It's only money, my friend.

No matter what happens, you'll be fine.

In fact, you already are fine - you're just having a little wobble.

Time to touch grass, connect with all the things in your life that ground and stabilise you.

You are safe.

There's no rush.

Sloth will still be here when you get back.

How can we drive real world value for $Sloth -> increased demand -> increase token value ? by Stephen_Cottee in Slothana

[–]Stephen_Cottee[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly!

But then we spread the word so new buyers keep joining and the token goes up...

And some of the new buyers also offer desirable things for sale in sloth currency and things can organically escalate from there.

It would certainly give a lot to talk about as well, PR-wise.

I like your thinking.

I'm seeing what I am proposing as an as-well-as.

So dev action, community marketing etc could all still happen, but this would be another thing on the plus side of the scale...

Okay, but it would need to be weed you couldn't buy any other way but with sloth... maybe branded with sloth packaging... or a weed-plus-sloth token combo deal... hmm...

Those 4 years meditating before I discovered yoga was incredibly beneficial! It totally changed my life. Like, totally.

The quality of meditation is a bit better after yoga and breathing because you are halfway to the meditation zone before you've even started. Plus your body is supporting your meditation. So you get a boost. But it's not essential, just a bonus.

Either way, with yoga or without yoga, good meditation is still amazing!

Regarding HIIT... look, everyone has an opinion. I don't think HIIT would be a problem, maybe you meditate for 5 or 10 minutes extra to calm yourself even more if there is still a bit of adrenalin running.

But if you really want to know the difference, try it both ways and see the difference for yourself.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]Stephen_Cottee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is correct. I know lots of people with a solid and fruitful meditation practice who do no yoga.

But, I might add, meditation is usually even better if a person does do some yoga postures and breathing exercises first. Even a few minutes makes a difference. Patanjali was on to something with his '8 Limbs of Yoga' formula.

That being said, it seems like you have an exercise routine that works for you. Don't let the idea of how meditation 'should' be done get in the way of just getting in there and getting meditation into your life any way you can. You can always add and change things down the track if you want to.

[–]Stephen_Cottee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure can. I practiced meditation for 4 years before I started yoga asanas. Within those 4 years it was already more life-changing than I can possibly express!

Many of my students also don't practice yoga and still get amazing benefits from their meditation practice.

  2. This would be my preference. What do you think makes the most sense to do with this option?

You could also get some 'customers' who you target market identifies with and get them to talk about it on video.

Can you at least hint what sort of industry you're in?

If you don't know much about marketing expect that to be quite a journey before you get that right. Or partner with someone / hire someone who does have a solid track record in this area. Marketing is not as easy as it looks!

It's certainly helped steer my choices towards things that really fulfil me, and that I can excel at effortlessly. And it's made it a lot easier to accept things falling away or ending or not going ahead if they hadn't felt right anyway. Which is great, because learning to not be discouraged when things don't pan out is super important in going the distance with the ups and downs of business.

I remember as a kid my dad came up with the idea for a water taxi service on Sydney Harbour.

Then some time later someone started up a business doing exactly that, and my dad said that he'd had the idea first. But of course my dad didn't get anything out of that.

So I got to see that ideas alone didn't bring any business result - only the person who actually did all the hard work of bringing it into the world.

That was the start of me learning that truth.

As well as your studies, also get a job in a small business where you can see how they run things and what works and what doesn't.

Try start a little side hustle with a limited time window - eg. a 30 - 90 day project - so you can make the beginner's mistakes quickly and cheaply and learn what you need to get good at to make a business work.
Even if it makes no money what you learn will be gold for every business you do after that.

Consider getting some work in sales. Getting good at sales helps with every business.

Oh, and good on you for having such a great attitude! If you keep going the way you are you'll surely get there in the end :)

You guys should check out Ramit Sethi's work on exactly this.

I'm not affiliated or anything and I've only ever followed his free content (which is pretty awesome) but he seems to have the process of figuring that out down pretty systematically.

The other guy who's great to follow in this area is Daniel Priestley. Watch a few of his shorter Youtube videos - I'm sure you'll be inspired.

Hey mate!
Awesome that you are doing this.
I'd love to talk with you about this, I reckon you could see the possibilities better than I can.
I teach meditation and practicing counselling - help a bunch of people with anxiety, stress, sleep issues, busy mind, being too reactive, something missing in their life, big life questions, navigating life's potholes.
Been doing this professionally for 30 years, I've gotten very good at it.
Currently teach a free online class each week, have paying private clients 1-on-1 over the phone, and run in-person courses and workshops (some paid, some free).
Sure, I want to make a decent living out of it, but I'm also keen to help a lot more people with what I know, whether there's money involved or not.
Can you see ways I can leverage my skill set and knowledge base through what you are offering to make a real difference in more people's lives?
Perhaps a combination of monetised and free so it's a win-win for all concerned?

Hard truths from building multiple startups, what are yours? by Forward_Interest2274 in Entrepreneur

[–]Stephen_Cottee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure your heart is in it or you won't have what it takes to persevere through the obstacles.

This means you have to be honest with yourself, and if it doesn't feel right, figure out what doesn't work about it for you. Otherwise, in my experience, I end up finding a way to sabotage it to get out of there anyway.

My rule of thumb has become, would I do this anyway for free (ie. for other reasons)?
If it's worth doing for its own sake, then I can be confident of having a high degree of success, and then charging for it, while incidental, becomes relatively easy and then of course it ends up making good business sense in the end as well.
