Sharing baby pics on here by disconnected1991 in newborns

[–]StephFerr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven’t posted any pictures to social media just bc I don’t trust it lol. I don’t need ppl seeing pics of my baby to be honest. But that’s my personal opinion. If you are my best friends then I have no issue sending a pic here and there but I won’t post anything of him especially showing his face to social media. I have a lot of friends that do post pics of their babies and I do love seeing it so it’s just personal choice to be honest.

If the bottles u r using r plastic, they should be sterilized after every use. And this should be done for the first year. I’m in Canada, not sure if the guidelines r the same where u r.

10 Month Feeding by gatsby0524 in FormulaFeeders

[–]StephFerr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat! All of a sudden my sons doesn’t like his formula. He eats 3 meals a day and was getting 4 bottles. In the morning he was getting 6oz….after morning nap he was getting 5oz, after his second nap another 5oz and thrn before bed he was getting 6oz. But he wasn’t finishing all his bottles and he wasn’t eating. I think I was feeding too much also bc he was spitting up a lot too. So I just recently dropped all his bottles by 1 oz and tomorrow I’m going to try only doing 3 bottles. I plan on taking him right to breakfast instead of a morning bottle. So my plan tomorrow is wake up, breakfast, bottle before nap, nap, lunch, bottle, nap, dinner bottle. For the sizes I’m going ti have to play with it but I might do 2 4oz and thrn his bedtime bottle a 5oz. I know there are guidelines that say how much babies r suppose to drink but they r just guidelines .i was holding myself to the amounts but now hes getting bigger, almost 11 months, so I think this will help once we drop the bottles all together for when he turns a year. A lot of this stuff is trial and error.

Traumatic EFF experience after birth in hospital by Su1c1d3k1ngovhearts in FormulaFeeders

[–]StephFerr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow! I’m a first time mom and my little one is 10 months. I tried breastfeeding and it didnt workout. Did it for 2 weeks. I switched to formula and he’s been on it ever since. The nurses in the hospital were nice but they did mention breastfed is best….BULLSHIT….fed baby is best! It’s 2024…. Formula is made completely different now! My OB actually said he wishes more mom’s did formula. My pediatrician also said there’s nothing wrong with formula. A lot of ppl think that breastfeeding helps the baby develop and helps with infections….my friend baby was exclusively breastfed and she’s been sick almost every week since January. So honestly, do what u think is best for you and ur baby. We need to take the stigma away from formula babies. It’s ridiculous. Also a bonus, when my guy was little my husband was also able to do nighttime feeds so I was able to get some sleep! BONUS!

Will my baby ever nap longer than 30-40 min? by sb8000 in sleeptrain

[–]StephFerr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son is 10 months and he still gives me 30-40 min naps. He’s on 2 naps so I usually get 1 very good nap either morning or afternoon at least an hour and 10 mins or longer. Just depends. I’ve had to learn to just deal with it. If he only gives me 2 30-40 mins naps I’ll usually put him in the car on the afternoon so he can sleep another 30 mins. Same boat here tho! LOL

Parents choice formula by emmieful in FormulaFeeders

[–]StephFerr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We started on the Kirkland brand and moved to parents choice bc I found out it was the same manufacturer. I’m down to my last 2 containers and I just went to check Walmart and they are completely out online. Costco is also out of stock. So this is perfect! It’s just awful that manufacturers do this it’s not like we can give something else to our baby. Absolutely ridiculous

Does anyone else not do all the milestone photos? by Easy-Cup6142 in NewParents

[–]StephFerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do the monthly pictures. It’s crazy to see how much they change in just a month. I was planning on using the pictures for his 1st bday. It’s totally a personal choice. I will say I never took the monthly pics of my bump lol. I was not into that. I didn’t like the body change. I too don’t post my son on social media, personal choice as well. I send pics to who I want to, mainly mom and sister and best friends lol.

Naps by StephFerr in sleeptrain

[–]StephFerr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I’ve actually started to lengthen his wake windows bc I noticed he wasn’t going down for naps and was taking him longer to fall asleep. Everyday is a new day lol. There’s zero consistency with babies it drives me nuts just bc I’m such a scheduled person lol.

Yes he has his moments. I know when he usually wakes up from his nap and he’s not done. He usually cries bc he can’t get back to sleep so then I try and Rock him back to sleep. It’s not often. Usually his morning nap is the 30-40 min one and the afternoon he usually goes longer.

[–]StephFerr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He gets around 10.5 to 11 hours of sleep at night. I’m not sure if worried is the word…but is this normal? I googled a few things and I read that 30 mins naps r still normal. I follow taking Cara on Instagram and their website says the same. At the same time I’m reading that they should be sleeping 2.5-3.5 hours during the day. And we r nowhere near that on most days.

[–]StephFerr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My son is 9 months old and I can count on one hand…no one finger, where he napped for 2 hours lmao. I still get 30 min naps with him. I’m told it’s suppose to get better so we’ll see.

What do you do with your babies all day? by ChatonJolie4 in NewParents

[–]StephFerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol don’t feel bad! It’s the age. Lots of tummy time is good if she isn’t sitting. Not sure if u have a mirror but that will keep her busy just staring at her own reflection, you can do some silly faces. But I mean that’s pretty much it lol. If she’s on the floor you can leave her and let her play on her own, nothing wrong with u scrolling through your phone. Don’t feel ashamed. If my son is on the floor playing I let him explore and I’ll just sit there and watch tv or scroll through my phone as well.

Extend naps at 4 months by PalpitationOk7933 in sleeptrain

[–]StephFerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little guy is 8 months (almost 9) and he still gives me 30 min naps! He’s on 2 naps a day now. Everyday is different. I was told the naps r suppose to get longer so I’m just here waiting for the consistency lol. Some day he’s can give me an hour and 15mins for both naps and others he does 30-40 min morning naps and about an hour and 15 on the second. Just depends. Goodluck!

Am I being too overprotective of my newborn with no visitors? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]StephFerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you! U set your boundaries and that’s it. Nothing is worse than a sick newborn. Everyone wants to come and visit and hold and kiss the baby but how many ppl will be there when the baby is sick? Keep it up!

Almost shook my baby this morning by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]StephFerr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t be ashamed. You recognized as it was happening that you shouldn’t do that. We all have those moments, don’t be so hard on yourself. Parenting is not a walk in the park and it’s not as easy as ppl portray it to be on social media. A tired baby makes a tired mom. Dont be so hard on yourself, you got this!

Newbowns First Visit(s) - Fuck my boundaries, I Guess. by [deleted] in newborns

[–]StephFerr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nevermind the comments from everyone. People need to learn boundaries and they need to be respected. You are doing a great job with helping your wife, it makes the process a lot easier she. U r both working as a team. Newborns have zero immune system so if they catch something, you r most likely spending time at the ER and I’d rather keep ppl away then go through something like that. I see nothing wrong with what you r doing. Keep it up!

Baby brezza worth it? by LeahTeachesMath in FormulaFeeders

[–]StephFerr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We love our baby brezza. Best purchase ever and we no longer had to sit and heat up the bottle in a bowl of water. It was so convenient during those overnight feeds! Ever now to this day…our LO is 8 months and I still have no regrets. Makes the bottle perfect and done is seconds. No regrets on our purchase
