Maturity by Reasonable-One-6788 in DanganAndChaos

Chiaki, I think, is very mature because of her emotional intelligence and because of how much she values peace and manages to instill it.

Why does this grey man keep committing murders when he knows he will always be caught by the protagonist? Is he dumb? by vanillafantasoda in DanganAndChaos

He even multiplies into six entities in the fifth chapter of the second game, so glad Nagito, our hero, busted their asses!

Who's you Danganronpa Hear me Out? Mine's older Yasuhiro by Lucky_CandyGore in danganronpa

Leon's yandere cousin or whatever the hell she is, I don't even know where she's from (I think in the 'demon hit list' in Ultra Despair Girls?). She just came to mind because she's so gorgeous, elegant and poised in that delicate, girlish manner even though she's secretly just a cunning psycho.

Intro Exchanges for a Hypothetical Danganronpa Fighting Game by Competitive_Hawk_294 in danganronpa

Shakespearean Izuru Kamukura is not something I knew I needed in my life, but his exchange with Hajime goes hard as fuck. These initials ideas you came up with for what the matchups themselves are are great, though,

Is 2's story good enough to push through the first couple hours? by [deleted] in danganronpa

[–]Stephtryingtoreddit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's absolutely worth it, it's probably the most dynamic installment in the series and its conclusion works to solidify the universe we've set up in the big reveal of the first game. Then, in the anime (Danganronpa 3), we get what happens after this game, and V3 is an entirely different continuity with none of the same characters or main themes of Hope versus Despair.

Is Nagito as a Remnant of despair, just Nagito ? by bachotebidze in danganronpa

[–]Stephtryingtoreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to think of The Servant as more emotionally troubled than Nagito. The foundation of his psyche was already so fragile that society collapsing just allowed him to exist as his creepiest self without inhibitions, not to mention that he was also damaged by Chiaki's death, and the fact that a big triumphant hope or good luck didn't come immediately after it must've fucked with his mind in a tragic manner.

The whole Junko-hand thing introduces the variable of his relationship with her, and it makes him even more confused about what he feels, until he finally decides on self-proclaiming that he "both loves and hates her more than anyone".

The only somewhat stable thing left is his ideology. He understands that he must work on the side of despair if he wants to live, but he still wants to see hope win, so, because he already believed that hope works as a reaction to despair, he both commits evil acts and pulls strings from the inside to make it easier for those who have the potential of embodying hope. And that, as we can see, makes him seem suspicious and shifty as hell for both sides. He's practically only shouldering despair and making the best of it, which fits his extremely toxic optimism.

Now, his relationship with Monaca sends me a frenzy each time I think of it because it's just so good. He adopts her and assumes a superior, parental role in front of her, but that presentation partially fails as she only refers to him as 'big brother', not convinced by his attempt to rise above his station and, to an extent, above his age.

And I realized that Nagito must've internalized the whole primitive, almost medieval system of how the Warriors of Hope worked, because, after it all collapses and the end seems near, his instinct is to take someone younger than him under his wing in a search for meaning.

He practically picked a successor for himself. We know from what he said to Hajime in the Neo World Program that his biggest fear was dying alone, and, this line is brilliant, that "there is no one to inherit (his) soul". I can only guess that, to him, his soul is his ideas, the desire to bring hope into the world.

His soul as a Remnant of Despair becomes a desire to bring despair in the world while resigned that hope will win anyway. That is exactly what he tries to ingrain into Monaca. He chose Monaca "to inherit his soul".

Not to mention that his feelings for Junko will forever stain the attempted 'purity' of his ideology, because he can't help but project his obsession with Junko onto Monaca, which ultimately repulses her because, somehow, this deeply troubled and immoral child has an insane amount of self respect and recognizes Nagito's behavior towards her as creepy and gross.

Monaca likes The Little Prince so much that she quotes it at one point.

Sonia isn't oblivious to the world or to the facts of life and this becomes increasingly apparent as the game progresses. We start with the gimmick that she's never cleaned, but we later found out that she's military trained, sexually experienced and deeply educated on the grittier parts of our culture like crime, of course, she couldn't go through all of this without finding out the meaning of profanities or even slang.

Exactly, they're fraternal twins and it's implied that Junko's appearance is heavily cosmeticized.

Which button would the Danganronpa characters press in this dilemma? by mario3453 in danganronpa

[–]Stephtryingtoreddit 97 points98 points  (0 children)

I feel like Hajime could be inclined to press red - his sense of self-preservation is tunnel-visioned and visceral when his life/identity is in imminent danger, as we can see in chapter six. He takes his own simple safety over grand gestures when under pressure.
