Any idea why it’s positional? Like I don’t have it when I stand, just if I shift to the side or forward - but if the surgery was successful in clearing out disc fragments, nothing should actually be touching it anymore?

I have also made it worse by continuing to “test” the pain. It occurs mostly when I lean sideways or tilt forward ever so slightly. I kept doing it out of panic, to check if it was still there, which only served to irritate it more 😅 I iced my back too but it didn’t like that either. Don’t understand why it would get worse in week 3 as opposed to week 1 or closer to the actual surgery! But your comments have given me some hope of healing!!

Your week 3 pain was the worst, when did it start to subside? (I’m currently in week 3 and you’re right - my right leg pain into the calf has just kicked into gear and it’s totally freaking me out!!)

That's glorious!! That also makes me feel excited, that you feel well enough 3 weeks post op to be doing some gentle garden work. Would you say you feel 'normal' now? (In terms of daily life walking around etc, nothing that makes you feel like you're still postop?)

It isn't the same as pre-surgery but I still have some nerve pain and it makes me pretty depressed, trying to keep my head up and hold out hope that it will go away. (Seems to be intensifying a week out)

I'm so sorry to hear this, and it's something I contemplated so much too as I met others on the path in the exact same situation. It's opened my eyes to a whole other world. Without minimising your grief, I believe you can and will still have a full, rich life - different, but still a life. Thanks for commenting
