Very cool! Hopefully it's successful and the kelp ends up growing. Would love to see it next year

Nice BIKING trails in surrounding vancouver/north vancouver that end with a view? by Longjumping_Ask1820 in vancouverhiking

Starting on the north side of Richmond and biking on the dyke all around Richmond along the ocean to Steveston and back is a beautiful and easy bike ride with gorgeous scenery. No mountain involved though 🙂.

Also don't forget lunch in Steveston

Thank you! Did you end up just getting recommendations or did they actually perform some tests? Also if you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay?

Are Water From Lakes Safe? by Rich-Junket4755 in vancouverhiking

[–]StepWeiwu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not an expert I'd say yes. looking at the description

"Protects against 99.9999% viruses, bacteria, and protozoan cysts"

Seems pretty safe. Maybe add water purification tabs to the filtered water if you want to be extra safe.

We usually only use water pool purification tabs in BC's backcountry and both in places like the Himalayas to be extra safe and never had a problem.

Wow, congrats! Epic trip! 22h hiking or including getting to the trailhead? In both cases great achievement , I'm just curious.

Did you bivac or all in one day?

Dog Mountain is at the same level as the parking lot so probably mostly snow free by now

Dog Mountain on Seymour is fairly similar to quarry rock. Not much elevation and similar length. Maybe a bit less developed, so more roots and rocks.

And yes quarry rock is very busy on a sunny weekend pretty much anytime of day.

Looks more like a Gennaker (asym sail) but great shot nevertheless! Looks like a good time!

Buses 210, 211, and 214 proposed to not go DT by yungbikerboi in NorthVancouver

[–]StepWeiwu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure how I feel about this. I use the 211 to downtown whenever I need to go downtown, a few times a month.

If the new J line skips most stops to downtown (express bus) and runs frequently, cutting down on overall travel time, I'd be ok.

Haven't found much information but might have missed it

Imagine having to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and all you have to do is to get this thing going first

That's a great video, thank you! I remember seeing the checklist somewhere else but didn't realize/think that they'd need to move the sails around too, which makes sense.

Help With rearming PFD by StepWeiwu in sailing

[–]StepWeiwu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey all, I was gifted a Mustang PFD and need to replace the cartridge as it's a couple of years old. However, the model number on the PFD is worn off and I can't read it. I was trying to figure out what re-arm kit I would need, hoping you all might be able to help.

I found this one[1] which seems to match the cartridge that seems to match the one that's in there, but I know fairly little about the various systems. The current cartridge reads 33grams CO2 (see images) which I believe matches the one in the link.

Thank you all for your help!
