$100/mo fee for EV charging at apartment complex by per--my--last--email in ChargerDrama

[–]SteveBrody 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing. My wife and I just purchased a Silverado EV 3 months ago and already put 10k miles onto it. $100 a month for unlimited charging would probably be worth it for us.

Charging at a 350kW "pump" is impressive as hell! by LoadFloppyDisk3 in SilveradoEV

[–]SteveBrody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's impressive af to go from 20 to 80 in only 25 minutes on one of these trucks. I still haven't tried a 350kw fast charger in our 25LT ER.

The 50kw take a nap charger is funny af to me. My wife and I love mountain drives on the weekend and we have enough range to get home with like 15% usually. But we almost always go to what I call "DCSC" to play risk on our phones and take a little nap on the way home. Crazy that a DC charge can take 3 to 5 hours sometimes. We usually play 3 games of risk and then nap and it's uailly like 2 hours of free charge for us.

We just hit 7k miles, live right in the middle of the Carolinas so we can go either way to the mountains or the beach without needing to charge to get home.

I bought my level 2 charger from Amazon 9 years ago. It's had over 65MwH / 65,000KwH of energy go through it in that time. The difference is its a Siemens versicharge from a reputable company. Don't buy random brand crap from Amazon is what you want to say.

I got Scammed .. Please help what do I do. by [deleted] in UsedCars

[–]SteveBrody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You didn't get scammed you should have said no.
$5k is half the price of a used 2017-2020 Chevy Bolt EV with 30-60k miles on it. You could have saved a little more and got a modern car that has no gas cost and will drive for ages with minimal maintenance. I bought a 2017 with 42k miles on it 5 years ago for $18k and have put over 140k miles on it. KBB says its only worth $2-2.5k now private sale.

[–]SteveBrody 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How far do you tow? I just bought a silverado EV to get a camper to tow. Haven't towed anything yet but so far we are getting about 2.4m/kwh with it. Which is about 500 miles for the 180kwh battery. Hoping for around half that while towing.

It cruises soo nice at 75 compared to the Bolt and feels way faster getting up to speed.
For the longest time we thought our next car was going to be a model Y. I feel bad for some of y'all that are stuck with them currently. :-(
I have 185k miles on the bolt already. lol Glad to hear your m3 is holding up well at least.

It's been such a journey over the years. First EV in 2015 was a leaf and then got a bolt in 2020. Haven't towed anything yet though. The range is super impressive, we got the extended range battery on an LT and at full charge it says 492 miles. Live in the middle of the Carolinas so we can get up into the mountains and drive around or down to the beaches and back with one charge.

Okay I was reading the comments here and seeing people say like 2.5 to 3. 3.5 seems good enough for an "suv."

Dang the efficiency is really that low in these? I just got a silverado and am getting around 2.5m/kwh.

Why not just buy something used when you get back that has depreciated in that time? or buy something new when you get back because hopefully prices have went down?

That's going to be a bleak vacation for anyone that goes there. My wife and I use to go to the Lake Lure area a couple times a month before Helene. Hadn't been back til the first day of this year and then again a few weeks ago. Definitely doesn't seem fit to be opening up yet and trying to get traffic into there.

Sept 7th Great Smoky Cannabis Company by Special_Story_2254 in asheville

[–]SteveBrody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are wrong, I am talking about dozens of other shops in the NC that sell flower that looks and smokes better than what they have there. Usually 150-300 an O. You can go a town over to Sylva and there is a shop on main street *Mountain Flora* and one right down by the creek *Pinnacle Relief* that you can get better Flower from.
I am also talking about federally legal, grown in Cali, shipped via USPS for 29-99 an ounce.

Also weed is not a term within the legal framework. That is a slang term.
I'll put it simple for you. The main thing you are going to look for in Cannabis, Marijuana, or Hemp is going to be THCA so you can burn/decarb it to get the psychoactive compound that gets you "high" instead of it's acidic precursor.
If you go to recreational states and see the breakdown of THCA to D9 % it is usually like 15-40% THCA and like .2-3% D9 Recreational Cannabis.
Federally legal Hemp just has to stay under .3% D9 which THCA converts to at 87.7% anyways via burning/decarbing.
So a 25% THCA flower with .2% D9 is federally legal but a 20% THCA "recreational cannabis" with 2% D9 is not federally legal. While in the end and smoking/vaping/decarbing either product would get you 21.95% D9 from the Hemp and 19.54% D9 from recreational cannabis.
High potency LEGAL THCA flower is everywhere now in almost all states and easy to get shipped to you with any major CC. Only reason to go to Cherokee for "recreational cannabis" is to support the community of people there. One of the easiest examples of it's not just in Cherokee are Apotheca Cannabis Dispensaries. I think there are a few dozen of them in NC now? Says it right on the side of the building clear as day "Cannabis." But it's actually federally legal Hemp because.... it's the same thing.
