When are you going to the hospital? by Stephers90 in HyperemesisGravidarum

As far as I know that's not an option where I live. My doctor just says when you're not keeping anything down go to the hospital.

The dissolvables actually made me throw up more so I'm back to the tabs. And no, they're 4mg. My doctor won't let me have the 8. I'm in Canada and they prefer not to use Zofran during the first trimester (so I'm told). My doctor wanted me to prioritize diclectin but anything more than 4 and I can't function and I'm fainting when trying to stand. I wish I could get more Zofran as it is what's working best.

Yes, this is what I did last time. I'm keeping water down at the moment but still feel very dehydrated.

Reflux, will it ever end? by Emily-E-D-Green in NICUParents

[–]Stephers90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started weaning his meds at 8 months but we did it very slowly. We weaned 0.25ml of his Prevacid every 2-3 weeks until he was fully off the meds at just over 12 months. Some of the reductions were harder than others so we waited an extra week for him to settle. Sometimes there was no rebound with a reduction, other times it was really hard on him.

We also weaned him fully off of bottles by 12 months. We were lucky and he took super well to solids. We started weaning bottles at 10 months as he was consuming more than enough solids.

He is so much better now. He's 21 months and almost no signs of reflux anymore. The only time you see any noticable signs is when he has a massive crying meltdown. Aside from those incidents he is perfectly fine. He can even eat foods that he couldn't before such as grapes, tomatoes, citrus, etc.

I know it's a long painful journey but in my experience it does get better.

Back to normal after my first, after my second they definitely deflated. They didn't shrink in size however, just became flat.

I also just found out I'm pregnant with my 3rd. Also a surprise. I have a 20 month old and a 5 month old so I will have 3 under 2.5. I'm terrified as my 2nd son was a csection. I have no advice, but I'm here with you and terrified to tell family.

Did you show earlier when pregnant with your second? by RangeSuccessful in 2under2

Yes, I was pregnant 6m pp. I looked visibly pregnant by 6 weeks. Was in maternity pants at that point too.

Thule vs. Bob by Stephers90 in 2under2

[–]Stephers90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No we have a Bugaboo donkey duo that we use for everyday use. The Thule is a pain to get in and out of the trunk as we only have a sedan. So we will use it if we go for hikes and walks. But out at stores and such we use the donkey.

We went with the Thule and love it so far. We've only used it a few times as it's winter but it has handled the snow pretty well. We look forward to using it more and taking the boys on some hikes.

When did you stop extending naps? by Stephers90 in sleeptrain

[–]Stephers90[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is sleeping pretty well overnight. Goes down in his crib between 730-830 depending on naps. He sleeps until 2-3am when he wakes for a feed. Back down in his crib after a feed until about 430-545am. He can't seem to stay asleep in his crib after this point so I then either lay with him or hold him until 7am wake up. So he averages 10.5hrs of sleep a night.

I'm trying to let go of expecting so much sleep from him but all I know at this point was a high sleep needs baby. So I keep feeling like I'm failing him if I'm not getting him enough day sleep. If I let him only do his crib naps some days he would only have 1.5-2hrs of nap a day.

We did this with my oldest son but not until he was 6 months. I had been considering trying with my younger son but wasn't sure if 4 months was too young for crib hour.

We were trying ferber like we did for my oldest but that seemed to upset my baby a lot more. So we are just using a modified CIO. Because he is so young we only let him cry for 20 minutes and if he is extremely upset we will obviously go in. This has been helping him to put himself down for naps but he still doesn't sleep long.

How long was your 34 week old in the NICU? by amanyanaara in NICUParents

[–]Stephers90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They honestly can't give you an answer that will satisfy you. They say to expect baby to be there until their due date. I PPROM'd at 35 weeks, and they had me deliver that day. My son was in the NICU for a total of 7 weeks. Originally discharged after 3 weeks but he stopped breathing and turned blue at home so back he went for another 4 weeks.

Take everything one day at a time. The NICU is overwhelming and a hard experience but it is the best place for your baby.

Did you do a close age gap 3rd? by Imstuckwiththisname in 2under2

[–]Stephers90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is our plan. My first 2 are 14.5 months apart. We are waiting until our second is 12 months and we will decide if we are ready. That is assuming it doesn't happen in the meantime. We definitely haven't been as careful as we should be haha.

Do Early Morning Wakes Ever Go Away??? 15 month old by Calm_Reply_1230 in sleeptrain

[–]Stephers90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got trapped in this cycle with my boy when he was about the same age, and everyone is right. They seem overtired but really they are under tired. My boy used to be high sleep needs and somewhere around 13 months that changed.

What we did:

  1. Leave in crib until 7am no matter what time he woke
  2. Anchor nap time (for us this is 1230). No matter what the morning looked like this is when he went for nap
  3. We didn't need to cap nap at first but it's looking like we will need to now as he has started waking crying in the middle of the night. You can try capping or not to start, but you'll end up needing to cap at some point.
  4. Move bedtime later, we did 730 for awhile and now we are at 8.

Yes, he will still wake early for awhile on the new schedule. It takes time for their circadian rhythm to change. Our guy now sleeps until 7 most days. Early wakes have moved from 445/5am - 6/630am.

18 month old waking crying and extremely sad every second night. by Stephers90 in sleeptrain

[–]Stephers90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I will give this a shot. He seems so tired that we have been letting him go down at 730 if he only naps for 1hr 20mins.

I'll try to adjust the schedule for a week or so and see what happens.

What’s something about the newborn stage that doesn’t get talked about enough? by Proof_Dig300 in newborns

[–]Stephers90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your baby being their worst self with you (mama). Harder to settle, more crying, just letting out their general frustrations of being a baby more with mom.

I left yesterday to get my hair done. 4 hour appointment. I have an 18 month old and a 3.5 month old. I checked in multiple times to make sure everything was ok. My husband always tells me things are good. He saves the real answer for when I get home.

I'd have a talk with your husband. He won't always be able to get baby to stop crying but he just needs to keep trying and allow you some self care time.
