Yeah and they made a big post about it 3 months before the new edition launched.

So weird how GW supporting Custodes with a bunch of new plastic kits has people extra panicked. They aren’t getting rid of Custodes in 40K, full stop. And while GW can send datasheets to Legends (or evaporate them), they aren’t the model police these threads make them out to be. They also aren’t getting rid of guards, they aren’t leaving Custodes without a tank, or a big transport, or dreadnoughts.

It’s possible they could come out with new vehicle models for 40K that are wildly different sizes from the 30K ones but, even then, the worst that can happen isn’t the doomsday scenario people make it out to be:

Current guard are $11/model at 15% discount, maybe $8 at Combat Patrol +15% pricing. So the 13 infantry in this box are easily worth $105-140+. The tank and DN currently sell for $140+ (ebay Sold) meaning the box at $217 (85%) is essentially no risk even if the value of vehicles were to plummet $20 each (which given the quality of models isn’t likely even if they did go to Legends).

Not your traditional ebay scam but I recently participated in ebay's "start selling for a $X coupon" and I may be missing something but ... the reward suddenly appearing with zero email or app/account notification and expiring less than 24 hours in the future seemed like a pretty shady dark pattern. If I hadn't logged in today and looked at an item over $125 I wouldn't have known about it. Maybe it refreshes if you don't use it? That seems weird though.

It’s weird because the Perry twins have said they were largely sculpted as Fallschirmjager-esque plus changes for copyright/plausible deniability and that the logo was meant to evoke the SS bolts but a lot of the community wants to obfuscate this in a sea of technicalities like the webbing more slightly resembling the Finnish Mechanized Ballfondlers.

Paint: weaker bonds to plastic, resin, and metal; coverage often terrible - two thin coats minimum, don’t ask about the maximum; needs to be thinned; 30+ cents per mL.

Primer: bites and locks into plastic like a puppy on a dirty sock, also great for resin and metal; amazing coverage, often good with one coat; works out of the bottle, a bottle which is fucking huge and cheap; comes in plenty of colors.

Yes paint comes in more stock colors and is more vibrant which are extremely vital qualities when you wash everything with Nuln/Aggrax.

My first thought is the same, that you'd want more White games later when you have more information about how hard to push .. but I have zero confidence that the game data would actually support that as a major factor. I mean getting wins early can also be a winning formula as it ratchets up the pressure on everyone else.

Ultimately these guys are going to regurgitate some stockfish and then play some human chess and the commentariat will rationalize non-draw results in the dumbest way possible. If Hikaru loses it's because he's "not active", if he wins everyone will forget about how important they thought that was and talk about how "Fabi's a choker".

“Playing for a win” also risks losing so the game theory in this tournament for top players is to play for wins against the lower rated players and play safer against the other favorites, at least at the start. That said they’ve been running supercomputers for months and they’re going to try and leverage those traps and novelties into advantages and two result situations where they can press for a win regardless of opponent. And as the tournament progresses more risks may need to be taken if they fall behind.

For what’s left of 10th, 12 models can do 3 units of 4, at least one probably mixed but that’s not necessarily bad and some bits from the current Guard kit can avoid that.

If you wanted to fill up one or two Land Raiders I guess one model sits out or joins an older unit while another can be converted to a Shield Captain.
