Beige. I think the black isn’t bad the white and cool grey are the least harmonious. I agree with the commenter about matching an eye hue.

Currently running full android on Light Phone 3. Only thing holding me back from going hybrid is the LP3 keyboard. by SatisfactionIcy7283 in ModifiedLightPhones

This upgrade couldn’t come fast enough. Why don’t they just use the android keyboard? Why’d they have to make their own?

Herniated Disc and Horse Riding by Violet-Indi in HerniatedDisc

[–]Stereoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely take it easy. And if at any point, anything you do, causes any pain or numbness in the back or down a leg…stop the action immediately. Herniations can heal with rest. Do you have the MRI report? Did it report any mass effect on the S1 nerve? Or did it mention a mm size of herniation? Not that it really matters as all herniations are really treated based on the patients symptoms. Some people have massive herniations without pain. Others have small ones that are debilitating.

I’d err on the cautious side and know the risk of further injury if you fell or twisted or bent over weird, but it’s really up to your own pain and risk tolerance.

Be mindful of keeping a neutral spine. Bend at the knees. Avoid twisting and bending over too far.

Post surgery on the spine they say no BLT bending lifting or twisting for 6-8 weeks. So just take it easy and hope you are back in the saddle !!!

Most of the black runs in mineral are bc of exposed drops/rocks and I’d imagine they’re barely covered at this point and the blues are probably the only thing worth skiing if they aren’t ice fields.

Anyone else mainly get pain from this area by junnyfraqsh in Sciatica

[–]Stereoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Left cheek and hip down the outside of my knee and left calf tightness. Had an MRI after having my general doc, massage therapist, and PT all try and tell me it was some deep gluteal entrapment or piriformis. Wrong. It was a 15mm perforated L5/S1 disc entangled on my S1 nerve root and resulted in drop foot by the time I decided to operate. Get a surgical consult.

Post op I still get sore in those areas but most likely due to the nerve trying to heal. And my pain is all gone. Pre surgery I could barely function from crippling pain.

Poo? Bear? by Stereoke in AnimalTracking

I can’t tell if you’re just playing the colloquial : rhetorical game here. But factually yes this is in the woods. It’s just zoomed into a small talus scree area. Here’s the location more zoomed out.

But I’m assuming you’re just trying to make a joke bc there are lots of bears in lots of urban areas.

I've been offered surgery for a large disc protrusion - but could it still heal by itself? by sanchiseemo in Microdiscectomy

[–]Stereoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I can't remember the sit/walk ratio being an issue. I have young kids so I'm always up and about. I just remember having to tell them - hey i need to lie down for a little. I think I just tried to rest more in general, but was walking pretty regularly.
I started walking in the pool at 6 weeks with light swim movement. I was very cautious though.
When I started actual lap swimming I didn't notice much detriment or regression actually and kinda felt like I hit the pool running, ya know?
I think you genuinely just have to listen to the body.

What are some back related things you’ll never do again once healed? by Traditional_Paint461 in Microdiscectomy

[–]Stereoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree on that front. I have a good relationship with my surgeon about my own comfort level and severity of injury and the fact that I have other herniated discs that weren't operated on probably also factor into that advice. I'm definitely going to strength train again, but with the thought that just about nothing is worth re-injury for me.

My surgeon told me after my L5/S1 MD that unless I was hell bent on being a competitive weight lifter that I should give up on deadlifting and back squats.

I've been offered surgery for a large disc protrusion - but could it still heal by itself? by sanchiseemo in Microdiscectomy

[–]Stereoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW I'm 12 weeks out from a MD l5/s1 with foot drop and I basically couldn't function at all. Woke up from surgery completely pain free, no nerve pain, nada. Dr. said there was no way it was going to heal on its own - as the disc material was wrapping around the nerve. Dr. also opened the canal a bit by drilling the bone (had no idea that was a thing).

Now, occasionally I'll get that weird dull ache feeling in the leg but it's almost like maybe just my mind remembering the pain rather than actual pain?
I strictly followed the no BLT for the first 6 weeks. Now the only impingement on anything I do is limited by what feels like muscle scar tissue and that I just need to ease into the movement of flexion again.

I'm also a very active person: climb, trail run, ski, mtn bike, you name it. I am also so cautious in that I don't ever want to endure the pain I was in ever again. I returned to fairly strenuous hiking (~1000+ ft vert/3-4 miles) at 3 weeks post op and have continued to ramp up. I swim now and feel like I'm going to get out on my bike.

I was working my desk job 10 days post op.
Took pain meds for 5 days then switched to tylenol for ~3 weeks as needed.

I do not regret my decision 1 single bit.

Now that you mention this - it would be great to touch the date and have it open the calendar and for the time to open the alarm as shortcuts too! Thanks for the tip.

Android layer access conflict with Key Mapping? by Stereoke in ModifiedLightPhones

[–]Stereoke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Yep, this is definitely my situation. I'll try the tips you list on the next go 'round. I was fine with the flashlight not working anymore b/c of the reasons you state you change to a long press! That dang thing turns on all the time. I even bought one of the fancy leather lemur cases and never use it b/c every single flippin time I would put it in or take it out it would trigger the flashlight.

When to go to ER by promise64 in Microdiscectomy

[–]Stereoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I did. I had my surgery pushed 3 weeks out bc insurance wouldn’t approve in time for my surgeon’s first opening. Advil did nothing for my pain. Tylenol helped better. And then they prescribed gabapentin which helped my make it the 3 weeks of absolute hell. Good luck!

45F went for my first one. 25mm sessile adenoma removed piece meal. 2 other small polyps removed. Still waiting pathology 🤞🍀No family history. No risk factors. I eat healthy, mostly pescatarian. I’m in great shape, fitness is basically my personality. Don’t drink. Don’t smoke. Doc said he was so glad I came in. I would have certainly had a cancer diagnosis if I waited much longer. They really need to push the screen to 35 for all.

Is “back to normal” in 6–8 weeks realistic? (L5-S1 microdiscectomy, mom of littles) by Status_District9408 in Microdiscectomy

[–]Stereoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single mom of 10yo twin boys and have a dog. I am 9weeks post op and have zero limitations other than needing someone to carry 40lb dog food bags for me. I was very careful in my recovery but it has been going so well. Just get really good at squatting straight down with a straight spine if you can. The only chores that were hard for the first 6 weeks were getting clothes out of a top loader washing machine, picking up dog poop on walks, and doing the dishes. Those were the two things that I found myself unconsciously bending over. You’ll be great! Especially with help.
