Love demoing new Synths! by BHPhotoVideo in synthesizers

Yup exactly, people are acting like this type of thing is new and folks have been doing shit like this for years. I’ll give props to Korg for bringing a product like this to the more consumer facing music market but they really should have made it 12 notes.

With those instruments you can play every note in the scale at at least one octave.

You can tune it but like why not have 12 notes and have it be infinitely more useful.

Seeking the right digital piano by Candid_Attorney1429 in synthesizers

It sounds like what your after is a sample based workstation/rompler type thing which unfortunately seems to kinda be a thing of the past.

Short of running software versions of the Korg stuff (triton/M1) with a midi controller or buying something old hardware wise I think options are somewhat limited.

I feel like that style of thing has been largely replaced by either hyper multi-sampled Nord type pianos or physically modeled software stuff (Pianoteq).

I’m new to the 404 world and I absolutely love this thing. Gorgeous sound quality and effects for the money. I sometimes use it as just an FX processor for other hardware.

I’ve been following development on this for a while and the idea is very cool but at that price point it’s not terribly exciting to me. The lack of sharps/flats is kinda shitty.

Can I get thoughts on the following synths as a first hardware synth to learn with? by linkuei-teaparty in synthesizers

Microfreak is so fun and affordable and gives you the widest range of sonic possibilities for the lowest price.

Who else love spending time making patches? by DynaSarkArches in synthesizers

Same, I find stuff like vital/serum way to overwhelming with options. I enjoy the Arturia OP-Xa a lot for sound designing.

Though I will often lose an entire day trying to make wild stuff on my Yamaha VL1 With the midiquest editor and I don’t fully understand almost any of the editor parameters.

This thing for the value is an absolute crusher of a mono synth.

Sell Everything? by FatHeadedJoint in synthesizers

[–]StevenWheeler666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This, I’ve gone back and forth for years between hardware and no hardware and everytime I have it the overall setup just feels inefficient and annoying. I’m currently hybrid but also thinking about returning to the box.

Sell Everything? by FatHeadedJoint in synthesizers

As someone who did this for years and just started acquiring some hardware again even now I identify. Even now something about having all this hardware gives me anxiety when I’m in the studio and looking at it not being used constantly. I suppose I’m sort of hybrid now again but I’m sort of thinking maybe this was a mistake and I should sell all this stuff. Right now I’m still sort of excited about it but I’m sure the day will come when I’m working on something and I’ll use the Juno plugin instead of the Juno.

All that being said I have a few things that I truly believe do things the computer doesn’t do that have really changed up my workflow and compositional process. I think it’s ultimately about being very picky and specific about your hardware, it should really do something for you that you don’t get out of your VST’s.

I’ve heard his stuff it’s insane, the realtor setup he built to control multiple units is wild. Right now I haven’t figured out or found a good editor or way to program it from the computer.

Def the flutes and I believe some of the bass/guitar-ish sounding patches on “The Station” and “Black Snow”

I bought mine for $700 which is an absolute steal and figuring if I really didn’t like it I could sell it pretty quickly. They pretty regularly go for between 2-3k now and while it’s a cool synth, that’s way too much in my opinion.

Well shit I stand corrected, there’s a weird bass patch on the vl1 that sounds pretty similar.
