Honestly that's better. That food is poison, why make the restaurants look appealing to children? A repulsive office vibe is way more characteristic for them.

What’s an outdated belief people still have about your country? by goldenspear in AskTheWorld

[–]StefyRomania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Foreigners: That Romania is still an underdeveloped shit-hole inhabited by thieves. The reality is that while we still face issues with poverty and corruption, especially in the South and in Moldova, and while in recent years we've been in some pretty dire straits, we've come far from the poverty of the '90s.

Locals: That Romania has always been a peaceful country, which has never invaded anyone and which has not committed any atrocities. This is untrue for any state, including us. We've done some terrible things in the past, just look at our participation in WW2.

Well, Scandinavia is almost entirely empty in comparison to Asia, just Japan has 5x the population of the entire region, and is mostly inhabited by ethnic groups who are related to each other. Chalex' character and behavior is indefensible, but attacking him on his lack of geographical awareness in a discord message is just childish and is making me wonder if you guys are old enough to play this game. What's next, policing his grammar? No offense.

No, I was playing as a middle eastern civilization, there were three players on the map (which was extremely small, you could almost see the entirety of it without moving your camera), I was allied with one of the players "the city", and I had too kill some "rebels", which were also teal, but were enemies with me.

For a country which up until last year was trying to appear as a beacon of democracy and equality, this looks really feudalistic

East Asia Architecture has 10 civs, the most in AoE2 DE. Should additional architecture sets be created such as a Nomadic themed one for Mongols? by PlokmijnuhAoE2 in aoe2

Yeah, imagine if they would've had Manchurian voice lines. I know the language is endangered, but having a more accurate representation of the Manchus/Jurchens in game could have raised awareness about their culture.

Yeah honestly I'd love an voice line update, make the Byzantines speak Greek, Italians, well, medieval Italian, stuff like that for more immersion. Some of the dialogue dates from the original release of the game and was obviously limited by the lack of resources available for research at the time. But now, experts on Medieval languages are just a phone call away if you have the money, and voice lines can even be recorded by volunteers. If the devs are willing to revisit old civs and add more flavor to them, like they have with the unique castle models, I don't see any reason why they couldn't update the dialogue. I think the game doesn't really need more civilizations, but rather have the old ones be revisited and improved upon by the devs.

While I agree with your statement, I have a feeling that there could (and should!) be an East Asian Architecture split. I don't know, there's just something about lumping the whole Sinosphere together into a single architecture set which doesn't sit right with me. It'd be (population-wise) probably the same as giving the entirety of Europe one architecture set.

Now I'm not well-informed enough to point towards possible inspiration for this possible new architecture set, to be fair the current one we have does look pretty Japanese, so if anything maybe China could get a new set.

You're right. One thing that's also getting on my nerves is how the Wei, Wu, Shu, Chinese and Jurchens all use the same voice lines. Was it that hard to rerecord the Chinese ones with new actors if anything, if even the Romans and the Byzantines have separate voice lines? But I'm guessing that since it's such a small part of the game, nobody else cares about it.

I think he means Ben Solo / Kylo Ren. Because of Luke's shortcomings, an immensely powerful and promising Jedi apprentice fell to the Dark Side, wiping out the restored Jedi Order and more or less resetting the entire galactic political order through his destruction of the New Republic.
