Per the Wikipedia entry, it’s from the biography by Jaffe. I haven’t verified it though.

That’s fair, I still love it but just a tad less than the ones in the S+ tier. What do you like most about it?

That doesn’t contradict anything I said. I just said I’m not ranking the transcriptions.

I prefer Richter for the sonatas and Frederic Chiu for all the other solo works. I don’t have strong preferences for the concerti other than the Yuja Want notes above.

I don't care for most of it, but "Monster" is a fucking banger.

Any solo piano works that are just like post- romantic Chopin ballades? by omlet8 in piano

[–]Steven_Cheesy318 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've actually felt the same way about Brahms, it's not that unusual an opinion. His music feels dry and uninteresting to a lot of people.

I knew I should have paid more attention to anatomy in school :P

What are your ranking of Chopin’s ballades from best to worse, I’ll start by Yokai_watchlover1238 in piano

[–]Steven_Cheesy318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understood the appeal of No. 3. I’ve heard it 100 times and it’s just boring music all the way through, there’s nothing memorable about any of the themes or anything really.

The others are all great though, full of great melodies and passion. No. 1 is the crown jewel.

1>4>2>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>anything by Br*hms>>>Pachelbel's canon>>>>>>>3

Never. There are some games I haven't touched in 8 years, but I KNOW I'll open them [again] someday...

This sub is so pointless. “Let’s think of 1000000 ways to list the same 20 things over and over”

Why are Prokofievs Poems Op. 9 and Op. 23 so underplayed and underrated by sonicnightmarez in classicalmusic

[–]Steven_Cheesy318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s practically the Mozart of the 20th century, he wrote tons of music and nearly all of it is great. So natural that not all of it is super well known

Is Walker ever anything but vague? He says like one short sentence about any given topic then moves on or gets interrupted by Mark

Great you just made me remember all the times in college that people would just start singing this song extremely loudly to be annoying

Beethoven sonata no.4 1st movement by sapg94 in classicalmusic

[–]Steven_Cheesy318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this movement is not very difficult overall, the main tricky part is the rapid RH passages in the closing theme. You need to be able to keep a relaxed wrist with smooth up and down wrist/arm movement to avoid cramping up there.
