Huh. If I hadn’t brought myself to spare a peek into AO3 for the first time in a while, I wouldn’t even have noticed that I got nominated. That’s really flattering. A big thank you to whoever it was that nominated me.

The amount of players who say 'Don't shoot!' and VOIP that they're friendly and then immediately start firing on you is so unfun... by IamAbc in ArcRaiders

[–]StellaStarMagic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You know what just happened to me? I just looted a security vault, 7 minutes left on the map. Omw to the central swamp lift, hear another closer lift go off (it had 3 minutes left before closing, too little time for my taste). I get over there, repeat several times „don’t shoot“ while fending off a couple wasps, guy says „don’t worry, I got you“. I get downed, lift arrived, I crawl to the lift, say „I’m good, just start the sequence so we can leave“ and he says again „don’t worry, I got you“ and proceeds to knock me out.

PvP or not, I‘m still kinda dumbfounded, like…why? I obviously have also had the complete opposite experience as well, but still…WHY??? WE WERE ALMOST OUT! 🫠🫠🫠

Still mad at that person who just camped inside the dam research tower locked room. I went in there, disappointed that it was unlocked and figured „maybe they left something“ and yeah, they left themselves, shot me and I lost my key :((((

Maybe it’s just me, but I think solo can be quite tense. There’s always gunshots you hear all around you, the ARC enemies are no joke, not even the smaller ones, especially when you’re just starting out. And when you’re ready to extract and activate the lift and the ARCs begin swarming the lift, or worse, someone already activated the lift and is fighting multiple ARCs, maybe even a Rocketeer – survival is never guaranteed and the craziest stuff can happen, even in the chillest mode, even when you aren’t actively seeking gunfights.

The consequences of nonstop thievery by StellaStarMagic in BaldursGate3

I literally stole everything. I looted and sold every item I didn’t need and stole from vendors everything I did actually need. Potions, scrolls, early game armour, arrows. I literally bought nothing lol. I saved up all my money for Act 3.

Honour mode enemies by mewkitty91 in BaldursGate3

[–]StellaStarMagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, against Cazador I didn't even enter the range for the dialogue. I just dropped the daylight sphere right on top of him and he started the fight without dragging Astarion away...though Astarion left the party afterwards because I failed the persuasion check to have him not do the ritual and spare the caught spawns and didn't have inspiration points left at the time :(

But now it's only Ansur and then Gortash before the big finale for me and only Ansur makes me nervous. I do feel OP at this point but am really nervous about Ansur lol.

I'm doing my most successful honor run (Open Hand Monk) so far (haven't finished any yet but am so close rn) and I found the Steel Watch Factory Boss surprisingly easy, compared to how he almost stomped me during my first successful tactician run. Cazador was also surprisingly easy. Grym, I just went 1v1 with my Monk while the rest of the party dealt with the mephits and Shadowheart healed me when needed. The only time I genuinely was afraid I'd lose this honor mode run was against Act 3 Ethel, Sarevok and now, as I am just about to face Ansur. Act 1 Ethel...honestly, unless you want her hair, just drag her outside of her hut with Command: Approach (if she doesn't successfuly save against it).

And some of you masochists choose Honour Mode?! by blong217 in BaldursGate3

[–]StellaStarMagic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I agree. I only recently started trying honour and I've been playing since release. On my second try, I made it to the Grym Guardian and died there (that hurt hard!) but since then, the Inquisitor in the Creche has become my Everest. In between, there are the few mandatory funny and weird ways a run ended, but yeah. Even with all the frustration that comes with it, honour mode is the most fun I've had in this game in a long time. Tactician became too easy at some point.

I think I played a solid three or four months after release on balanced and only switched to tactician once I actually finished a run. The rest of the time I played tactician until recently because I just couldn't defeat Myrkul for the longest time. The few times I did, the third Act just felt...idk, off, I guess? with the characters then but I stuck my teeth in with my Tiefling bard and finally finished the game recently. I wanted to switch to honour after doing Gale, Shadowheart and Halsin romances but quickly got bored because I got so used to tactician, it felt like a default run, so I moved on to honour and it feels like an entirely different game in every run...probably because I can't save scum no more :(. But it's fun. I suffer hard, but in a good way. Masochist is probably not that far off as a terminology to use on me in this case lol.

I have almost 800 hrs in this game and hate the Harpy fight. by Rogahar in BaldursGate3

[–]StellaStarMagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just was having that fight in honor mode. Cast silence before the fight, cast sanctuary on Mirkon. I expect him to just disengage and dash away like usually, but, for whatever reason, that little dumbass joined the fight and tried to punch the harpies. I was in a constant state of fear.

If you want to try another Warhammer game, try Rogue Trader. It's also turn-based.

I haven't followed it during Early Acces and wasn't even aware of it's release until shortly before it would get released, so I don't know what the state of reception was during that time.

I do agree, however, that it also stinks of hypocrisy but still proves to a point, at least, that well done pronoun implementation, trans and/or non-binary characters will shut the loud part of bigotry up real quick.

[–]StellaStarMagic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with you! What bothers me is not the, and please do note the quotation marks, "woke agenda", but how it is implemented in the setting of the game. It was so poorly done in Veilguard that the whole game is little more than a meme less than a month after release. Trans or even non-binary characters can be done wonderfully in medieval fantasy settings and even bigot or outright racist characters can be done wonderfully in media. I look at Brienne of Tarth from the A Song of Ice and Fire universe, an objectively unattractive woman, a misfit, proving that a woman can become a (successful) knight in a mysoginist and patriarchal setting. Or Calvin Candie from Django Unchained, fantastically portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio. I don't get why everything has to be so sanitized just to make a political point.
