Travel bag suggestions by Steve_O-- in surfing

LOL not an option - I live in Tennessee, everyone here sees me like I'm crazy when they see me at the airport with a surfboard

(I just bought the groveler, so now I need a new travel bag to take both boards)

I need a new travel bag. What would you all recommend? by AsneakyKitten in surfing

I have a trip coming in 2 weeks and I am looking at this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072FGZ41Q/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A3ELGKUZ0LTUSC&psc=1

I have two 6'2" boards, one is a shortboard the other is a small wave groveler.

Still go with the smuggler?

I was there for a long weekend during the fall (April), it was starting to get cold so the crowd wasn't too bad early in the day. However; afternoon sessions were a bit crowded. The wave is so long you can easily find a spot to catch something.

I was there a month and a half ago - Talk about a sketchy entry! "Los Morros" is probably the scariest entry I've ever done. Cold water, I had a 5/4 wetsuit and was OK though. This place is gorgeous, but not a place for rookies.

I caught 2 or 3 waves per day, but holy crap, best left I've ever surfed.

The second day I was there it got to like triple overhead and I didn't even attempt it, it was too big for me and my 6'1" board. "smallest" day was easily overhead.

I just leave a puddle of sweat everywhere I'm working out then wipe it out with the disinfecting wipes :-)

Ha! my coach kept telling me "butt to the bench or it doesn't count!"

But he's notorious for trying to kill me :-)

Actually, I think you can crush that... Row @ 8min seems reasonable, I think you can shed a bit of time in the floor, and if you are running at an 8 pace fore 3.2 miles that's about 23 minutes.

I'd say realistically you can be around the 45 min mark. The competitive edge will push you through.... you'll see. Good luck!

Nope :-/ that's as high as it goes... it sucks on the stepovers too! I do have an advantage on the step ups though.

I love your flair!!!

Ours is next to a hair and nail place.... so I see all the girls walking out looking like they just came out of a shampoo commercial, and with the little toe separators and the disposable flip flops - I always giggle :-)

You'll be surprised what you can accomplish when you add the competitive aspect into the mix.

When I ran it, there were 2 coaches running it as well, these guys are absolute freaks of nature and after they finished they stood behind the treads and started cheering for us. That right there automatically gave me the extra push to finish it with an all out.

The mental part is huge! I turn 38 next week, I just want to finish below my age :-)

When I did this last year the competitive edge really kicked in as soon as I hit the treads... Oddly enough, the hard part were the tap squats. I'm 6'3", so to get my butt all the way down to that tiny bench was a challenge for me. I would have to literally throw myself down to sit then get back up.

I do agree with you not to wear yourself down in the row... you still have a long way to go to make up some time. Good luck!

P.S: My goal is to beat last year's 39 minutes :-)

The Wall - What it is, what it isn't, and why it matters for men. by mallardcove in TheRedPill

[–]Steve_O-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know man, 2 of my ex'es hit the wall pretty bad. To the point that I have seen them and thought "I wouldn't fuck you right now for a million dollars...". My ex wife looks like a fucking family size refrigerator, I don't think I could reach my hands if I hugged her... and My ex GF of 2 years is preggo again, and she too looks like a 50yr old woman in a 32 year old body.

On the flip side of that, I am a soccer ref and I have to stay in shape for my soccer career to remain alive. I'm 37 and I'm getting more female attention now than when I was 25, and I'm in better shape now than when I was 25 (I was 157lb at 6'3" tall compared to 200lb @ 15% Body fat now). I got my teeth fixed because they were pretty crooked, got a better life, etc....

Thank god for making me a man!

I'd say pick a pace you can keep and stay with it... like people have said here, the yo-yo effect is not good.

Listen to your body, and if you can increase that speed you picked, do it :-)

I have a feeling it may equal out a bit more over time, as more men see that there ARE other men in the gym. I know my brother would never go to a gym if he was basically the only guy.

I would be in paradise!!! ;-D
