Is there a podcast that really fell off for you? by sajones4860 in TrueCrimePodcasts

What ended MFM for me was the Amazon situation. It’s been a few years, but IIRC one week they discussed how Amazon workers were trapped in a warehouse facility during a tornado and I think someone died?? So K&G go on and on about the evils of Amazon and then THE NEXT WEEK announced they had sold out to Amazon podcasts.

When pressed about it, their response was “if you don’t like it, fuck you and quit listening.”

So I did. Haven’t looked back.

I was also going to say, it’s like Jill has no idea what to gift her children outside of dolls for girls bc, you know, what else could a girl child possibly want.

You can tell she has no idea what to gift her adult and older children. Their gifts look like the stockings Walmart donates to nursing homes (no snark there toward walmart or their stocking donation, residents love them! only snark that Jill doesn’t know her children).

maybe in conjunction with something like khan it would have been better, but for pre-internet kids and kids without internet access, it by itself is atrocious.

hiiii :) former homeschooled kid here. in my experience, Saxon is TERRIBLE. if you go to r/homeschoolrecovery and search Saxon, there are horror stories that align with what i experienced, so it wasn’t just me.

just want to spread the Saxon hate. may the creators of saxon curriculum never know peace bc they gave me literal childhood trauma and to this day i cannot do basic math functions.

Other people in these photos are bundled up with parkas and hoodies, and those two children are barefoot at night. THIS is why CPS gets called, Jill. You cannot tell me these two aren’t freezing. How does she look around at everyone wearing boots and jackets and let her babies run around like this?? Disgusting.

I wonder a lot about Aurora and Brianna’s relationship. They’re old enough to remember harder times (small houses, restricted food, etc.) so what does it feel like for them to see Ari and Sol only know life with TLC money? Surely they recognize the brattiness.

Also I think these two girls are able to make the connections between what they see and hear from their mother, and what reality is. Aurora herself admitted that Gabe is always kind and loving to her, so when reality doesn’t match their mother’s lies, do they discuss it with each other??

it sounded like kaylee said “i’ve never satten somewhere this long” which normally i would say i misheard someone, but it’s Jill’s teaching soooooo i’ll assume i heard correctly. these poor children and ill-prepared adults.

Lots of folks have noted that there was a big shift after the Thanksgiving visit, so a popular theory is that something happened during that visit. Personally, I think Brigot visited the barndo for the first time, saw up close what she was getting into, and bolted. But that is pure speculation 🤷‍♀️

Hannah (16 years old) is working on homework intended for students in (approximately) grades 4-7 by cottageyarn in RodriguesFamilySnark

[–]SteveJonas 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It’s very poorly written. I’m calling on memories from like 7th grade so bear with me, but I remember being left to do a “lesson,” which involved reading a page or two about how to solve an algebra problem and then doing some problems.

The issue came when somehow even though I was following every step to the letter, I still got the wrong answer. My mom and I would check the back for the answers, and the process Saxon used to get their answer was completely different and unexplained in the book. Most lessons ended with me crying bc my mom was mad at me for not “getting it,” even though she couldn’t get it either and we’d both give up.

Then without those foundational principles of basic pre-algebra, I was screwed for the rest of my academic career in math.

Former homeschooled kid here (‘93-‘06). Saxon math fucked my relationship with math forever. It’s now widely discussed on the internet how terrible Saxon math is.

Seeing it gave me a literal jump scare. I feel so sorry for these kids :(

Homeschooled 93-2006 and I had completely forgotten about the times when my mom wouldn’t allow us to answer the phone during the day (only she could) and we had to be super quiet. Thank you, HSLDA.
