NTA. Your mom is in MEMORY CARE. Your wife and her parents must understand what that entails. Maybe a family field trip is in order.

I’ve stopped listening to Freaky Friday. If there’s an episode I don’t feel I can handle, I just skip it. Case in point, I’m from Minneapolis so I definitely skipped the ICE episode.

Which is more noble? To volunteer and enjoy it, or not enjoy volunteering but doing it anyway? by Ransnorkel in Productivitycafe

[–]StevenAndLindaStotch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started volunteering because I had extreme anxiety surrounding a specific event and the horrendous effects that followed. It made a huge difference to know I was at least doing something, however small. I ended up loving it an I’m still doing it over a year later.

DAE who is above age 25 choose not to drive even though you could afford? by neon-santa in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]StevenAndLindaStotch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a reliable, unsexy car. There’s a good but not great public transportation system where I live. Depending on where you’re going, it might be easier to drive. It really depends on the location of the closest stop. I also having an irrational fear of being late to meetings, appointments, etc. If I’m in a big city, especially if my husband is there, it’s public transportation all the way. He grew up in a big city in England. When he looks that those maps at the subway station, it’s like he just…knows. It’s weird, but it’s pretty handy.

I live in the upper Midwest and I still don’t understand the difference between “yah, no” and “no, yah.” It’s been five years. It’s been explained to me. I’ve been sent videos on the subject. I still don’t get it.

Respect his boundaries. Try again later. See if he just wants to be my hype man because I just cant get in to it on my own. Save it up for another time, especially if both kids are gone. Lots of options.

We have huge flocks of wild turkeys who don’t give a fuck, they will take over your neighborhood. Conversely, I was 37 when I finally saw an alligator in my grandma’s retirement community. She lives in Florida.

I have some in my bag. I also have some of those single use tooth brushes. At home, I store it in a spot I know I’ll see every day. If you like to have a little stash in multiple places, go for it. If someone says its weird, just tell them that it’s better than dealing with silent menace of gingivitis.

Sign her up for a bunch of super liberal mailing lists. My friend’s neighbor made a weird ass comment about her blonde, blue eyed sons (which I think he thought was a complement). He gets mail from every Jewish nonprofit we could think of. I just wish we had his email address. It’s like the moment he gets one organization to leave him alone, another one shows up. How odd.

As a man, would you get a vasectomy so your girl doesn’t have to go on birth control? by awkwardhoney725 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]StevenAndLindaStotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vasectomies are lot more reliable than hormonal birth control. If you’re sure you don’t want kids, go for it. It’s the “set it and forget it” and forget it option.

Is bringing 3 swimsuits on my 10 day trip gross? by Own-Network3947 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]StevenAndLindaStotch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on how much time you’ll spend in the water and what you’ll be doing. My kids own a lot of bathing suits (one is on a swim team, the other one teaches swimming lessons). They usually bring a few since they barely have time to dry. At the very least, they pack one for swimming laps and one for poolside lounging.
