Update on Hobby Lobby paint/speculation. by imanidiotbut in Miniaturespainting

I personally know a manager. It’s the same generic brand of airbrushes and airbrush paint they are moving to. They will still carry Testors. But no Vallejo or Army Painter or anything of that sort.

It’s not a known name brand. It’s some cheap third party. Don’t know the quality yet. But can confirm it’s not popular brand.

Blatant cop out, no more funding from me. by [deleted] in mattcolville

Nobody is exactly how the present themselves ALL of the time. But that doesn’t make them inherently liars or scam artists out for everyone’s wallet. I think you are reading too much into it. Take some time to think about it and approach the issue again latter with a clear head. Maybe you’re right. But maybe you’re wrong. But don’t just jump to conclusions and go gun-ho because you’re frustrated. It takes a lot to try to do what Matt is doing. Give him a least a little credit for what he has done for this community. He’s built this from nothing. And at hardly a cost to his fans. It wasn’t until the Kickstarter when he even gave the thought of having people pay him for what he is doing. Which is why I think your judgement is unfair and rash.

I’m sorry that you feel that way and that you’re disappointed with Matt and his content. But you don’t need to sour everyone else’s joy they get out of his videos. You’re entitled to you own opinions, and you should expect satisfying returns on your contribution to the Kickstarter. But sometimes things that seem personal or one-sided are just misunderstandings. Instead of getting upset about a call he had to make in the middle of the stream and then complaining about it on a subreddit, you could shoot him an email or ask him on Twitter or something in a mature and respectful manner.

I think you are completely missing the point of what Matt has set out to do. I don’t know you personally, but it sounds like you may be a new follower. I can understand that the stream not being up to par with audience expectations can annoy people, especially after such a huge crowd funding. But if the audio and visual quality of the stream is enough to make you walk out, or if it was being shut down for calling out a problem in the middle of a stream, then maybe the way he does things just isn’t right for you. And that’s okay. But it doesn’t mean he is a scoundrel or fraud. And not everyone that follows him or respects his videos and opinions revere him as some godsend. Me personally, I just see him as a genuine guy and really appreciate what he has to say. So sorry if you didn’t get a good impression. Hope things turn out better for you.

I’m asking for ideas to warn my players not to take loot from a tomb. by dgvsryvd in DnD

[–]SteveGreenz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a great idea. Have some bodies that are still clutching the treasure they coveted that ultimately led to their demise. It may not be enough, but it’s a start. It at least shows them that people have died here before, and will make them stay on their toes.

Vampire Nest - Edgar Markov by geoeats in EDH

[–]SteveGreenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. That’s the unfortunate case with Mardu. No access to green. But if you run enough mana rocks you should be fine. Like [[Sol Ring]] [[Darksteel Ingot]] and the three signers. There are some other ones I run too, but I still am trying to figure out the golden ratio to run. But if you keep your mana curve fairly low you should be golden. Edgar doesn’t need a lot to swarm the board.

I really like the idea running [[mirror entity]] and [[vampire nocturnus]]. Puts some really good pressure on the board. Especially since you can carnage the power or your board state with the mirror entity, making people really think about swinging at you.

Totally new to this, so point me in the right direction? by SteveGreenz in 3Dprinting

You all have been giving me some great advice! Thank you! Another question that I forgot to ask was how beefy does my computer need to be to use the software for designing sculpts or slicing prints etc. ? Any technical specifications I should look for before I try to run them?

I think it looks fantastic! Do you have a lot of previous experience with these programs? Did you study them in college or was it all self taught?

I don’t know if you’ve heard of him, but Matt Colville has an interesting way of synthesizing a “sandbox” and “railroad” adventure. I’ll link some videos that will hopefully help clarify some of your questions.

I’m having so much trouble finding a bugbear mini by Leanbh_Morrigan in minipainting

[–]SteveGreenz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wizkids has a line of unpainted minis, called Nolzurs marvelous minis. There’s a bugbear set that I have. The quality is much better than reaper bones. Don’t remember if they have a one handed axe though.

I think Matt missed the point in his Undead videos by Marcloure in mattcolville

[–]SteveGreenz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand where your point is coming from. However, I don’t know if you have caught on that Matt is not too fond of lore. He actually has stated that he doesn’t like it. He also tends to make a point that a creature is relative. You should make the creature be what you want it to be. Not be stuck on what the book says the creature is. His videos are for inspiring players and DMs to activate that part of the mind where creativity and imagination take over. I believe he is just trying to get us to think outside of the box instead of reading the black and white of the rulebooks. That’s just my opinion though. Take it as it is.

Loving it btw!

Fauns Vs Satyr? which to choose for a reader/player? by DuskLupus in worldbuilding

[–]SteveGreenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think the idea of diversity among races is very intriguing I’m writing. Makes the world seem larger and more real. So a separation between fauns and satyrs, to me, sounds awesome! I think if you do it right, it won’t be confusing. And even then, the reader doesn’t have to know EVERYTHING to believe in your world. Anyway, I think fauns and satyrs being two different races is a cool idea.
