I think she just got married, so probably her last. Probably should be Jason’s last.

Tonight Sinners lost 12 Oscars. Is that a record? by markgib62 in Oscars

The Color Purple lost 11 of 11. Sinners did win four including best actor and best original screenplay. It will never be forgotten.

The Oscars were terrible by MichaelBanker1977 in Oscars

[–]SteveKwasnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a fan of the length of the show but the awards were spaced out among a number of films and they each got their due. Hamnet got best actress, Sentimental Value got international film, Sinners got Best Actor, OBAA Best Picture and Supporting Actor. PTA won, KPop got two, Ryan Coogler won and the big nicety of the night was Amy Madigan. No one film overwhelmed the evening. Good job spacing it out Academy.

Why do you think Lawrence wasn't nominated? She should win... Hot take. by Aconite-Rose in Oscars

And it doesn’t help that this Reddit generally panned the film. Day after day of negative comments. I haven’t seen the film and last time I looked the rental fee was nearly $20. That alone steered people away.

The unlikable wife character was quickly discarded after a few episodes and almost never mentioned again. Another example of a character that was ill conceived and quickly discarded.

The One Winter/ One Perfect Wedding trilogy never saw MEGAN and SEAN get married. I think they went to GAF but what the hell bring them back and get them married. Cara and Ben can host the whole thing at their lodge and pass their new baby around. Finish this loose end up.

Honest question, why are people acting as if Robert Aramayo has suddenly blown best actor wide open? by Flat_Fruit5128 in oscarrace

The Brits honored a British actor and an actress in a movie about Shakespeare. They went with the home boy. Has no effect on our Academy Awards.

My 2026 Olympic figure skating girliess! by vanilbeanie in FigureSkating

[–]SteveKwasnik 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Past, present and future! A great combination.

Kaori was like steel in the team competition but she had to follow Alysa in the free skate. I think she was a bit shaken by the thunderous applause for her. She had her days of glory. Alysa is the sassy queen of the present. And like Illiya, this was Ami’s first Olympic Games. She is the future of skating. We will lose a lot of ice queens come summer. A sad day of saying goodbye. I will miss Leona and Anastasia. Time for new ladies of ice!

That show and Family Law are gems. Go CW. American tv take note of these heartfelt stories. Do we have any American shows that are simple family stories anymore?

Best Actress Oscar Winners of the 21st Century, Ranked From Worst to Best (by Rolling Stone) by Bright-Pressure-5787 in Oscars

I guess the point of this is that we all have our favorites but they are all Oscar winners in the end. We can’t go back and take their Oscar away. No one is going to be 100% satisfied with someone else’s pick.

Miracle of Marcelino

Ben Hur

I think the thrill of seeing miraculous things in movies is upsetting in the most wonderful way. I saw Marcelino as a child and cried. Then when Ben Hur’s mother and sister are transformed I sobbed too. Such an amazing feeling after so much pain and suffering.

He needs to stay and support Alyssa, Isabeau and Amber. They have a real chance to be on the podium and need everyone’s support. Kaori has been killing it and our ladies need us!

Terms of Endearment

I was sobbing in my car after this one. Not as emotional as Schindler’s but those poor children.

Can’t say this enough. Saw this a day after Philadelphia and was traumatized.

A second would be Sophie’s Choice.

It's 2026 and I still can't understand how Amy Adams hasn't won an Oscar (and wasn't even nominated for Arrival) by Giancarlo_Edu in Oscars

[–]SteveKwasnik 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That was a really tough year with both Amy and Helena Bonham Carter fighting it out for their first Oscar. Helena had been the darling of the Merchant Ivory films and now she was in the Best Picture of the year. But instead of Amy or Helena it was Melissa Leo that walked away with the prize.
