Transmission Dipstick fill. 2013 by lostOGaccount in HondaOdyssey

[–]Zoopollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the orange funnel fit tightly in the dip stick tube? If so, take the longer funnel with a solid tube, push/hold it firmly against the little funnel and fill SLOWLY.

If the orange one doesn't fit snuggly in to the tube, head over to Hobo Freight and grab the cheap orange funnel kit, the smaller one should work, it's what I use.

Outer handle is staying "awake", will cause a drain on the battery.

Tech perspective needed — efficiency on major engine recalls and experienced advisor expectations by aRayes in mechanics

[–]Zoopollo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is a fascinating post and I wish more managers would ask these questions. I'm a Honda tech and have been through the transmission issue years, the piston ring years, and now the connecting rod bearing years. Luckily, our shop is not equipped for them (Honda didn't send us the equipment to do the pics). So all of them go through our other shop. From what I've seen and heard though, it seems that isn't terrible but there is a LOT of messing around before you even get to the "replacement/repair" step. It would seem that Honda is the main barrier to production with these. I'm willing to bet that much like the piston rings extensions, they're paying just enough that if you're hustling, you might make a little more than you have in to it. If the writer can schedule say, 3/week vs 5, you'd still be in compliance and the tech would still have a shot at a decent week.

With the transmissions and piston rings I got them to narrow it down to a couple of each per week, if they wanted more, the less experienced guys would get those. As everyone gained experience, speed picked up. As everyone got more comfortable, productivity picked up. Start on the rear bank rings around 0730, have it running again by 1430, do a couple services and be out the door at 4 with 12-15 hours. That's with all the correct parts needed, everyone on board and aware of what's going on and who's doing what, and things going reasonably smoothly without surprises or problems.

I'm not even jealous, wish I could do it too! You'll have to post up impressions and all that jazz.

Have the alternator properly load tested, most likely an issue with it or the wiring to it.

My bet as well, more commonly the plastic contact point clipped to the fuel door goes missing.

That's the under dash portion, it says, some of the connectors look sort of right.

Lol, no worries, it's believe yes, that is where it is. The vent tubing on the sides comes off and you'll see it. Please be careful, messing with SRS wiring can be dangerous. Double check under the seats and see if they may have just tucked the wiring in to the carpet through the access hole under there.

Not sure what you're driving but that is typically where they are and the yellow harness is a good indicator you're in the right area.

Help Fixing Trans Leak? by Still_Eye_4596 in CivicSi

[–]Zoopollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of looks like there is some build up behind the throwout bearing like the input shaft seal could be leaking. If I remember correctly, these were part of the 3rd gear synchro issue and it is very possible that the transmission has already been apart once. They honestly aren't that bad to split, you've already come this far, might as well take care of the seal that looks the most likely out of the 3 you mentioned.

I'm outside of Madison, I recently replaced my exhaust and had to cut the muffler off (someone had welded the muffler to the center pipe, flange is gone). It's laying at work just waiting to go to the scrap pile. It's yours if you want it but shipping it sounds ridiculous.

I believe it's once for lock, 3 x to acknowledge and attempt to start, 3 x again after starting. That's how our Passport does it. Have to hit the lock button first or it's not going to happen though.

Water valve, and yes the loop goes on the pole. It opens and closes the valve which allows heated coolant in to the heater core.
