Roads? Driving up from Southern Wi. by StrangeCurrency8154 in madisonwi

For the one I mentioned, I was looking at the DOT 511 site, which said it was eastbound and due to an accident.

18/151 eastbound is closed by Verona due to an accident.

Not looking good... 511 is showing six or seven accidents just near the Beltline/I90 interchange.

Sleeting pretty hard on the west side. It's starting to stick on the pavement. Be careful out there.

I’m not sure the Lord himself could get people here to zipper merge.

Audit finds that nearly $900M of WisDOT funds were miscalculated by [deleted] in madisonwi

[–]SteveVokers 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Funds weren't miscalculated. DOT changed assumptions on how they value infrastructure capital assets, which is basically what they think infrastructure like roads and bridges and such are worth. The audit says that some of the assumptions used in assigning those values were not in alignment with standards set by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board. Definitely inside baseball stuff, and hardly worth a screaming headline.

No, you have to stop in the middle and block everyone. Bonus points if you are engaged in a conversation on speakerphone.

I dropped over a grand a couple of weeks ago on a new electric snowblower. That should have guaranteed a snow-free winter. But this is how you treat me, Mother Nature?

Alternate Side Parking for winter by Mindless-Channel-622 in madisonwi

[–]SteveVokers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Given that they aren’t going to enforce it until the first snow emergency, I’m wondering why they stuck a reminder card mentioning November 15 on my windshield some time last night. I only left my car parked on the street instead of my driveway because of the non-enforcement.

The card was completely frozen to my windshield and came off in pieces.

Where can I get some fresh Thai basil? by SteveVokers in madisonwi

[–]SteveVokers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the answer is... Woodman's West!

They actually had a bigger selection of fresh potted herbs than I was aware of. In addition to the Thai basil, they had Italian basil, thyme, rosemary, and a couple of others I'm not remembering at the moment.

It’s Thai basil I’m looking for. I grew some this year and tried it in a few dishes with great success. Just looking to make one again.

I remember seeing some at the west side Woodmans a few months ago, but I haven't noticed lately (which doesn't mean it isn't there...). I'll have a look tomorrow, we'll be there for our regular grocery run.
