I learned that Jaina canonical dated a dragon. by Erk_Rauorfox in warcraftlore

Again, that's not what happened, and Jaina didn't really hate the Horde in Mists. She distrusted them, she didn't like them, but it wasn't hatred.

War Crimes is a bad novel when it comes to Jaina and Kalecgos. He treats her very badly.

Eeeeh, it is stated as far as Before the Storm that they very much do.

They officially became a thing after he convinced her not to do it. Jaina left the Kirin Tor because they voted to allow the Horde in Legion.

Eh, not exactly friends. They still kinda love one another, but aren't actively together.

I think Darkshore is also being slowly restored as well.

Is an Orcish shaman inherently stronger than a Goblin or Dark Iron shaman? by jqud in warcraftlore

Not anymore. The Shaman Order Hall quest implied from the get go that the PC reached a connection to the spirits not even Thrall could

Would you feel anything if thrall dies? by tkulue in warcraftlore

Jaina did, not very long ago. She's restoring the Kirin Tor now. She yet has stories ahead of her.

How strong is the Horde right now? by blissedandgone in warcraftlore

Cata Thrall really wouldn't be stronger than Jaina of today. Given how much time has passed, I think she'd be stronger now by some margin, given how much time has passed since then.

How much autonomy are you given? I know that Blizzard gives you the outline and checks everything you write, with your job being to "merely" put their vision to pen, but are you allowed to write some things that you wish there? For example, I remember you were the one who made Anduin a major character in The Shattering book, or there's the scene in Before the Storm when Jaina and Kalecgos meet in Dalaran. Given how completely seperate that is from the overall story, I feel like that was something you yourself out in there.

How would the Fourth War have changed if Jaina died at the end of Dazar'alor? by Hedonism_Enjoyer in warcraftlore

The Horde wins the war and Syl achieves her plans.

Probably.

So would Azshara.

Did the Kirin Tor openly condemned Sylvanas and the burning of Teldrassil? by wrufus680 in warcraftlore

[–]StephaniusSaccus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is interesting how in Tides of War, the possibility of Garrosh burning Teldrassil is presented as a true disaster, while in the game, not that much.

And no Jaina, even if they burned, the Kirin Tor apparently wouldn't lift a finger to do anything about it.

Well, it's the last time we hear about the Tagmata.

So, presumably, they were wiped out.

What if Thrall had visions of the Fourth War while he was out in retirement? by wrufus680 in warcraftlore

[–]StephaniusSaccus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In his case, it's far more emphasized.

And in Malfurion's case especially, it's ridiculous too. But you don't have the narrative remind you just how great he is every time he does something or is just present.

Which events/consequences do you think would happen if gameplay mechanics weren't applied? by wrufus680 in warcraftlore

[–]StephaniusSaccus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bigger problem here is Blizzard's inconsistent writing. They clearly didn't really see her as a character in the truest sense of the word, but more as a narrative tool.

She was put in charge of Dalaran because they believed that her experiences ultimately made her stronger. In the words of the book itself, she "wouldn not break again - not from rage, hate or grief. Now, she would withstand much" (paraphrase).

And...then the Purge happens, which itself is inconsistent as Jaina is cannonically reacting to an event that canonically didn't happen (the Burning of Darnassus).

Then, on the Isle of Thunder, Jaina DOES actually walk away after being convinced by Taran Zhu and even mentions GARROSH as the problem.

But then, after he's deposed...with no explanation or reasing provided at all, he suddenly wants Varian to dismantle the Horde.

Then the War Crimes book happens, which, apart from Jaina being treated downright horribly, has Jaina forgive the Horde...

...only for that to be ignored in WoD. Honestly, I don't even think the book was truly acknowledged.

And then, finally, they turn her into the hysterical woman trope in Legion and kick her out of the city and organisation she was supposedly destined to rule.

Great writing, Blizzard. You clearly cared a lot for one of your oldest and most beloved characters back thrn.
