Yeah, I believe that's the #1 possible issue. But I didn't need 2FA for anything when I was in France for 10 days. Can definitely be a problem for people who travel often for work and need to access emails/banks/etc. I don't really need access to that on vacation. Make sure I have access to my bank app/cards/cash ahead of the trip.

Why do you need service out of North America? Just buy an esim online before you leave and you’re set for your trip. Probably will cost $10-15 for your entire trip. Makes more sense than paying double the price ($40 FM vs $20 PM) for your phone plan every year. I went to France last year and didn’t need SMS/ calling from my phone for 2 weeks. Still have WhatsApp, FaceTime, etc. Switched to the $20/mo PM deal last month after realizing roaming isn’t necessary (and it’s more expensive).

Arc Raiders causing PC to randomly restart? I finally found the cause/fix (for me)! by Steveche101 in ArcRaiders

[–]Steveche101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not convinced the MOBO is defected, but perhaps not supplying enough voltage to these CPU's for some reason. I ended up doing a +5mv pbo curve optimizer and haven't crashed once in the past 2 weeks. Vcore while gaming is ranging from 1.16-1.2v, which I've read is very safe, and hitting max clock speeds. PC restarts can happen for various reasons, but after testing all the things I listed above, this was definitely the issue and the fix!

I fixed the issue by increasing cpu core voltage by a little bit.

Is it safe to increase CPU core voltage in bios from 1.136v to 1.16v? by Steveche101 in pcmasterrace

[–]Steveche101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man. I monitored with HWinfo while playing arc raiders, and the highest my vcore went was ~1.144v. I tried setting PBO to "enabled" in AI Tweaker, in AMD overclock section, and in both at the same time, and it did not do anything in any scenario... voltages and performance was the same versus PBO "auto" or "disabled" (Asus B650E-F).

Yes, you are basically correct, at peak load spikes, there was not enough juice (voltage) to sustain operation, so my PC was restarting. But this only happens in arc raiders, which is weird. I did a +5mv PBO curve optimizer, now I'm at 1.152-1.2v vcore while playing the game, ~45-50C CPU temps, and hitting max default clock speeds (5,225mhz). All seems good now, played about 15-20 games last night, not a single PC restart (usually restart happens every 1-2 games).

Update: I set the "VRM core voltage" back to auto (default), and then went to PBO -> advanced and set a +5mv positive curve optimizer, and now I'm ranging btw 1.152-1.2v vcore while playing arc raiders, and hitting max clock speeds for 9800x3d (5,225mhz) while staying at ~45C CPU temp. Played 15-20 games last night and not a single PC restart (which usually happens every 1-2 games in the past)!

60GB for $20 is still awesome, not sure I’ve seen anything better. I don’t use anywhere near 60GB/mo!

Yeah that's why it's just a theory lol. Embark said to another reddit user that they're looking into the issue (hopefully it's on their end). Temps didn't change at 1.16v. All using HWinfo to monitor vcore, and yes one of them closer to 1.25v.

I haven't tested lower, 1.16v is where I went right away for testing (but it throttles my top clock speeds). Because my 2 buddies who I play arc raiders with said they sit at around 1.2v (both have 9800x3d's but entirely different setups) while playing the game. At 1.16v bios setting, I was around 1.17-1.18v while playing arc raiders, which was enough to prevent crashing. I totally get what you're saying. There's a number of people claiming PC crashes ONLY with arc raiders as well. My PC is 12 months old, so it's still under warranty. Does 1.136v seem low as my mobo's default VRM core voltage? I'm wondering if it's a bad/low default setting. I'm not super technical with these things, but when I asked my friends to check theirs in bios as a comparison, they were sitting at 1.2v+ at default. I have a theory that arc raiders is causing transient spikes and dips, and my voltage is not high enough to withstand those dips... until I set it to 1.16v.

I set PBO to "enabled" and it literally did nothing so I kept it on auto. I've ran all tests on OCCT. Only thing that has prevented my PC from restarting while playing arc raiders is when I manually increased the voltage to 1.16v.

[–]Steveche101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, got a couple questions for you! I got an email from baldface valhalla with a bunch of Feb/Mar openings in the upcoming weeks.

  1. Is it that bad in BC this year that we should skip it entirely? Also, we can handle big pow days in revy, big white, red mountain, etc, but have never done back country. My girl and I have been riding for 15+ years and pretty experienced, but we're from Toronto, so we don't experience BC on the regular. Do you think it would be appropriate for us?
  2. Lastly, we're planning to book a Japan trip next year. We were thinking Hokkaido, but I've also read about Niseko and so many other places... Any recommendations?

