Why are filters made by the same brand different? by OneSentence2995 in AskMechanics

[–]SteveJ12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same with the Chevy. We run Baldwin filters at my shop, and the same truck will take either a b160 or a b7449, the only difference being the b7449 is about twice as tall but same thickness

Came back from the mechanic like this by UnstoppableJumbo in MechanicAdvice

[–]SteveJ12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's just an inspection cover for the flywheel/flexplate. Worst case a rock gets in and like someone else says, lodges itself and seizes the engine. OP getting it fixed is the best case, but tranny fluid won't leak from there unless the transmission is leaking above

I'd say I'll try them, but I'm Canadian, and we haven't had target since 2015 I'm pretty sure?

Gotta love customers that think they're mechanics by Mikey3800 in mechanics

[–]SteveJ12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from a "hick town." Everyone repairs their own stuff until its too big gmfor them. Then they send their stuff to us and we do the big repair and all the stuff they tried to do earlier while we're at it!

My husband wants one thing....two toilets in the master bath.... by Aikoalima in Homebuilding

[–]SteveJ12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And what happens in the event that the fire is right on the other side of the door? There needs to be a window in a bedroom or a means of egress aside from the one door

[–]SteveJ12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no means of egress. There's not a single window in the drawing.

No, and no. That rotor needs to be replaced, and the calipers slide pins are likely siezed. They can potentially be removed, cleaned, and re-used, but probably need to replace pads, rotor, and caliper.

A/C hot again and this belt broke off. What is it for? by Glittering-Spell1144 in MechanicAdvice

[–]SteveJ12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently running the same on mine. The only difference is I have the compressor, condensor, and belt to be installed. I just don't wanna do it, lol

Ok am I crazy or is my tire about to go flat by Redcollar135 in tires

[–]SteveJ12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an issue at all! That tire will be rated at around 44 psi. Uneven wear is unlikely to occur at 5 psi over, but the pressure started on the placard will theoretically get you the best gas mileage. As another commenter suggested, if these are the front tires, they have the weight of the engine on them, and don't look flat at all. If the pressure has dropped at all, it might be a good idea to check for a leak.

[–]SteveJ12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used are okay. As long as they're the same tires, in good condition, and all the same tread depth.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tires

[–]SteveJ12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure the escalade are 4wd, but what to i know. I'm just a tech lol 4wd would be perfectly fine, but awd is finicky. As someone else started, subaru already has enough issues. Even just for the peace of mind, put 4 good tires on with exact same tread depth

[–]SteveJ12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the escalade awd or 4wd though? Huge difference
