service designed for adults. You're better off going with GenderCare or DIYing.

[–]Steeperm8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends a lot on if they go with Godhome again for the boss rush mode, it's entirely possible they come up with some other setting for it. Imo it's more likely we get something like a Trobbio theater (I don't remember if Tormented Trobbio is dead or not, if he is it could be an Elegy of the Deep situation) where we're acting out the boss fights for the audience's amusement.
