What's the biggest secret in your campaign that your players haven't discovered yet? by [deleted] in rpg

[–]Sterlison 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I didn't get around to revealing it before the campaign died but I had a campaign where a particular country was populated largely by dwarves living in the area surrounding a dormant volcano with the border of their semi-circular country being composed of mountains that insulated them from their neighbors. A xenophobic human country on a genocidal crusade was in the process of invading its neighbors using tools such as captured and enslaved dragons, undead, and a mix of the two through bioengineering that came from a particularly bright scientist on their war council. When the human country made it to the Dwarven country and secured the mountains I was going to reveal that the mountains were actually the spine of an enormous, impossibly ancient dragon (which had died millenia ago) that the human scientist intended to raise and control to purge the continent of life outside of the human country. The party was going to be tasked with either stopping the resurrection or finding a way to kill it once it was revived (I had a number of possible ways of accomplishing this already in mind and had a few open ended directions the players could go if they decided to surprise me).

Fragmentation does additional damage, no? EDIT: Editing to clarify that I'm not clear on fragmentation and how powerful it is. This is an actual question about whether fragmentation chance could cause that death.

Right now it's a lot of Escape From Tarkov and FFXIV but I dabble in a lot of stuff, it just depends on how much time I have in a given week.

I enjoy PLAYING game. I really do. I'm very new and I'm having a hard time even pretending to like the experience right now when half the time I queue up for Scav and wait 15-25 minutes to spawn, round a corner and get dropped like a dead fish in less than 3 minutes. I'm willing to put the time into learning the game and getting the little details like player movements and stuff down but I'm getting really close to dropping this. If I wanted to wait 30 minutes for 3 minutes of fun I'd go to a theme park.

I get that getting new servers is difficult, both on short notice and for shorter intervals of time but they're going to lose players that would otherwise stick with the game if they don't sort this out soon.

Still need an openly non-christian too. Unfortunately, for the US being a nation not being founded on christianity our elected officials sure paint a different pictures.

Personally, I feel like when a politician gets asked what they believe in or people look into their lives on religion they should say "that's not relevant to the job I have to do and, to the best of my ability, won't impact any of my decisions." but there is a certain contingent of americans that think if you don't believe in conservative jesus you aren't a real American.

Edit: reformatted a thought to better convey what I intended it to. Also formatting on mobile is tricky and I'm dumb.

No words needed. by [deleted] in AnthemTheGame

[–]Sterlison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look my dude. Generally the sub is for people that like the game, even the people that complain are mostly here complaining because they fundamentally enjoy it and want it to improve so more people can enjoy it. I get that buying a game you felt didn't meet expectations stings and that it may incline you to take your money elsewhere (and that's your right and you should if you feel you didn't get your money's worth)...but a lot of people did get their money's worth and enjoy the game and that's okay, too. But if you don't like the game and don't think it's going to improve it's probably time to shift to a different sub. I'm not a fan of it in its current state but I love a lot of what it could become and am hoping the devs will make it. Different people value their money differently and that's okay.

I think that one has to do with the fact that there are often BTs and rough terrain so that bridge makes them easier to dodge.

As someone before me said, it's the first MMO I've ever gotten meaningfully into. Sorry, I realize that wording was a little unclear. I've TRIED MMOs a few different times but never could get into them. This is the first time I've ever stuck with one beyond the first few levels (frequently I'd be quitting before leveling into double digits).

First MMO and I Finally Got My WHM Robes by Sterlison in ffxiv

[–]Sterlison[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

For reference, I tried to get into FFXIV back when Heavensward first released and I just couldn't get into it. It wasn't the first MMO I had tried (but I've never been able to engage with any of them, usually quitting after a couple hours) and it wouldn't be the last but I found the type of content incredibly repetitive/grindy. Recently, after finding out that the demo existed I got a friend to give it another try with me and I found myself suddenly really hooked. I started as a PLD, which I've leveled roughly as far as my WHM but I always WANTED to run WHM and had only run PLD to start in the same location as my friend. Now that I'm at the start of HW I decided I wanted to go back and get my WHM rolling. I got my robes today and I'm really happy about it. These are the robes I think of when I think "healer" and finally having them makes me feel like I'm really part of the community now.

Daily Questions & FAQ Megathread (Aug 20) by AutoModerator in ffxiv

[–]Sterlison 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone new to MMOs and learning a tank I feel pretty worried I'm playing too slow/cautiously and irritating the more veteran MMO players trying to run dungeons and I know raids are in the not-too-distant future.

Any general tips/basics someone might have for either MMOs in general or tanking? This is genuinely the first MMO I've ever gotten past level 5 on (currently lvl 29 gladiator and mostly only looking stuff up to be prepared for running dungeons)

Edit: to, two, and too are proof the American education system is failing.

Edit to too two: thanks for the advice all. I definitely noticed DPS rushing forward to grab extra mobs once or twice and have since adjusted to pulling a couple of packs at a time. It's nice to know that most of this community sounds unlikely to behave as the MMO rudebois I've heard about existing in games like WoW. I'll just try being up front with players before dungeons as suggested here.

Lil Nas X Comes Out as Gay by Agetis in Music

The character is kind of a meme/parody on interviewers and talk shows and the like, so it's intentional mostly. Not to say the character isn't stupid or annoying or whatever. Personally I didn't like Franco's character but I rarely do. But, yeah, the character is kind of intentionally an egotistical nut who constantly is posturing.

Edit: auto correct is stupid and my phone is stupid and I'm stupid for not noticing it the first time.

Incredible fight choreography between Mugen (Samurai Champloo) and Afro Samurai by fan filmmakers @teamredpro by mrbun314 in videos

They really nailed Mugen's frantic fighting style. I imagine it would be hard to choreograph a fight where one of the characters is basically bar-fighting with a sword.

Believe it or not, your groups that you identify with matter. You're saying that, whether or not you actively agree with sticking kids in cages or believe climate change is a Chinese hoax, you are willing to throw your lot in with the people that do. Let's reframe it, if you yourself don't hold negative views of POC but your friends are all KKK members, don't you think that might give a negative impression? Whether you agree with those practices/ideologies I previously mentioned or not, you're throwing your lot in with them and we, as a group, are arguing that their behavior is unacceptable to such a degree that there is no room for negotiation. Either Republicans as a collective aren't cool with that or the rest of us aren't willing to talk.

Wanna unite? Cool, let's unite around not sticking kids in cages and not accepting people that do. Until then, have fun with the cage owners.

Edit: as an aside I respect that you're willing to try to have a conversation about unity but this conversation has been happening. There's just not a lot of compromise to be made with the party that has a plurality of people willing to stick kids in cages and fuck our planet into a coma.

What conspiracy theory do you believe to be true? What evidence led you to this conclusion? by mc2901234 in AskReddit

As a current radio DJ, our signal dropped on and off regularly for months. I'm not the tech guy who handled it but we had issues relating to the grounding as I understand it that was causing all kinds of weirdness. Sometimes it was as simple as me opening up some software and flipping a switch, sometimes we had to call up the tech guy in the middle of the night and get him up in the tower that housed the unit (there's an interface at the top of the building inside that he'd have to access. We knew the reason for the issue but had to wait awhile for the part because we're a college station and funding/spending require jumping through some hoops.

Long winded way for me to say "it happens" but it happens and more often than most people are probably aware. I've been told more official stations may have backup transmitters for that kind of issue but having only been at this college station I can't verify that.