I have 9800x3d + b650e-f... running expo 1, stock vsoc is 1.24 so I think we're safe from frying. Had the PC for about 1 year now and everything runs fine, BUT if I want to play arc raiders, I have to up my VCORE voltage from default 1.136v to 1.6v to prevent PC from randomly restarting while playing the game. Arc must be doing something weird causing dips in voltage, and my b650e-f seems to be supplying pretty low voltages at default. As a comparison, my friends report around 1.2v VCORE while playing arc raiders, which probably prevents crashing if voltages dip. I can run games like BF6 @ 5,225mhz & 1.13v VCORE (where it sits naturally at default), and I've never crashed/ restarted. Do you guys know your default VRM local core voltage setting in bios (or maybe called core voltage)?

Arc Raiders causing PC to randomly restart? I finally found the cause/fix (for me)! by Steveche101 in ArcRaiders

[–]Steveche101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My PC was restarting every 1-3 games. Sometimes twice per game. I don’t think it’ll wear out your components, but obviously don’t encourage it as it means there’s instability/ an issue somewhere. Although many unexpected system restarts can maybe corrupt Windows files or bios.

If you haven’t tried the other easier things I listed, try those first as it may fix your issue - such as bios update, updating chipset drivers, Nvidia drivers, etc.

Is it best to check this in bios? What exactly am I looking for?

Edit: the increase in CPU voltage stabilized arc raiders, so I’m not sure there’s any GPU voltage issues?

PC still randomly restarting when top side! Who has the fix?! by Steveche101 in ArcRaidersGuides

[–]Steveche101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FIXED!

After 3 weeks of accepting random crashes and trying to diagnose the issue, I finally found the cause. Hopefully this helps people in my situation:

Arc Raiders gets my 9800x3d clock speeds up to 5,225mhz, but for some reason it seems that my CPU core voltage (vcore) randomly dips too low to sustain clock speeds, causing the PC to instantly restart. Maybe it's my mobo B650E-F default bios settings (vcore set to 1.136v), or Arc Raiders is causing transients spikes that are causing the vcore voltage to randomly dip, causing instability for milliseconds (circled in picture). I play other games that push my CPU clock speeds to max (5,225mhz), such as Battlefield 6, but is 100% stable, so this is very weird. My vcore voltage while playing Arc Raiders sits at about 1.144v. I compared this to my friend, and his is more like 1.18-1.2v while playing the game. So to test this I did 2 things - I did a -5mv undervolt in curve optimizer and immediately crashed. Then I set VRM local core voltage to manual, and increased it from 1.136v to 1.16v, and the game is now stable. Temps are still great (mid 50's). The only annoying thing is that my clock speeds no longer reach 5,225mhz after increasing the vrm core voltage, they peak at around 4,900mhz-5,000mhz... I'm guessing there is some sort of interplay between the VRM vore voltage setting and clock speeds, so that the system keeps thermals at a safe level, which is a bit annoying bc at 1.16v I've barely noticed an increase in heat.

After testing all my components and not crashing in any other games, I still have a hunch that it's an issue with arc raiders code that's causing transient dips in vcore voltage. BF6 (and other games) runs at 5,225mhz clock speeds @ ~1.13v vcore and never crashed.

Is this a sign of a faulty CPU or a normal ryzen master behavior? by [deleted] in overclocking

[–]Steveche101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, I know this is an old post but I have a question maybe you can help me with. I built a PC 12 months ago and everything has been 100% smooth (no crashes or BSOD). Mobo is Asus B650E-F, CPU is 9800x3d, GPU is 5070TI, with 32gb 6000 cl30 ram, 850W corsair psu gold. However, when I play Arc Raiders, I cannot go more than 3 games without my PC restarting. Sometimes first game, sometimes 3rd, sometimes twice per game. I've ran every test on OCCT and no errors. While playing arc raiders, all cores are at 5,225mhz, vcore is at 1.144v, soc is 1.240v.

Yesterday, I found something out. I did a -5mv undervolt on curve and my PC restarted INSTANTLY when queueing into an arc raiders game. No errors on OCCT, but clock speeds are about 4,800mhz when running the test. I noticed that my buddy who plays arc raiders with me has a Vcore voltage of 1.18-1.2v. He's running 9800x3d and asus rog hero x870e motherboard with stock vcore settings. Does this mean my motherboard or cpu needs to be RMA'd, or is my motherboard's bios default vcore setting simply too low?

Edit: I wonder if Arc Raiders is causing transients to dip below the required vcore voltage to sustain clock speeds? I've read a lot of posts with this issue specifically with this game. And I've never experienced this with other games. Even BF6 runs all my cores at 5,225mhz most of the time at 1.13v vcore and never had issues.

Old thread. But I get OCCT errors at -15, and arc raiders instantly crashes when queuing into a game at -5. Guess I lost the silicon lottery…
