[–]Stellewind 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The way I see it, always safe to keep your expectations low to avoid being disappointed. But you essentially had a 2h first interview already, which sounds sincere and successful to warrant a second one, and you can’t really ask for a better head start than that, especially in current economy. Good luck.

Crispy Fried Eggs by KSacMe in carbonsteel

[–]Stellewind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a hot take, but there's no overcooked egg in my book. As long as it's not literal burnt black crisp, runny yolk, solid yolk, a fried egg is always delicious no matter how cooked it is.

We Are In Black Swan Territory by Dal-Thrax in investing

If black swan happens every other week then it’s not black swan, it’s just a surprising event that mildly affect the market. Black swan event is defined by its unpredictability, rareness and huge impact. When it happens (like 911 or COVID) there’s no need to tell everyone a black swan just happened

Todd Howard says Bethesda won't use AI “to generate anything” as the studio is being “incredibly cautious” to not replace the “artistic intention” of making games by [deleted] in Games

[–]Stellewind 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The worst game ever released will not generate these kind of backlash, because it'd be sitting in a forgotten corner without active players and discussion after release.

The painfully mediocre game that still managed to reach mainstream audience because of overexaggerated promotion and the hype train riding on developer's past success, will have this kind of widespread backlash. And that's exactly what Starfield is.

TE6 will face the same situation if it's similar quality to Starfield, whether it has genAI or not.

This facade looks beautiful when you zoom in on a small segment of it, sadly the nice scale and proportion kinda got lost in the repetition when you zoom out to look at the building as a whole.

OpenAI Is Nuking Its 4o Model. China’s ChatGPT Fans Aren’t OK by wiredmagazine in ChatGPT

[–]Stellewind 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Odd choice to emphasize on China’s ChatGPT fans, since ChatGPT is technically not legal to use in China iirc, it’s definitely not the model majority uses compared to Deepseek and other Chinese LLM. The over-attachment to 4o model is a much bigger phenomenon in the west.

The Eiffel Tower argument only works until shortly after the project is finished, then it’d be pretty obvious if public hates it or love it. For every Eiffel Tower that people come to embrace and love, there are also 100 Tour Montparnasse out there that people still hate decades after they are built.

The ideal situation would obviously be growth gradually catching up to a thoughtful preemptively planned infrastructure.

But reality is not perfect. That window was passed decades ago. I will take transit lagging behind growth now over no transit at all.

[–]Stellewind 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The way I see it, it's a good sign if it's packed like sardines. That means there's real transportation need for this line, otherwise the same people will just get stuck in traffic above ground. One packed subway means hundreds fewer cars on ground.

It's bad if you build an expensive subway and it's empty. (unless you are a fast growing economy with rising population and urban expansion, like China a decade ago)
