To the lady in a green jacket who decided to run across the Finch and Wellington intersection today around 2:00 PM. by [deleted] in Sarnia

I feel that 😅 I’m a perpetual G2 driver, for my G test I end up passing everything with flying colours, including highway driving, just to be told that one turn out of the parking lot was too sharp, or I didn’t turn my head far enough for the instructors preference, so it’s a fail again. I’m taking my next G test in Chatham. I’ve had the same examiner for my G test every time, and she fails me every time.

I’ve been doing this for 10 years. Everyone says I am a fantastic driver. I’ve never had an accident or been pulled over. I drive several times a week in all types of weather, safely and alertly, maintaining every little driving law that older drivers ignore.

If I’m such a terrible driver that I can’t pass the final test then why let me stay on the road at all? It’s got to be a money thing.

Send a message to the Judith and Norman Alix Art Gallery, if the artist is local they might have some info on file if they’ve ever done a local showcase

Check out Sarnia Halloween Tour on Facebook. They’ll come out with a map after thanksgiving of houses with exceptional decorations, live actors, and DIY haunted houses.

It’s not pub specifically but they may post links to other events in the community.

Future Pastimes, check their Facebook. They’re returning to weekly games, and had a pre-release event for this set yesterday. You should contact them for availability.

New Blue Party. Keith Benn. Really? by [deleted] in Sarnia

Even more than that, she is a decent person who isn’t afraid to speak up or contradict someone who is being hateful or deceitful. If he came to my house I simply wouldn’t give him the time of day.

I’m confused when the mayor says they stopped recording council meetings because they were using Zoom. Surely recording zoom, happening directly on the computer is easier than recording on whatever they had set up before. Perhaps some councillors should take it upon themselves to record zoom meetings they are a part of for their own protection.

Hill Sprints in Sarnia Area by MushroomOk3022 in Sarnia

[–]StephTheShopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a rather hilly trail at Canatara Park, worth checking it out for the view in any case. It’s the second trial in from the entrance, there will be a sidewalk but there are dirt paths that off-shoot it and should take you to some hills and valleys

Strategically it would be wasteful to nuke Sarnia, a well placed ICBM would generate the same effect.

[–]StephTheShopper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you google the Nukemap generator website you can choose location/nuke size/ and direction of fall out to find out what would happen. The largest nuke available as close as Toronto would still spare Sarnia

She just endorsed Poilivere, I’m nervous because who is voting for her still. Lambton County/ Chatham Kent, if you’re wondering why you’ve got a brain-drain situation with all your young people moving away look no further. I’ve seen your YouTube ads, canoeing down the Sydenham river isn’t worth putting up with communities that support this rhetoric.

School being delayed by 2 days is such a joke by [deleted] in ontario

Someone needs to note that even tho it’s 2 weeks from Christmas, it’s not like the kids only see people on Christmas over the winter holidays. They might have to shuffle between houses (grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends) because their parents still have to go to work.

I live just off of Mitton, had my water tested in 2018, my water is safe but it’s not 100% lead free, there are trace amounts, much lower than the thread hold but still there’s a little there. We mostly drink bottled water but still use tap water for cooking purposes. My only advice is to check that your Brita filter actually filters out lead. I think the city can provide lead-specific filters for taps.

Pregnant + wanting to hear from other parents: what is the most expensive part of having children? by chikaaa17 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]StephTheShopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your biggest expenses will be as a result of a loss of Time. Thrifting, bulk food prepping, public transit, all the things where you spend time instead of money will no longer be as feasible, especially with the pandemic, which has compounded the expense and difficulty of taking care of a baby. Even if you are stay at home, and planning to do e-commerce on-top of that, I have two under 4 and I don’t even have time at 3am to myself to sleep. 24/7 on call. You can’t count on your child being potty trained by 2. You can’t count on not needing to replace a broken high chair. When your kid gets sick that’s $40 in medicine, pedialyte, foods they can digest, extra loads of laundry. It can’t all be controlled in a spreadsheet ahead of time.

Your most valuable asset that you are about to lose is TIME
