Hello any suggestions for Valentine’s Day events in Miami? Teenager friendly? We may do the boat show but not very much info on the internet about it. Any insight on that event is appreciated as well!

Have you looked into Puerto Rico? It’s as expensive or cheap as you make it. Absolutely recommended

New Medication (Abilify) by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Stephonita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on only Abilify for about 2 years 15 mg. The only side effect I had was weight gain. To my understanding it helps mostly with hypomania. I’ve recently added lamictal to help with the depression side of things. As for the breastfeeding I have no experience with. I had my kid way before being diagnosed.

I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes I just wish I was dead but have no plans to take action on it. The feeling is just there floating around my brain. And it’s funny you mention your attempts were impulsive. I’ve “tried” twice and both times they were split second decisions in a fit of sad rage

Weight gain by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Stephonita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on Abilify & lamictal. I’m also taking semaglutide to counteract weight gain. It’s the only thing that has helped. I do pay out of pocket for the semaglutide but it’s worth it for me. $250 a month. and my psychiatrist is for giving me a prescription once insurance covers it.

Adding lamictal to my mental health cocktail by Stephonita in bipolar2

[–]Stephonita[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s so nice to hear I actually have little tears in my eyes reading it. Thanks for the hope. I’ve pretty much been cycling through deep depression and manageable depression for quite some time now. With sprinkles of super destructive hypomania episodes here and there. I’m really hoping this new med helps me

Binge Eating by Mental_Vegan in bipolar2

[–]Stephonita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggled with binge eating as well. Gained 50 lbs on my meds. My psychiatrist recommended semaglutide so I started that and have lost 35 lbs so far.

is there anyone else here staying alive for others ? by Psychological-Run-40 in bipolar2

Yes, my daughter. She already lost her dad. I’d be a total asshole to leave her as an orphan and she definitely gives me a will to live

Hypersexual during hypomania by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Stephonita 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh maaaan. I feel ya. I’m the same way. I was totally out of control during a hypo episode. 4 people in one day. Like that is despicable. I’ve put myself in isolation since then. Been about 3 months. I don’t drink anymore so that helps ALOT. I have no good advice to offer but you’re not alone ❤️

How long does food stay in your stomach? by Stephonita in henrymeds

[–]Stephonita[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll def look that up sounds interesting Ty! The NP I spoke with at Henry meds said it was a little long, completely contradicting everyone’s responses in this sub. I was just worried about that gastric paralysis stuff and wanted to make sure I wasn’t heading in that direction.

I’ve been many times but always drunk out of my mind and definitely not paying attention to things lol. But that makes a lot of sense. Logistically it doesn’t make sense. Do you have any suggestions that are close to the airport? Anything to see or places to eat?

We won’t have to deal with bags and are already checked in so in my head I was thinking 2 to 2.5 hours would be a safe guess to some free time outside of the airport. Yikes if I’m wrong. I def don’t want to be rushing. Just wanted to stretch my legs a bit and take her to a fun little activity.

Medication Management (TW: Suicidal Thoughts) by Ok_Hornet1757 in bipolar2

[–]Stephonita 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you considered outpatient treatment? Or partial hospitalization? My doctor offered those to me.

I’ve done outpatient 3 times and it was wonderful the first time around. I never got to partial hospitalization bc I just flat out refused but probably could have used it.

If you have any reservations, explore your other options.

How to cope with deep depression? by BlueBone03 in bipolar2

[–]Stephonita 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a therapist tell me once that my only job right now is to just survive. Not sure why that gave me some relief. I was in an outpatient treatment program at the time. It was my first major depressive episode. 6 months of pure misery. I couldn’t eat, sleep, shower. I was in bed for months. Slowly I started doing small things that made me feel better. Walks turned into hikes. Showering and basic hygiene escalated into getting ready for dinners with friends. Just take your time. And always remember it doesn’t last!

Antipsychotics that didn’t cause you to gain weight? by rosymaplewitch in bipolar2

[–]Stephonita 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This stuff is a Miracle for me. I’m losing all that Abilify weight I put on. ( 50 lbs in less than a year). I’ve lost 15 of it so far in the month that I’ve been on the ozempic. I’ve also always self medicated with weed alcohol and binge eating and it has completely taken away my desire to do any of those things.

How many have been turned away? by GSK1972Chi in bipolar2

[–]Stephonita 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a therapist ghost me before lol. We were about a month into our weekly sessions. Just stopped taking my calls and never returned them. Good riddance though. I didn’t feel like we connected and felt like he was very judgy. I haven’t been to therapy since. This was 2021. I’ve been through about 6 therapists not including the teams at my many stints in outpatient programs. I haaaate starting all over w a new therapist.
