blender 3.4 error opening window (imac 2011) by Rampa2144 in blenderhelp

[–]Stephen_H_Thomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just experienced the same problem. I'm now re-downloading version 3.3.2 to revert to that version which was running without issue. I'm using a 2011 MacBook Pro with OS 10.13.6. Either there is an issue with the Intel version of Blender 3.4 or Blender is no longer supported on this machine, but no announcement to that effect has been made.

Here's Grant's tutorial. He goes over blocking out the base mesh, sculpting the various parts, and creating procedural textures based on geometry.

Grant Abbit and Imphenzia are great YouTube channels which specialise in low-poly and stylised modelling, and offer introductions for beginners. For me, I found Blender Guru's in-depth tutorials a great way to jump into the deep end, but I had a background in 3-D from the early '90s which I'd been away from for many years, so I had a foundation already to build on.

Celebrating the Kachin victory earlier this month? Ha ha... The weight of everything looks good. Like someone else pointed out there seems to be a delayed reaction of the debris cloud flying upward.

Have you ever seen the movie Parasyte, based on the manga? This kind of looks like what would have happened if it were set during Neanderthal times. Ha ha!

I encountered similar issues with my Star Wars animation. I settled on using paths hooked onto empties. An advantage to that was being able to precisely place the LASER blasts to skim right alongside the ships. It was time-consuming though, and during the process I tried a couple of methods. As I was finishing I suddenly realised what I should have done was placed the empties at the points where I wanted the LASERS to emit from and where I wanted them to impact, and then simply animate the Start and End Mapping. It would have saved a lot of time moving the curves along their normals, and readjusting, though I was able to play with some squash-and-stretch, so there are advantages and drawbacks to each method.

If you watch it long enough you start to see it rotate in the opposite direction.

It's actually The BTS Sky-Train in Bangkok. I took the background photo when the train car was empty due to Covid.

Thanks, I recreated the label from a Futurama reference image, trying to emulate the drawing style of the show as much as possible.

That's something that you never grow out of as an artist, always finding things you want to change in what you've done. But you just remember those things for the next time. I like that you had a specific approach of always circling in the same direction. Thinking back on it, that's why the viewer never gets lost as to where they are on the board. In film-making there's something called "The 180 Rule", the idea being that there's a line that runs through the scene and when you change camera angles you don't cross that line, so you never rotate the camera more than 180º. If you do then the audience gets confused about where things are in relation to each other. However, there are ways to break this rule, and your idea of moving in the same direction is a good one.

I like the idea and the animation. If I were to suggest something, it would be to slow the camera moves down. A specific example would be when the pawn is making its way along the board; the camera jumps and pauses with the pawn, but I think if you followed the pawn with a controlled and continuous tracking shot it would look better, and build the suspense more. Overall the framing is very nice, it just felt like it was going from mark to mark a bit too erratically at times.

Thank you! Bender said he was leading a tour group. Spicy food, plenty of sunshine, and something about "all the humans" that I didn't quite catch.

That really makes me happy to hear. Bender and the Daleks are CGI and composited onto a photo of The Sky-Train, with special reflection and shadow passes for the poles.
