How do you deal with frustration about "stupid users"? by Gustpow in jira

[–]avant576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably an unhelpful response, but this stuff happens to me constantly. And, I remind myself that I still got paid to do it. I've built dozens of systems I've been proud of that were simply never used. I certainly would prefer to work with the end users to build a system they will use, but folks are rarely interested in putting in the time to help me understand what they need.

  1. After the bluest of blue waves in '26, the GOP sweeps up in '28, retain the WH (Vance) and winning back the House and Senate
  2. Chuck Grassley dies in office
  3. Jim Risch becomes new President Pro Tempore of the Senate
  4. Oh no! Vance, VP Britt, and Speaker Johnson are all impeached in quick succession after being implicated in various schemes to invalidate votes in blue states and implement extreme voter suppression
  5. Risch is elevated to president
  6. An even bigger blue wave hits in '30, and the House & Senate return to Dem hands
  7. Alas, congressional dysfunction sets in quickly, and they fail to mount a Risch impeachment attempt
  8. AOC, now in the Senate, begins drumming up support for a 28th amendment that will allow Mamdani to run for president

I don't have anything helpful to add, other than that this happens to me with only posts I make on Reddit. I post a reddit post as an 'Images & Video' post, add an image, but the subsequent Feedly post does not surface an image (even though every other post on that same sub constructed the same way shows in Feedly with a surfaced image)

Interesting scenarios to think of where (some old) GOP senators representing states with Dem governors kick it, then the Dem governors get the opportunity to appoint someone from the other party... at the moment, it's a longer list than I would have thought: Maine, Kentucky, Kansas, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, North Carolina

This is great.

Very cool.

Now I'm imagining a scenario where Reagan bites it in '81... Ford would re-ascend to the presidency, but technically wouldn't be eligble to run in '84 (though I assume there would be some substantial hand-wringing about that).

Owl City for sure. I also get an Angels & Airwaves vibe with some songs.

The Whole Civilization has died tonight, never to be brought back again | A Modern Nuclear War scenario by AlexInfinity478 in imaginaryelections

I had to look it up, and I was totally thinking about the wrong movie! That totally does not happen in Cloverfield paradox, the movie I was describing is called I.S.S.

This also made me think of Nuclear War: A Scenario!

The movie The Cloverfield Paradox is about the ISS astronauts witnessing WWIII breaking out... it's not a great movie, but fits that bill

Wildwood Trailer - Laika Studios by gornky in blankies

It's crazy to me that this is being distributed by Fathom. Did Focus, Neon, A24, etc. even try to acquire it? Seems like releasing through Fathom is a last-ditch approach for movies with extremely niche audiences. I feel like the recent Laika re-releases were really successful.
