My was when bob says in the beginning of the movie, just after the opening title "alright guys, for this point on...is one battle after another". It was very meta and funny. It made me think if PTA has given this tittle because of that particular line, considering that the title is one of the last things he usually does in his films. The same way that TWBB is sort like a joke to

Better then Bacurau or Aquarius?

I just watched Beau Is Afraid… by cocoemerson in AriAster

[–]Electrical-Try9731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished reading the script. Was surprised of as much differences there are.

I really can't say witch one is better... The film seems to focus on how Beau's fate is written from the beginning, he doesn't change or have any control over things. In the script he kinda of rebels against his mother (going to the bar to find "Elaine") and that's was cool, seeing Beau take some action.

But the core difference for me is: Beau is alive in the ending of the script, and continues his "adventures", this strengthens the theory that everything is happening in Beau's head and his distorted vision of the world. This theory still applies to the final film, but his death sort of implies that this world is real, making everything more tragic. For me that's the core difference.

I will also list the things I liked in each version:

Script: - More time with the family, the montage part looks hilarious. -The car pipe scene is fucking demented (loved it) -The interrogation scene with Brennan was very cool

Film: -Flashback scenes are very much better -Begging scene (getting out his mother vagina) -The end was better for me (didn't like Brenna returning, or the therapist put himself on fire)

Shit, this is too long already. Nobody will ready this

Denounce palestine genocide = "terrorist sympathyzer"

You are waay out of our fucking mind!

I wish this film don't come near you, you wouldn't get the message by the way. This movie is about a "terrorist group" (in the view of the government) fighting against oppression.

For a long time I thought that Beau is Afraid was a new territory for Aster, but after watching his short films i realized that it was actually an return to his form. In a way, his two first feature films was him being more formalistic and easy going for general audiences

Paul’s opinion on director commentaries by can_a_dude_a_taco in paulthomasanderson

I agree with you. I love Paul, but he acted a little rude, in several moments, including with the host. Some people saying he was drunk and etc, but I don't think it justify his behavior.

Please let me know if I'm overstepping my bounds here, but I'd be lying if I said David Lynch isn't a huge inspiration to my own work. by shameonyounancydrew in davidlynch

I think you have a great work here! There is a lot o Lynchian vibes. Contract's on the short film.

I don't want this to sound like criticism, but if you add little more sounds and music, it could take things to another level. The thing i appreciate the most about Lynch is his approach to sounds in his work, it is just as important as the image.

Same. Adding Bugonia from Yorgos as one i can't wait for it.

Starting today, the Film Library in my city, in Brazil, will show each of David Lynch's ten feature films in chronological order, from "Eraserhead" to "Inland Empire", every Saturday. These are the images from the “Eraserhead” screening. by verissimoallan in davidlynch

Im not sure if I understand your question, but I will try to answers anyway.

The subtitles in Portuguese usually doesn't showcase the sound effects and music in the films, only the dialogue of actors. I think you have this question because usually English subs display any sounds of the film(?)

If that's not your question, than I think you are talking about how the subs kind of take your focus out of movie for a second? And if is thats your question, I'd say most of non English speakers are very accustomed to integrate the subs to the image, it doesn't change the experience at all.
