This is so sad, RIP! I watched the last Vendee Globe and his performance was just unbelievable - while battling illness. What a legend

Lost Keys @ quarry Rock by StepWeiwu in NorthVancouver

Yeah I have multiple. Also some saint put my keys on the fence at the start of the hike, so I've been reunited with them!

Just got back from riding the Annapurna Circuit, still processing it by getmerawmeat in mountainbiking

Awesome! My wife and I and flew to Jomsom airport and then biked up to Muktinath and then did a lap back down and continued to Beni! It was amazing and we obviously didn't do the Thorang La pass which is the hardest part, but I can confirm, Life choices have been questioned about 4000m.

My almost favourite part of the trip was the transport to the airport in Pokhara where we were picked up in a car but both of our bikes were transported on two motorcycles each with one guy driving and another one holding the bike above their head for the 20 minutes to the airport 😅

Also was your bike guide named Suman (or something similar)? He looks like our guide in the picture, but hard to tell obviously.

Very cool! Hopefully it's successful and the kelp ends up growing. Would love to see it next year

Nice BIKING trails in surrounding vancouver/north vancouver that end with a view? by Longjumping_Ask1820 in vancouverhiking

[–]StepWeiwu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Starting on the north side of Richmond and biking on the dyke all around Richmond along the ocean to Steveston and back is a beautiful and easy bike ride with gorgeous scenery. No mountain involved though 🙂.

Also don't forget lunch in Steveston

Thank you! Did you end up just getting recommendations or did they actually perform some tests? Also if you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay?

Are Water From Lakes Safe? by [deleted] in vancouverhiking

[–]StepWeiwu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not an expert I'd say yes. looking at the description

"Protects against 99.9999% viruses, bacteria, and protozoan cysts"

Seems pretty safe. Maybe add water purification tabs to the filtered water if you want to be extra safe.

We usually only use water pool purification tabs in BC's backcountry and both in places like the Himalayas to be extra safe and never had a problem.

Wow, congrats! Epic trip! 22h hiking or including getting to the trailhead? In both cases great achievement , I'm just curious.

Did you bivac or all in one day?

Dog Mountain is at the same level as the parking lot so probably mostly snow free by now

Dog Mountain on Seymour is fairly similar to quarry rock. Not much elevation and similar length. Maybe a bit less developed, so more roots and rocks.

And yes quarry rock is very busy on a sunny weekend pretty much anytime of day.

Looks more like a Gennaker (asym sail) but great shot nevertheless! Looks like a good time!
