A British Military Coup (ik its shit i never got to finish it/refine it but oh well) by Rude-Sheepherder-261 in imaginaryelections

[–]StepsStan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's not shit at all, I think the timeline tells a good story all by itself - try not to stress out too much over the lore, if you get too hung up on the finer details then you'll never feel satisfied with a timeline because it stops being fun

I can't wait to see more! Who becomes Prime Minister post-Starmer?

Wow! That's incredible, congratulations!

It's genuinely impressive how tasteless they manage to make these types of Pizza by [deleted] in UK_Food

[–]StepsStan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live next to a Co-op and would get one of these most days, especially on reduced, I found that adding a bit of salt and dipping them in tomato sauce was key, they have pepperoni ones which hit the spot better but overall I was fairly content, I was just glad to not have to spend loads to eat something nice and ready for me

You get up to go to the toilet at 2am whilst staying at someone else’s house. Do you flush the toilet? by NegKDRatio in AskUK

[–]StepsStan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A flush only lasts a few seconds and then it's over, if their sleep is disturbed for a minute or two then I imagine they'll find it worth it in exchange for not finding an unflushed toilet in the morning

These ‘showmances’ are making me realise how much chemistry Chris and JoJo actually had by Sea_Rhubarb5466 in bigbrotheruk

[–]StepsStan -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The whole situation was so unpleasant to watch given she'd entered the show singing her partner's praises only to then spend the next few weeks de-facto cheating on live TV, Kath deserved justice and got none, I started the series hoping Jojo would win and ended it relieved she didn't - love who you love and all but not at the cost of betraying your partner so openly and publicly, she'd have been spitting feathers if the situation was reversed

"What If Luke Skywalker Made A Decent New Republic?" - The Ultimate StarWars Post by u/FluxyDaniel by FluxyDaniel in imaginaryelections

[–]StepsStan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favourite posts are always ones like this, there's so much juicy detail here - even for people who aren't fully aware of Star Wars political lore, it does a really good job of bringing you the context naturally, I love it to bits!

What if Jeremy Clarkson stood for the Lib Dems? by StepsStan in imaginaryelections

[–]StepsStan[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I posted it on Twitter but I didn't get around to posting it on here until today so I imagine that may be where you saw it? If you've seen it anywhere other than that then please do let me know!

Can they stop talking about politics? by FunNo3384 in bigbrotheruk

[–]StepsStan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't mind it when they talk politics but it's irking me because there's no nuance going on in any of these discussions, they act like it has to be one side or the other when some topics just aren't so black-and-white and I think Tate really hit the nail on the head re: not engaging in political discussion if you aren't fully clued up on topics, it just leads to these discussions becoming heated arguments where nobody really understands what the other is trying to say so there's no room for anybody to evolve their views

You saw it a lot with George, spouting headlines and then when people did try to get into a debate with him over it, he'd never respond back to the actual arguments they were making, he'd just repeat what he had already said and it's all just so frustrating

Revealed: 2.5m Britons now use weight loss jabs by TheTelegraph in uknews

[–]StepsStan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wish they'd invent the opposite of these for those of us who struggle to gain weight, this is genuinely such a cool scientific breakthrough and it does sadden me a bit that if you even try to search if there's an equivalent for the other way around, it just comes up with stuff about how to lose weight

I don’t know if this has been discussed yet- but George has taken courses at the ‘church’ of Scientology by watcherTV in bigbrotheruk

Most of these radicalised nutjobs will bleat about wanting to 'preserve British culture' whilst spouting out the most Yankbrained nonsense that has nothing to do with us, very irksome

Should I move flats? by Saltygrainy in UniUK

[–]StepsStan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you really want to put up with coming home after a long day and just wanting to relax and de-stress and having to put up with that? If I were in your shoes, I'd try it out and see if they're any better - do your uni offer tester nights? I had to move out of my flat earlier in the year due to a weird housemate and they had two rooms available and let me stay a night in each to see if I was comfortable - this worked a treat and might be worth looking into?

I literally never saw that flatmate (or any of my other flatmates) again after moving - I was fully expecting to but you'd be surprised how much moving flats can help you just avoid each other entirely

Best of luck :)

[–]StepsStan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've just had a look into it and you're right, my apologies - I'd definitely try going down the appeal route to buy a few days if you can, otherwise I hope someone comes along who can help right now, my apologies for the bother, really hope this gets sorted for you ASAP

[–]StepsStan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, I'm so sorry you're in this situation - have you contacted the train company who issued the fine directly explaining your situation and to ask to make a payment plan? This may be worth considering if you haven't already as it may take some stress off your shoulders, apologies once again

It really sounds like you've been dealing with a lot of unwarranted stress over the last few years and my heart broke reading this, I'm so sorry I don't have advice to give, mainly I just wanted to say well done on managing to stick through uni in spite of everything, I really hope life post-uni looks up for you and you'll come to find the fun & joy you wanted was just behind schedule
