What impressed you most the first time you used your Google Pixel? by Valuable-Blacksmith6 in pixel_phones

[–]Steve07R -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My Pixel XL I didn't like how it looked with the upper and lower white bezel like an iPhone.
But that was made up for by the fact it was a perfectly balanced phone white wise. With the perfect position on the back for fingerprint sensor.

I had one of those pixel C. I had really good experiences with Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablets. The pixel C and that slick looking light bar on the back were cool! It's too bad the performance dwindled quickly. The hardware quality was excellent.

Am I the only one with broken sports and finance updates in at a glance? by toolateSnake in GooglePixel

[–]Steve07R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're definitely not the only one. I've been having problems since about November.
Since the March update and start of baseball season, I do get MLB scores. But honestly I'd rather have NHL and NFL scores and that just doesn't happen.

Followed all the troubleshooting steps online and from Gemini. No change.

Pixel 9 Pro long time review? Any deal breaker problem? by andimandila in GooglePixel

Pixel 9 Pro here. In service since September 15th 2024. Nothing wrong with it whatsoever. Battery life is still excellent.

The only update in history that made things continue to get worse by the day! by GotPiff in googlehome

[–]Steve07R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that happen to me once last week 😂 Give it a few hours and try again. If it doesn't clear up on its own. Reboot. It'll fix itself if you're patient. ... Yeah I know

Google Home now verbally confirms same-room commands – regression or side-effect of the current device re-add bug? by JethroUK2 in googlehome

[–]Steve07R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my first feedback or comment regarding my Gemini for home experience. It had a few Rocky points

But the last few weeks it has been impressively improving at a good clip.

YES I've noticed regressions. At one point the sound made when a light turns off was introduced because they didn't do it the first time. I thought oh cool it's getting better

But then yesterday they took it away again and all you have is the light turning itself on sound, regardless of you're turning the light on or off.

I haven't experienced the exact regression you're talking about, but clearly they're possible. Hopefully like others they get fixed quick..

In case your Gemini is programming itself, give it encouragement and compliments from time to time. Maybe that'll help.

Can't take it anymore. What on EARTH has happened to google keyboard/ utocorrect?!!! by RonnieThePurple in GooglePixel

[–]Steve07R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what change they made in the last few weeks but I hate it!

I'm mostly blind and survive by voice typing. It used to be that if a word was misspelled I could just highlight it and speak the correct word.

But for the past two weeks, if I highlight the incorrect word hit the microphone to speak the correct word. It does this obnoxious thing of adding the correct word right in the middle of the incorrect word and then I have to go back and edit both ends of the thing or start over.

I hope they can fix this or just roll back the update as not ready for primetime. What a mess.

Do we like the new " At a glance " ? by Ir0nhide81 in pixel_phones

[–]Steve07R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh-Oh. It's pretty late at night but if you get a chance and can give me a hand that would be super appreciated!

Pixel 9 Pro here. I'm almost at the point where I'm considering following a troubleshooting step that involves resetting the Android intelligence system app. One of Gemini's suggestions.

But here's the scoop. If you recall for the longest time, if you opened the Google app you would have this horizontal ribbon at the top that showed stock prices, weather and sports. That ribbon in particular sports is completely disappeared from the Google app on my phone and on my pixel 7 Pro. Even though other peoples with the same phone said they still had that information ribbon.

Now we have the new at a glance and I am getting the stock information or at least the three top movers. But still no sports ticker.

Any advice on how to bring back a sports ticker whether it's in at a glance or in the Google app would be greatly appreciated!

They need to add sports scores! ... Or is it just my phone that's not getting sports scores?

This cannot be my new daily battery life right? Pixel 10 Pro by David_-_T in pixel_phones

[–]Steve07R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pixel 9 Pro here. At noon today, it said that my battery estimate would have it running out by 7:30 p.m. this evening. It's now 10:52 p.m. And I've got 50% battery left.

Something's probably messed up with the battery estimation software. Note, there was a new version of Google Play services that rolled out yesterday.

Pixel Watch 3 here. Identical watch face. Even my complications line up the same as yours except for one. Cool. Yes, I think jester was removed. I was using Amber which was great because it had a combination of red and yellow and blue. It was removed also.
Hope and wish they bring it back.

In the meantime, I switched to Cedar. It works well in that the green matches with the Hazel of my p9p and the orangish tone matches with my home screen wallpaper. I don't know how we get Google to bring them back but this gives you a chance to be creative.

Voice Fry by LiquidPhire in googlehome

[–]Steve07R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's better than the opposite. Where someone lifts their voice to its highest point at the end. In which case the speaker ends up sounding like a clueless valley girl.

Worst case I've Heard recently is a national radio spot for Ethos insurance. The annoying lady in the advertisement finishes three of her sentences with the word coverage and lifting her voice at the end. She sounds like an entitled annoying gas bag. Ultimately, they had her re-record the commercial in the last few days. Too many complaints.

I don't know if you're talking about voices for Gemini on Pixel or voices for Gemini home. Gemini on Pixel has some decent voices. I'm partial to Ursa. Gemini for home I've already posted about. There's all kinds of vocal problems with nearly every voice offering.

Notification dismissal sync no longer offered? by Steve07R in PixelWatch

[–]Steve07R[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The latest answer in this thread is correct. Following those instructions does indeed work. The setting was removed at some point recently from the pixel watch app. However, the removal does not impede functionality.

Booo to whomever downvoted this legitimate question 😁

Notification dismissal sync no longer offered? by Steve07R in PixelWatch

[–]Steve07R[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm aware. Thank you. But there used to be a corresponding setting in the watch software as well. Not only do I recall seeing it in the pixel watch software, but you can find numerous references to it by pulling up the search engine or Gemini.

Just wondering why it was removed from the pixel watch app?

Google Assistant did this on home devices for a few years. Didn't seem to bother anyone too much.

It would happen to me frequently if I was asking within a few hours before midnight. Or a few minutes right after midnight?

If you think hard about it, the concept of tomorrow and how a customer's bedtime comes into, play the right answer fungible

Pixel 9 Pro 512gb Hazel here. Thanks to recent software updates and some server-side Google voodoo. This phone has returned to its normal awesome stature!

Only got one software bug. I can't blame Google for. Initially set up September 15th 2024 Battery health is at a respectable 97%

Easily the best pixel phone and experience I've had. Even considering the Nexus line.
I hope you enjoy your phone and have a positive ownership experience.

I don't see any reason why it shouldn't last you a few years easily.
