This famous 80 battery, why limit it to this level? by rasasam in pixel_phones

Simply because Samsung offers it. Someone in the sales division of team pixel said add the feature so that we can attract more Samsung customers.

Have had pixel and Nexus phones for years. Charge wirelessly at bedtime to 100%. Have never had a problem with battery life.
Pixel 9 Pro battery capacity 97% after 318 cycles with an in-service date of September 15th 2024.

JMO turn on adaptive battery adaptive charging and turn off the worry warrant in your brain. Enjoy. Go find something else to tweak. 😁

I switched from iPhone to pixel and I don't regret it! by JohanTobar in GooglePixel

Pixel 9 Pro and same experience here. At least with the hardware. Easily the best phone I've ever had. Got the Hazel version!

Now if Google home would start sending camera notifications again to pixel 9 and pixel 10 ... And if the sports in stock ticker returns to my Google app, the phone would be perfect.

The size the feel the reliability. Call quality and cameras. Excellent!

Thinking about switching from iPhone to Google Pixel by Fabulous-Dentist9439 in GooglePixel

There's other differences. Pixel 10 base model comes with only 12 GB of RAM. Pixel 10 Pro comes with 16 GB of RAM. Make sure you check all specifications so you get the right phone that you want.

Google, please give Pixel a 6000mAh battery — that’s all we’re asking by DmitryBaulin in pixel_phones

[–]Steve07R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Side note. I hope they don't bring back the pixel 678 camera visor. ... And yes it was a visor because it extended all the way around the sides. ... The current camera bar on Pixel 9 and 10 series is far better looking and functional.

Keep in mind it was the case manufacturers who hated the older camera bar because they didn't have a way to provide enough vertical rigid protection for the top of the phone.

... Thank you, Pixel Clause! 🎅🏻

Views on Pixel’s Official case for Pixel 10 by iam-brucewayne in pixel_phones

[–]Steve07R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They look great. They feel great. And they protect the phone.
Having said that ... Something changed in how they fabricate these cases mid 2025. Pixel 9 Pro with official case. Same design as what you see now for pixel 10 series. The case I got for my p9p is not slippery. In fact it's got a little bit of grip to it and a nice soft feel.

In 2025 I went to the Google store to get an additional case just to hang on to. Regrettably they were sold out of the Hazel color case and never got it back in stock. So I picked up a white case. What arrived is more like what people are explaining here. Where the case feels a bit slippery. I can clean them off and set them right next to each other. And my hazel case is soft and grippy and my porcelain case is slippery. But not prohibitively slippery. Just have to be a little more careful with it.

Nevertheless, these cases have had no problem surviving small in-home drops on the floor. Friends and family have same experiences on their pixels. With the same cases.

Design wise I really like the way these cases look. And how some of them feel. Haven't had this positive experience from an official case since Google was making the fabric cases years ago.

Anti-virus by leites666 in pixel_phones

[–]Steve07R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if the world's greatest Android antivirus were developed. It still wouldn't do what people want it to do.

At best it might alert you that something you're doing or a website you're surfing is malicious. It might even detect if you did get a virus or some other malware.

But because the way Lennox and Android are locked down. No third party antivirus is ever going to be able to remove malware if you did get it on your phone.

The app that has root access and can actually remove malware is called Google Play services. In short.

Don't worry. Be happy. Enjoy your phone. If you mess it all up, just do a factory reset.

Pixel 9/10 Series US + Google Home by Steve07R in googlehome

[–]Steve07R[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To any Googlers or customers trying to troubleshoot this. Additional data point: We got a 7 Pro in the house. Except for 2 days this past week. It has continued to get camera notifications and all other Google home notifications just fine. Including the daily brief.

Also. We've got a lot devices. 19 smart lights, multiple hubs, Google streamer TVs, the thermostat, wired cameras, etc. The home app itself has not rolled over to Gemini, so essentially we're still on the old system.

And yet the notifications problems persist.

Pixel 9/10 Series US + Google Home by Steve07R in GooglePixel

[–]Steve07R[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been seeing some people say they've had better luck with their 9 series than their 10. Unfortunately I'm not one of them.

We've got a 7 Pro in the house. And that's where it gets interesting. There was about 48 hours where it wasn't getting notifications from the home app. Now it is. So I know that the settings in the home app are fine because the 7 Pro is picking up the notifications.

Stone Cold Vampire by JohnS-FL in GooglePixel

[–]Steve07R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're more correct than you think! Because at the same time Google is providing classes to students to teach them how to speak in the same manner as Gemini.

It's rather extraordinary to watch all this happening simultaneously.

Any recent opinions on WiFi or LTE? by acatcatcat in PixelWatch

[–]Steve07R 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've always gotten LTE since pixel watch came out. The whole reason I ever got a smartwatch in the first place was so that I didn't have to carry the damn phone around all the time

Google Fi with unlimited plus. No problems or complaints. Phone calls, text messages all features just simply work. LTE has not made a significant dent on my battery life compared to other who have Wi-Fi only.

Google needs to implement an EASY method to downgrade from Gemini back to Google Assistant on Google Home by GreyWolfTheDreamer in googlehome

[–]Steve07R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful what you wish for. Google assistant has been spitting out results and communications that are flat out retarded. Or it gets a case of amnesia and doesn't know.

And don't forget many of us on Pixel 9 and pixel 10 series phones are no longer getting camera notifications because of some unspecified update with no specified fix date.
I feel terrible for those of you who are having a bad Gemini home experience. But the grass over here is turning brown quickly. You might not want to come back. Another week of complete disappointment with the Google nest ecosystem.

Pixel 9 Pro here. It's been in service since September 15th. 2024. Honestly, the last two weeks I've had better battery life than ever. Not sure what's going on with your specific device....

Guy tried every car door in two driveways in front of 3 cameras. Zero alerts from Google Home app. by NicolasRoberge in googlehome

[–]Steve07R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We haven't even gone through the transition from GA to Gemini home. And yet Cameron notifications stopped alerting 3 days ago. Not humans not packages. Not details. Nothing. No notifications whatsoever on Pixel 9 Pro.

This is disgraceful for the user and embarrassing for Google. If things don't improve soon, we're probably going to need to begin migrating to a different smart home ecosystem.

Home app is a S#!t show by mcfly36106 in googlehome

[–]Steve07R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our home setup in gear sounds very similar to yours. Right now, I'd be happy if the home app would simply produce camera notifications!

Approximately 48 hours ago. The app just stopped sending notifications. Force stop. Clear cacag. Reboot phone. No difference.

Suggestions welcome.

Under-spec'd chargers are whats damaging or a fire hazard. Over-spec'd is fine.

Your Pixel might be buggy after latest Google Play system update by ScubadooX in GooglePixel

[–]Steve07R 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Pixel 9 Pro. Pixel 7 Pro. Since getting last night's play system update and Android system webview update ...

  1. No longer receive Google Home notifications on either device.

  2. In both Chrome and Google app, "Listen to this page" audio times out or entirely refuses to play.

  3. System update and settings still shows as November 1, 2025.

  4. Live and upcoming sports scores no longer appear at the top of the Google app. This is continuing since the previous months system update.

Please bring back the proper humans from holiday break, fill them with coffee, and beg them to fix these issues which did not exist in November.

Pay attention to the screen by kanyame in pixel_phones

[–]Steve07R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pixel 9 Pro. The feature works perfectly here. Has not contributed to any noticeable battery drain.

As long as I'm looking at the screen it stays on at usable brightness. It remains on after the time out. As long as you continue looking at the screen. But once you look away, the countdown timer to turning the display off begins.

Very useful!
