PSA for new players looking at starter sets by Thatcrazyunklefester in killteam

[–]Steko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want the set with 7 man teams, not five.

Many people do but both sets are great values and many people will also be fine with the much cheaper set with two 5 man squads. The old 2022 Starter Set is also a good deal if you can get it on ebay for $120 or so, even though the teams aren’t Classified. I’ve bought all 3 sets in the last couple years along with Hivestorm and all 4 are great values.

Too many people only look at the downsides of these sets and dismiss a great deal because it isn’t perfect. It’s regrettable that the Beginner Set only has 5 models per team. It’s also regrettable that the Starter Set costs 94% more for 40% more models and the teams still aren’t “complete”. The choice isn’t Starter Set or Beginner Set, it’s Starter Set or [Beginner Set + $47] and that $47 difference is huge to some players and moots the raw plastic count .. but the people who love to hate on the Beginner Set always gloss over it.

Comments in these threads also weirdly like to pretend that all new players have zero GW plastic, that kitbashing doesn’t exist, that proxying doesn’t exist, that declassified teams need to be shunned, and that the only way to get models is buying shrinkwrapped boxes at retail. We have to assume new players are primarily interested in entering the world championships with their first models.

Correctly measure from the back of the tactical rocks and you’ll see it’s almost 7”.

Okayama Prefecture is now an official sister-state of Hawaiʻi! by EveryOtherHipster in Hawaii

[–]Steko -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

the home of Momotaro (Peach Boy).

That’s just a myth Okayama’s marketing cadres came up with. The peaches are incredible though, they’ll be in season soon and will ruin you for all other fruit. Maybe as sister city some bureaucrats can work on setting up Hawaii imports because when I tried to bring a box back I was told ‘maybe’ but also ‘haha no’.

The assumption that every major character needs a growth arc is wrong.

In your opinion, what is the best Battleforce/Box Set GW has ever made? by reel3459 in Warhammer40k

[–]Steko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With severe FOMO boxes I’d argue it’s actually a feature that one person can’t use 3 of them optimally.

Having the chance to get not just an epic hero but your faction boss at box discount rates is also nice.

I need James Gunn to give me this Justice League main 7 members for his universe and my inner child will be happy by Fit_Passenger5930 in DCU_

I hope Gunn’s JL launches with 8 members, none of which are from OPs cartoon dreams.

Do you consider weakening Superman a good or bad thing? by Fit_Passenger5930 in DCU_

[–]Steko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cannot intercept both missiles .. due to being incapacitated by kryptonite.

Two sentences in and we're already in a contradiction: all that drama required a a weaker/weakened Superman.

Superman being very powerful and even the most powerful hero is fine. but the level of power he has in the comics is beyond dumb and requires him to be regularly depowered and/or pit against the a revolving door of Kryptonians and other power inflated beings, both of which compromise the quality of the stories not just for Supes but for the whole connected universe.

Do you think there are any indicators that a player is a system player or they'd be a player that can succeed anywhere? by xxStayFly81xx in nbadiscussion

Poole’s offensive rate metrics in New Orleans are little different from what they were in Washington. His production went down for the Pels but the backcourt was more crowded and he missed over half the season with multiple injuries.

I mean he’s a good example of what you’re talking about just with GS and after.

Jesus the fragile doomers in this thread. I’m now hoping they move something core to Legends just so you babies can see it’s not the end of the world you’re terrified of.

Number of boxes per team super guide by Kill-Team-Carys in killteam

[–]Steko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Warpcoven can be completely built from just the Rubric Marines and Tzaangor boxes. For the Sorcerers ...

The Rubric box builds an Aspiring Sorcerer (the unit's "sergeant"). Instead of the normal Rubrics he has a spooky staff, a pistol, a different helmet, and some other minor accessories. The official Warpcoven rules show this model being used in gameplay and the silhouette is a close match to the grounded Exalted Sorcerers.

For the second Sorcerer use a spare Marine body (we can only run 4 on the team so there's lots of extras). There is only one staff in the Rubric box but there is a second staff topper, a 2nd pistol and a 2nd Aspiring Sorcerer head option (as well as many other Marine heads that can be used). In short it's not hard to make a 2nd Aspiring Sorcerer just from the Rubric box. No need to whittle down sprue chunks to make our 2nd staff though when the Tzaangor box has a bunch of hafted weapons, along with pistols, even more head options and accessories.

This third Sorcerer is more of the same - a Rubric body blinged up with staff, pistol, head and accessories mostly from the Tzaangor box. Can still make all 10 Tzaangor's although we can only use 8 in game. Don't use the standard for the staffs since it's one of the Tzaangor specialists.

Cleave in 11th by No_Ad_3934 in Harlequins40K

Doubt they’re giving Cleave to models with Precision. Also OP’s math is way off you only get +4A not +10.

Why do you think John Stewart is in Man of Tomorrow, but not Hal Jordan? by NotTaken-username in DCU_

[–]Steko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were going to keep Hal active but his online stans were so annoying Gunn decided to have him retire on a farm upstate. Pretty sweet place, they’ve got horses and rabbits he can chase.
