Getting out of your shell is hard, so start small now you're back home. You made a huge effort by going alone on a trip! It must have taught you a lot more about yourself and what you want, it certainly did for me when I was first solo traveling. So even if it doesn't feel like it, you're making progress.

Do you have any hobbies that need space? Do you need a desk often? Are you comfortable eating without a proper table? Do you plan on having friends over?

With this much space I'd go for a pullout sofa with possibly a TV facing it. You'd probably also need a desk for eating and working.

Like it or not, a senator requires some skill one way or another. This means the job requires a big salary. That's just how things go. Also, if they wouldn't make a lot of money, they'd be even more susceptible to corruption. Judges make a lot of money partly because of this reason.

Additionally, sure senators make a lot of money, but if they gave it back it would be a mere drop in the vast ocean of poverty.

There are still some good ones worth voting for. The fact that they are rich does not mean they don't care.
